Champion
Reaching outside there were crowds of students from all the different high schools. Liu Feng followed the line to the counter where he had to give the heads so that the points can be tallied, looking at the two giant screens set up in front of the gathering area behind the outdoor podium. One screen showed a timer counting down with 15mins left and the other screen was a ranking system with all the students who participated who had their points tallied.
“Damn I almost didn’t make it on time thank god.” Liu Feng thought as he sighed in relief.
Soon it was Liu Feng’s turn to, tally his score by giving the heads he collected. He quickly looked at the leader board and saw that the highest score was 4000 points.
“This is much lower than I thought, how many heads should I give in?” Liu Feng thought
“Please place your heads on this counter for us to inspect.” The examiner in charge of his counter said.
“You are going to need a bigger table if you want to tally my score.” Liu Feng said.
“Don’t be arrogant boy, how many heads could you have possibly brought back?” The attendant said sternly.
Thinking quickly Liu Feng decided to give in 2000 Qi refinement beast heads which would secure him 20,000 points, allowing him to sell the rest.
“I have 2000 Qi refinement beast heads with me are you sure this table is big enough?” Liu Feng said with a smirk.
“Boy you best not be lying to me or else I will fail you immediately,” The examiner said as he brought Liu Feng to a bigger counting area.
This commotion was seen by the students around him.
“Who does he think he is, lying to the examiner like that.”
“I know right he will definitely embarrass himself.”
As Liu Feng walked up to the counting area, he took out 2000 of the heads and placed them on the counting platform.
A small mountain of heads formed, shocking the examiner. “This must be Qi gathering beast heads there is no way.” The examiner choked on his thoughts when he assessed the heads confirming all of them to be beast heads of the Qi refinement level.
The examiner swallowed his saliva and walked up to Liu Feng scanning him to determine his cultivation level and asking him for his name.
Looking at the scanner, the examiner’s heart shook further determining his cultivation level to be at Qi refinement 9.
“My name is Liu Feng, “ he said.
“But according to my records why is your cultivation level so high now when it was just.”
Liu Feng cut him off and said, I had enemies in my district and did not want them to be wary of me thus I hid my cultivation level I apologize for causing any inconvenience. This is my actual cultivation.”
“Oh if that is the case it is perfectly fine, there are no problems at all.” The examiner politely said as he was only at Qi refinement 7. But Liu Feng who was only 14 was already higher in cultivation than him, who was 37.

“Thank you for understanding, also there is an important matter that I need to tell you. When I was hunting beasts I came across a camp, thinking who would be brave enough to camp in the labyrinth. I hid immediately as soon as I saw an asura, but the asura ignored me and fled. I ran as soon as I saw him and came out here now.” Liu Feng explained.
“You saw the asura?” The examiner said.
“Hold one let me get someone here to talk to you.” The examiner ran off in a hurry.
“He definitely said ‘the’ just now meaning that they knew the asura was inside. It was just as I thought we were baits or more to say tracking dogs.”
Waiting for the examiner to come back, Liu Feng saw his name shoot up to the top of the rankings with 20,000 points with second place at 6,000 points there was a huge gap.
Immediately the crowd went into an uproar.
“What the hell 20,000 points am I hallucinating?”
“It must be a technical error or something there is no way!”
“Am I dreaming, how many beasts did this Liu Feng kill to get 20,000 points.”
Watching all of this happen Liu Feng had a smile on his face, finally, he could make a name for himself. He did not need to hide anymore. Soon he heard hurried footsteps approaching him. Turning around he saw the men with the suit who gave the speech on the podium along with the examiner.
“So you are Liu Feng the student who brought back 2000 heads from Qi refinement beasts, so young but already at Qi refinement 9. Good, good” The man in the suit spoke.
“Thank you, how should I address you?” Liu Feng asked speaking in a respectful tone since he could not see the man’s cultivation level.
Liu Feng suspected that he must be around the same realm as James.
“My name Yin Chen and I am the 7th Central Commandment.” Yin Chen said
“So this is the guy who was talking to the deva and based on his name he must be from the Yin clan as well, same as that arrogant girl.” Liu Feng thought.
“So I heard you saw an asura in the labyrinth are you sure?” Yin Chen asked
Liu Feng described how James looked but not too accurately as he did not want to seem suspicious, he also told them the opposite direction where James actually went.
“I see, I see okay thank you for the information, and once again congratulations on securing the first place as the champion for this year’s scholarship exam.” Yin Chen said shaking Liu Feng’s hand.
“But aren’t there still points of other students to be tallied?” Liu Feng asked.
“The other students would not be able to hold a candle to your score. Even my niece Yin Yi who is at the Qi refinement 3 who is participating in the exam will not beat you. Anyways I will have to go and handle some matters please excuse me. I will see you later at the award ceremony” Yin Chen said as he hurried off.

