Chapter 40
I entered the museum with haste. I wanted to finish this as soon as possible. I came across a couple guards, but I just put them to sleep before they even noticed me. Following the mana I was led to a room filled with many small glass cases. I quickly found the one that was emitting mana. Inside was the tablet piece. I reached out then froze. This was too easy to be all there is. I looked around the room, but couldn't find anything.
I eventually gave up and decided to take the tablet then worry about what happens. I phased through the glass and retrieved the tablet piece. Even with it in my hands nothing bad happened.
Falon:"Ok. I guess it really was easy. Time to go back."
I froze once more as I suddenly realized something.
Falon:"How do I get back?"
I had the tablet piece, but it didn't transport me back. I took off the necklace and tried injecting mana into it which didn't do anything. After an hour of trying different things I had used up a lot of my mana. I realized that returning home was the trial I had to complete. I left the museum with the tablet piece and wandered the city. I had used up quite a bit of the mana I had since I was using god magic and I injected a lot into the stone. Since the mana just dissipated into the air it ended up being nothing but a waste. Usually I could refill my mana by pulling it from the air, but there was none here except the little bit leaking from the stone around my neck.
I decided to not use any more magic if I can help it. I found out the date was January 6th. Actually it was already past twelve o'clock at night so I guess it's actually January 7th. As I walked down the street I thought about the stone around my neck.
*Somehow it teleported me here so there must be a way to go back.*
The only thing that seemed able to travel easily between the two worlds was mana. It's only small amounts, but it must be the clue to getting home. Suddenly I got an idea.
Falon:"That could work."
My idea wouldn't be easy and it might even kill me, but I couldn't think of any other way to get home. I gathered up the last of my mana and used it to break my body down to molecules and sent them through the hole in the stone along with the tablet piece. My vision went black.

I opened my eyes and saw the interior of the cave.
Falon:"I made it back?"
I sat up and immediately my body was wracked in pain.
Falon:"Aaaahhhhh!!!!"
I couldn't hold the scream in. Maybe I didn't fit all my molecules back together properly or maybe it just hurts to be torn apart into such small pieces. I fell back down onto the ground and stayed there. I couldn't move for a whole day without unbearable pain assaulting my body. I was finally able to drag myself out of the cave after lying around for another two days. I couldn't connect to my mana pool so I had no magic. It would probably take a while for me to regain the ability to use mana.
After another day of dragging myself towards civilization a beastgirl found me and called for help and I was taken to Drexels house. I stayed in a bed in his house for another two weeks before I could barely stand with Laya's help. Laya was there to take care of me the whole time. She was currently feeding me.
Laya:"Open your mouth."
I opened it up as wide as I could.
Laya:"You've gotten so much better."
Falon:"I...still can't.....do much."
Laya:"That's alright. You'll get better soon."
I wasn't sure if tearing my body apart was the correct way to get back here, but it worked. Healing magic didn't work and I still couldn't use magic. I was able to start a spell, but it would end up exploding. Laya finished the preparations for the transportation magic circle so we planned to leave soon using that. I was really happy since Tessa was the best bet for healing me.
Drexel didn't talk to me much since I got back. I guess he didn't expect me to return. The magic circle finally connected to the one in Gart so I told Laya we would leave today. Two beastmen carried me to the circle while Laya followed beside us. These two young men were tasked with testing the magic circle out to see if it really did what we told them it would. The four of us walked into the circle and everything instantly changed. We were in a room with stone walls surrounding us.
A guard was stationed there and was frightened by our sudden appearance, but quickly regained his composure.
Guard:"Follow me."
He led us down a hallway where four other guards were waiting. They verified our identity before letting us go. The beastmen carried me to the castle and I was taken to a room. Laya went to get Tessa and brought her to me.
Tessa:"What happened?"
Falon:"I fell."
Tessa:"That's obviously a lie."
Falon:"Sorry. Could you heal me then I'll explain."
She nodded then placed both of her hands on my chest. I felt a warm tingling feeling that started at my chest and transmitted to the rest of my body. After a few minutes she removed her hands.

