《Stuck in a game world with an OP shop》Chapter 21

Chapter 21
The second town I see is a little bit larger than the last. Iron still sells for only 10 credits, and I'm not missing anything from not waiting to sell my materials. There is an alchemy shop in this town, but I decide to pass on it. While I am here, I come across a place I've always wanted to see.
>Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild!
Oooh yeah, time to adventure and stuff. I hope I can find some quests to kill monsters that have the location of the monsters. If I could find a party, that would be good too. I remember a group of people from a few days ago. They might have been a party.
I walk inside the adventurer's guild, and it's a wasteland. Well, there just aren't many people.
"Hello," I say to the woman behind a desk at the end of the hall. The hall is big, but she is the only worker there. Oh, and she's hot.
"Welcome to the Adventurer's guild." She says, not looking up. She's a bitch. Hot, but a bitch.
"Do you have any quests for monster subjugation?" I ask her. I remember subjugations being a popular type of quests in video games, and I have to start somewhere.
"Check the bulletin board. Bring any quest you want to take to my desk." She says, pointing at a board on the left side of the hall.
I walk over to the board and look at some of the quests. There is also a large map above the board, apparently of the surrounding area. Judging by the distance from this town to the one I came from, the map covers 500 miles. I see the obsidian peaks and the holy sword of Nordas. I also check my minimap, but looking at the larger map did not add anything to my own map.

The quests are outlined very simply.
>**Quest**
>Rank: D
>Details: Gather 10 Horned Beakle Root.
>Reward: 100 Credits
>**Quest**
>Rank: E
>Details: Gather 5 Rock Gaul Eggs.
>Reward: 150 Credits
Most of the rank D and E quests are the same, to collect some ingredient that I've never heard of before. The one to collect eggs seems a little dificult, but I don't know anything about Rock Gauls. As I read all the quests, only the rank C, B and A ones interest me.
>**Quest**
>Rank: C
>Details: Kill 6 Black Tailed Fortilers in and around Black Mountain. Retrieve the fangs and tails.
>Reward: 600 Credits
>**Quest**
>Rank: B
>Details: Kill 10 Iron-Back Devil Hounds in the Obsidian Peaks. Retrieve the hide.
>Reward: 1000 Credits
>**Quest**
>Rank: A
>Details: Kill 1 Fire-Tipped Dragon in the Obsidian Peaks. Retrieve the entire body.
>Reward: 5000 Credits
I don't want to pretend to be an expert on this whole monster killing thing, but I am taking that Rank A quest. Maybe not today, but I will someday, just you wait. For now, I'll start in relative safety and take the rank C quest. I don't know what a Fortiler is, but I can probably kill it. I take the quest poster and take it to the woman at the desk.
"I'll take this quest."
"Have fun." She took one look at the quest poster and took out a paper from her desk and wrote a few things down. Without reading what she wrote, I left there. She didn't seem too happy to be working there, but I can understand. In such a magical world, I would hate having to work behind a desk.
I'm not really sure what to do now, so I check my minimap. Gone WILD! The minimap shows the locations of the Fortilers! They are a little more to the west than my house, but it should only take a day or so to get there if I hurry. I leave town quickly without looking at anything else and start straight towards the quest markers.

I ignore everything on my way to the quest markers. I don't have my bow out, and I don't want to bother with getting it out and readying an arrow. It is midday on the 27th day, and I've got a lot of distance to cover.

The Many Lives of Cadence Lee
Cadence Lee thought she was a normal girl, perhaps a little well to do, but not exceptionally so. She had her college classes, she had her job that her uncle gave her, and she had a nice boyfriend who was sweet if a little awkward. Except, when a mugger accosts Cadence and her boyfriend attempts to wrestle a gun away from the criminal, Cadence ends up shot. A normal girl, with the kind of wound Cadence had, would die. Cadence managed to do that part. But a normal girl wouldn't then open her eyes again and learn that death is not as permanant for her as it is for other people. She can be reborn again, and again. Each time stronger and with new abilities. The catch? Any world she is born into, she can never return to. She has infinite lives, but only one life for each. So begins The Many Lives of Cadence Lee. Thomas the Brawler
Thomas doesn't remember what his last name was, before it became Bluebrim, a name belonging to another universe. He's also pretty sure he wasn't this stupid before he arrived, but what can you do, when a day that was supposed to begin with an interview to set your life back on track instead begins in a universe that makes no sense, with rules you can't begin to understand? Maybe he should have paid more attention to the avatar creation screen ... Content warnings: All of them. Seriously. Expect lots of blue screens to begin with. Don't expect a power-leveling fantasy, in which the lone hero beats up all the bad guys, and gets a harem of women. There's just a guy who treats character creation like an annoying series of pop-up advertisements, and the story is basically the ramifications of that. The main character has to learn to take the world he's found himself in seriously, and he'll learn the way most of us do, by doing it wrong first. This is, insofar as it is successful, a dark comedy fantasy. Also a bit of horror, particularly but not exclusively body horror. I'm pretty sure I've earned those Content Warning tags, so, uh, yeah. This is practice. Hopefully things improve as I go, and figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I make no guarantees things will ever get better. I've already made mistakes, I'll make more, and I'm happy to notice them each time I make them. You don't improve unless you fail. (On the plus side, it probably won't get much worse.) Feel free to point out anything you think I'm doing wrong; I don't promise to change anything, particularly if it's a matter of taste, but I am looking to improve, and figuring out what I need to improve goes faster if I don't have to try to figure it out myself. I've updated the earlier chapters for formatting, in the hope that it would make everything easier to read on mobile devices. Hopefully things work slightly better now, but please let me know if there are any issues anywhere.

Death Galaxy
When portals opened across the world and space, people were a bit terrified. Naturally, some people called it the end times or some other negative interpretation. Thankfully, the new arrivals managed to calm the masses, saying they were here from across dimensions in search of peaceful refuge. After some discussion and promise from the reality hopers to not break the world, they were allowed asylum. And so, began a technological revolution as the new cohabitants, who looked distinctly human if a bit off, openly shared some of their knowledge with us. Space travel, while not cakewalks, become more easily accessible, as did interplanetary colonization. Naturally, with the New Humans keeping some of the more dangerous techs to themselves and Old Humans being a greedy bunch, tensions are arising as old and new grudges rear their ugly heads. The world endlessly spins as history, both good and bad, is seemingly on its way to repeating itself. Only with other planets, and potentially other universes, being the backdrop this time. But that was big stuff that Alex had no real interest in. They only care about one thing and one thing. TDAG. Trans-Dimensional Adventure Games. Best VR system ever made. Alex, instead of focusing on political and multiverse shenanigans, had their eyes set on VR games. Specifically, one of the new and up and coming potential best games of all times. Death Galaxy