The examiner then escorted Liu Feng to the seating area of the podium, he was then seated on a chair with the label champion on it.
“Please wait here for the scores of the other students to be tallied.” The examiner said as he hurried off also.
“A chair for the champion how fitting, if all these students find out that I did not hunt any of these beasts how would they react. Ha Ha Ha” Liu Feng laughed as he thought.
After a while, the students began gathering at the seating area for the award ceremony. Liu Feng still held the number 1 spot at 20,000 points with the second place belonging to someone by the name Guang Ho at 11,000, followed by the third-place belonging to Li Rou at 10,573 points.
Guang Ho was bald with thick eyebrows he wore a blue jacket which hid his muscular build with jeans and sneakers, he sat beside Liu Feng. He had a serious expression, he turned to Liu Feng and asked “Which clan are you from?”
“I am an orphan” Liu Feng replied.
This reply from Liu Feng stunned Guang ho as he expected Liu Feng to be from a big clan to be able to score 20,00 points he must have had a lot of resources growing up.
Since Guang Ho is from a big clan himself he did not expect the person who beat him to be an orphan without any resources or backer. This caused him to feel disappointed in himself, as he lost to someone who had nothing. “I have to work harder in the future.” Guang Ho thought to himself.
Looking back at Liu Feng Guang Ho stuck out his hand and wanted to shake his hand.
Liu Feng looked at Guang Ho for a moment before giving his hand out.
“Congratulations on taking first place, I will defeat you next time at Infinite university.” Guang Ho said earnestly.
Liu Feng was stunned as he expected Guang Ho to say something to put him down and make him enemies, but from what Guang Ho said he did not sense any malice at all.
This made Liu Feng warm up to Guang Ho and he said, “Thank you for the praise and I hope that we can compete at Infinite University.”
Guang Ho started talking to Liu Feng, as they both were talking about what to expect at Infinite University. A skinny boy with long grey hair all the way to the bottom of his spine walked up to them, he wore a black robe which gave him an eerie vibe. He stared at both Guang Ho and Liu Feng before sitting beside Guang Ho at the seat for the third place.
“He must be Li Rou,” Liu Feng thought.
Guang Ho tried starting up a conversation with Li Rou but was only greeted with silence.
“Guess he is not one to talk,” Guang Ho said as he shrugged his shoulder before proceeding to talk with Liu Feng.
After about 10mins the remaining top 7 students sat at their seats, Liu Feng was surprised to see Yin Yi at 10th place. Despite only being at Qi refinement 3 she was able to secure a spot in the top 10.
Yin Chen walked up to the podium and tapped the microphone before speaking, “Good to see most of the students have survived the labyrinth. Now let us not have any more delays, and proceed with the award ceremony. Yin Yi, please come upon the stage to collect the prize for 10th place.”
Yin Yi walked up shaking the hands of Yin Yi and giving her the certificate for her to enter Central University.
Following all the top 7 collecting the prizes it was not Li Rou’s turn.
“I would like to welcome the third-place Li Rou to come upon the stage to collect his prize, you will be able to enter Infinite University. Congratulations” Yin Chen shook Li Rou’s hand, after that he called upon Guang Ho.
Guang Ho happily went on stage with a wide smile. Finally, it was Liu Feng’s turn.
“Now I will call upon the champion of this competition, Liu Feng! Not only did he score a whopping 20,000 points he also found an asura who infiltrated our planet and told us his whereabouts. This achievement makes Liu Feng more than a champion, congratulations Liu Feng.” Yin Chen announced.
As Liu Feng walked upon the stage many thoughts were going through his head.
“Why does Yin Chen not announce publicly that he is the 7th central commandment?”
“Why is he telling the public that an asura infiltrated the planet?”
“Has James escaped and gone back to his planet?”
Liu Feng decided to ignore all these questions he had and enjoy the moment on stage in front of everybody.
He finally could be recognized in public as he had no reason to hide anymore, as he now had a certain amount of power in his hand.
As he looked at the certificate in his hand granting him entry to Infinite University he was overwhelmed with happiness. “Finally the biggest worry on my mind is solved, now I can focus on investigating the death of my parents.”
Walking down the stage, he was bombarded with questions from Guang Ho regarding the asura.
“How did it look like? Was it scary? How strong was it?”
Liu Feng tried his best to answer the question before exchanging numbers to keep in contact since they would be classmates in the future.
As he walked towards Han Yau his class teacher, he walked passed Yin Yi who was staring at him in disbelief as she remembered that weak boy in the cave.
“You really surprised me, getting first place like that with 20,000 points. Good job Liu Feng now let's go back home you deserve to rest.” Han Yau said patting his back.
As Liu Feng boarded the bus to head back to West District, he started to organize his thoughts on what to do next.