Tessa:"How are you feeling?"
I sat up.
Falon:"A lot better. My body still hurts, but I can deal with that for now."
I tried focusing my mana. I still wasn't feeling great so it didn't work very well. I was able to keep it from exploding though. I explained to Tessa what happened then I finally noticed her stomach. It looked like she was about to pop.
Falon:"Tessa how long till the baby's born."
Tessa:"I think it'll be any day now."
Falon:"Any day now! You need to be in bed!"
I picked her up princess style and carried her back to her room.
Tessa:"Calm down."
I was feeling a little panicked. She could give birth at any moment. I ran around the room not knowing what to do and fell a few times since I was actually still in bad shape.
Tessa:"I said calm down!"
I froze.
Tessa:"Good. If you want to help me then give me a foot massage."
She stuck out her foot towards me.
Falon:"Sure."
I started to massage her feet.
Tessa:"You're not planning on leaving anytime soon right?"
Falon:"Of course I'm not. I will be here for the birth of my first child."
She put her hand on my cheek.
Tessa:"You promise?"
Falon:"Yes!"
She smiled at me.
Tessa:"I believe you."
After the massage I realized she had fallen asleep so I covered her up and gave her a kiss on the forehead. I placed the new tablet piece with the other two in a vault below the castle. On my way back up from the vault I was met by a maid.
Maid:"Sir. Miss Fraya, Miss Cal and Miss Ruby have just returned. They have a guest that they want you to meet."
Falon:"Lead me to them."
The maid did a curtsy then turned around and brought me to the girls. When I entered the room I scanned each of them with a glance. My eyes stopped on a brown haired girl.
Helen:"It's good to see you again Mr Falon."
Falon:"Helen? Why are you here and how do you still look so young?"
Helen:"Can we talk in private?"
Falon:"Sure....girls please leave us."
Cal:"I don't think you should be alone with her."
I gave her a quizzical look.
Falon:"Why?"
Cal:"There's something off about her."
Helen:"I am only going to talk to him."
Cal:"How do we know that's all you have planned!"
Falon:"Cal calm down. I'll be fine. You know I can take care of myself."
This was actually a lie since I could barely use magic right now, but I didn't have anything to be concerned about.
Cal:".............alright I'll leave."
Cal looked dejected as she left with Ruby and Fraya following behind. The door closed with a thud.
Falon:"So tell me what you are? You don't look any different from the last time I saw you."
Helen:"It's easy to keep yourself young if you know enough about magic."
Falon:"Eternal youth for humans isn't something easy for most people."
Helen:"Well I'm like most people."
Falon:"Fine. I'll pretend I didn't notice. Tell me why you're here."
Helen:"I just wanted to see you. After the attack on Haven you just ran off."
Falon:"I had things to do."
Helen:"We barely had any time together."
Falon:"I don't feel like playing games. Tell me why you're here."
Helen:"I want to know how your tablet piece collection is coming along."
Falon:"What do you know about the tablet?"
Helen:"I know plenty. Do you even know what it does?"
Falon:"Of course I do."
Helen:"Then what is it?"
Falon:"None of your business."
Helen:"Are you afraid that what you were told it does is a lie."
I was silent. Of course I thought of the fact that what he told me was a lie, but I couldn't do anything else. I didn't want to put my child in danger. He said it would be born without a soul if I didn't collect the tablet and become a god.
Helen:"Whatever he told you was a lie."
Falon:"Who are you talking about? I read about the tablet in a book here in the royal library."
Helen:"I would prefer the truth."
Falon:"That is the truth!"
Helen:"Fine. I can see the other pieces?"
Falon:"No."
Helen:"Please. I have the other two pieces."
Falon:"What! That's impossible! You would have to complete a trial to get a tablet piece."
Helen:"I know. I already completed two."
Falon:"Where are they?"
Helen:"I left them in a secure location. If you show me the other three I will give mine to you. I only need to see them once."
This felt like a trap, but if she really had the other two pieces then I could end this a lot sooner than I thought.
Falon:"Fine but not today. You're welcome to stay here as a guest."
Helen:"I would love to. Thank you."
I called in a maid.
Falon:"Find her a room."
Maid:"Yes sir."
Helen left with the maid.
*Should I trust her?*
I decided to keep her as a guest until I'm able to use magic again then when I'm back in good shape take the gamble of showing the tablet pieces to her.Back to Main Page

Goddess of Computation
Doing a coding assignment last minute, Ada Newth, a computer science student, fell asleep and woke up in a different world where she was informed by the System that she was randomly selected from an infinite number of universes to be a Goddess of Computation. The trouble is that she's barely passing her first class and now she's meant to be a Goddess? Worse, she can't understand why she's needed in this world where the technology level is about equivalent to that of Earth's Middle Ages. Clearly, most people can barely read or count and even the other gods are of no help. In fact, most of them are rather dangerous idiots. If she can't convince them to help her change the status quo, she'll just have to gather her allies and followers and make some major changes to the system. 21 NOV 2020:I may update all the systemshelper interface to match better with a programming language already out there. I'm thinking either C++ or Python. 20 SEP 2020: I update at least once a week - typically on the weekend. When I have more time, I'll update more. Also, note that I added a few more Tags that I thought was relevant.
