Beginning

A new day dawns as Liu Feng wakes up full of anticipation of stepping on to the path of cultivation.

“Today is the day I embark on my cultivation journey,” Liu Feng said as he sat in a lotus position, he immediately swallowed the grade 1 Qi refinement pill and started rotating the basic military Qi gathering art. 20%…25%…30%….35%…40%…50%…60%…80%…100% “Arghhhh!!!!”

“Finally I am born anew” Liu Feng smiled as he observed his dantian which was slightly bigger than it was which shows that he is finally at Qi gathering 1.

“Normally a grade 1 Qi gathering pill is supposed to fill a person’s Qi by 20% but my absorption allowed me to fully use the pill without any wastage which filled my dantian by 60% 3x more than a normal person. A person could only eat one corresponding grade pill in a lifetime, since he ate a grade 1 Qi gathering pill now he will not be able to use any pills until he reaches Qi gathering 2 by himself and he also has to figure out a way to get a grade 2 Qi gathering pill, which would aid him to break into Qi gathering 3.

“Time to go to school and get me a martial skill”

Each year a student was allowed to take one martial skill from the martial building which has four floors corresponding to the year at which the students are at.

Liu Feng rushed to the school in excitement as he was eager to get his hands on a martial skill.

“Hey, where are you going rushing like that” Lei Jun chased after him asking.

“My brother thank you so much without your grade 1 Qi gathering pill I wouldn’t have broken into Qi gathering 1” Liu Feng grabbed Lei Jun and thanked him profusely.

“Wait what!? You broke into Qi gathering 1!!! How the hell?” Lei Jun exclaimed.

“Anyways good for you now it explains where you are rushing off to, I’m assuming you are rushing to the martial building am I right?”

“Yup I am heading to the martial building to get me a martial skill” Liu Feng exclaimed with visible excitement on his face.

“Come I shall follow you since I have yet to collect mine as well since I started school”

The two brothers headed out to the martial building. As they reached the martial building they had to walk through a scanner similar to a metal detector you see in the airports.

As soon as Liu Feng entered the martial building he saw rows and rows of shelves filled with jade slips, Jade slips are used to transfer martial skills directly into one's mind an invention of Dynasty Corporation.

“What Martial skill are you going to take from the school? I don’t think anything will catch your eye since you are already at Qi gathering 2” Liu Feng asked Lei Jun

“It doesn’t matter if nothing catches my eye since it is free I shall take it, as my dad always says given the opportunity you must always take it without any hesitation or else that opportunity might never come again,” said Lei Jun smugly

“Hahaha, well said brother well said” Liu Feng chimed in.

Since it was his first martial skill he wanted to pick a martial skill which aids in the speed of his cultivation, despite already having fast cultivation he wants to be able to secure the scholarship. Despite the requirements of the scholarship being Qi gathering 3 only 3 students can get the scholarship and those top students might already be at Qi gathering 4 maybe even Qi gathering 5 as all of them have been cultivating since middle school, and for those rich families, they have unlimited resources further widening the gap between the average and the elite.

Martial skills are split into 5 categories movement, regeneration, attack, defense, and cultivation boost. Regeneration can be split into two categories either Qi regeneration or body regeneration.

“What I need would be a cultivation boost martial skill,” Liu Feng said to Lei Jun.

“Than you will have to go to the right side of the martial building, I am looking for a movement martial skill since I already have a cultivation boost martial skill given to me by my father. We will meet back here in half an hour”

“And don’t forget to pick carefully since this martial skill will pave your road on the journey to cultivation” Lei Jun reminded him.

As Liu Feng walked over to the cultivation boost section he only saw 4 jade slips which surprised him as the first floor of the martial building was already filled with hundreds of jade slips but they only had 4 cultivation boost jade slips.

Liu Feng threw the question to the back of his mind as he needed to select one of the cultivation boost jade slip.

The military boost was created by humanity together with the military Qi gathering art, the beast boost allows the cultivator to cultivate rapidly but the side effects of losing their humanity are prevalent it was found in the ancient ruins of one of the planets during humanity exploration of space. The descendant boost is the boost skill used by the asuras but with human technology they made it possible for humanity to use it as well it gives the user a naturally strong body at each stage they achieve.

Martial skills are split into 4 stages which are early stage, middle stage, late-stage, and peak stage. Thus when cultivating the descendant boost aka the asura boost for each stage achieved the body gets stronger and stronger.

And the final Boost which caught Liu Feng’s eyes would be the deva boost. There was no intro or summary about the boost only the jade slip with its name, the reason it caught Liu Feng’s eyes was that he could see minuscule amounts of red Qi emanating from the jade slip similar to red Qi which emanated from his necklace. Without any hesitation, he took that jade slip and went back to the counter at the front of the Martial building to write the slip that he was taking.

There was an old man around his sixties manning the counter, when Liu Feng gave his slip the old man looked at him for a while and said “boy why have you chose this boost martial skill?”

“I’m not too sure why but I just felt like I should practice this boost skill,” Liu Feng said with respect.

“Kid do not be hasty let me tell you that this boost skill is only able to be cultivated till the middle stage as this was a remnant skill found here on Earth and nobody knows its origins the school bought it from an auction for cheap as it was incomplete to place it here to fill up the Martial Building. Other than being a decorative piece it has no use whatsoever since it is incomplete” the old man said urging Liu Feng to take another boost skill.

“I understand elder but I want this skill”

“Haizz since you are so adamant I will let you take it and just for you I will also let you change it to another skill when you come back the next time when you realize how useless this boost skill is”

Liu Feng was touched that the elder didn’t reprimand him and even allowed him to change the skill to another one, even though once a skill was taken there could be no changes.

Liu Fend places the jade slip on his forehead and felt a cool rush seeping into his brain with information on the cultivation of the deva boost.

Liu Feng gave back the jade slip to the elder and bowed and went out of the Martial building to wait for Lei Jun.

20 mins later Lei Jun came out of the martial building, “Hey brother what boost skill did you take? I took the ”

“I took the deva boost skill it is an incomplete skill,” Liu Feng said

“Than why the f**k did you take such a skill? Was there no other boost skill?”

“There was but I felt like this suited me more”

“Hey whatever floats your boat brother, whatever floats your boat”

“Umm by the way I want to ask you does your father sell grade 2 Qi gathering pills?” Liu Feng asked

“Yes my father does sell grade 2 Qi gathering pills but it cost 20 green drams”

“What 20 green dram that’s like 2000 white dram” Liu Feng exclaimed.

“I know that’s why I have not taken any yet my dad told me to work for it I think I’ll only get it in another 4 more months” Lei Jun sighed and said

“No worries I was just enquiring about the price, okay I’m late for class I’ll meet you tomorrow,” Liu Feng said as he ran for his next class.

“See ya brother and don’t forget to meet me this weekend we shall go to the Wild Lands to hunt some wild beasts” Lei Jun shouted

“See you on the weekend” Liu Feng shouted back

After school ended Liu Feng went home to check online on how to earn 20 green drams, based on what he knew selling Wild beast parts could get white dram but he was not sure of the price.

Wild beasts have the cultivation of anywhere from Qi gathering to Qi condensation and some even Qi refinement. People have heard rumors of Magical beast as well but none have seen them and those that see them do not survive to tell the tale because Magical beasts have the cultivation of the realm above Qi refinement which is the Foundation establishment realm. Which is still far from Liu Feng’s reach, those beasts can only be found in the Middle area of the Wildlands.

These Beast started showing up once the Qi in the surroundings started saturating ever since humanity started cultivating the Qi in the surroundings got denser and denser which allowed the common animals that we all know like tigers, lions, and even rabbits to evolve into Wild beast. These wild beasts can innately cultivate just by absorbing the Qi in the environment by using their body making them tougher and stronger than the animals which we use to know.

25 years after the First Great War humanity’s cities and countries could only huddle together making it strongholds while the rest of the lands became known as Wildlands.

“So one horn from a horned wolf which has the cultivation of Qi gathering 2 can be sold for 1 white dram,” Liu Feng thought to himself as he was seeing his laptop.

“That means that I alone have to kill 2000 horned wolfs….to be able to buy a grade 2 Qi gathering pill”

“This is going to be a hell of a journey” Liu Feng muttered as he went to sleep.

Sitting in a lotus position his ring finger of his right hand and thumb connected while he placed it near his dantian while his left hand lay on top of his right hand circulating the deva boost within his dantian along with the military Qi gathering Art his dantian slowly filled up after a rotation his dantian was filled up to 30% and the 10% increase was due to the deva boost. But he remembered that the old man said it was useless, “that means that this boost martial skill was meant specifically for me but why?” Liu Feng thought.

With today morning’s cultivation done his deva boost reached the Early Stage of comprehension, his comprehension speed has increased greatly ever since he formed his new dantian.

Normal people take months to comprehend the early stage and normal boost skills only increase an extra of 2% but his boost skill was a 10% increase in filling up his dantian with Qi that was again 5x the normal person cultivation.

He could only realize what was happening if he found out the origin of the necklace and himself and as to why he could cultivate faster than a normal person that question could only be answered later on, whether it is a blessing or a curse only time will tell. With 30% of his dantian filled with Qi he only had 70% more to go before he breaks into Qi gathering 2.

And since today is Wednesday he would break into Qi gathering 2 before Saturday for his hunt with Lei Jun in the wildlands. He might be able to save up money so that he can use the 2nd grade Qi gathering and rush into Qi gathering 3. Liu Feng walked to school smiling with the thought of break into Qi gathering 3 is just within his reach.
