《Conquer the World》Chapter 2: Call me Ye Yingyuan

The day after that the preparation for the experiment was already completed.
The machines worked perfectly, the scanner showed that everything was ready and in their prime condition.
In this large room that filled with both micro-device and macro-device, a large bed that had been prepared for the subject was laid. There was so much unknown hose that connected to a large box.
Besides the large box, a large monitor showed the strange number and a 3D picture of a man.
But on the other part of the room there was a glass that separated two rooms and yes, this glass is actually a one-way glass that outsider could see inside but people from inside could not see outside.
“I’m ready at anytime. So can you stabilized the transferring processing machine there?” Manstein knew that his new method increased the chance and the after effect of the transfer reduced by several folds.
“You are really stubborn alright! We send the letter to your family especially for you.” Ben accompanied Manstein to the experimental laboratory.
When they arrived, the important person like the bald old man was here too. “Watson, you said you cannot bear to see the scene so why are you here?” asked Ben to the bald old man.
After Ben recognized Watson, they chatted about something. They were actually friends from ten years ago and also Old Man Ryner's buddy.
“Even if I can’t bear it but I was the one who decides it right? So I’m here to take responsibility for my action. The data that he showed to us made the burden from my shoulder lessen a bit.”
Watson tried to distract his own worry by talking about Manstein. “He is still young and has talent so why he volunteered himself to become the subject?”
Ben glanced at him as if he was the fool. “You know Ryner right? Because his son died in the war two decades ago, he decided to take care of his grandson. Every day he said something like ‘taking the risk to reap the result. Either you died or we advance a step forward. Every moment in our life, we need to make a sacrifice.’”
Watson only smiled wryly. “You made me remember that he really is talkative. And his guiding his grandson make the current Manstein, how can I know that he really is blessed with his grandson?”
Meanwhile, Manstein checked the monitor, the hose which size varied to a few centimeters to even a few millimeter in diameter.
Several people with the face mask and the white suit led him to the room and to the bed. “Mr.Manstein, please put the brainwave transmitter and body scanner closer to your body.”
Manstein could only do exactly as these people said. He removed his coat, his clothes leaving him only his underpants and his bare chest.
“The vessel....is it ready in place?” Manstein also checked the condition of his soon-to-be new vessel. The feeling of that made him rather nervous.
“Yes, and in perfect condition. And in fact, I actually admire you...” the person then went to the monitor to see the status that showed on it.

“Admire me? Not so bad it seems.” Manstein had laid in the bed and now he started to put the equipment on.
“The preparations are completed! Both the subject and the vessel are ready to do Soul Transfer. Please your next instructor!” a woman reported to Watson and now every single person stared at him.
Watson himself could only nod because everything that they had done was for today!
“Then execute the procedure!” exclaimed the woman. Ben stared hardly at the place where Manstein laid his body.
Manstein closed his eyes, relaxed his body and let the machines, devices and the scientists to do the job. With the additional data he had given to Watson, the chance for success should be increased.
Some button was pressed and the large square sent a certain amount of liquid that moves from the hose to the subject’s body.
“The dose should be 100 ml for the liquid. And the transfer device must set to the point of seventy-two according to the new data.” Some of them instructed the others to follow like what Manstein did in his experiment.
Ben and Watson felt the pressure in their chest as if a mountain descend upon it. They watched as everything started. The device that recording the body’s activity started to show reaction that only available when Soul Transfering!
“Okay, now turn off the second device and then you use the fourth to proceed with the transfer.”
Two people then pressed the button and the second device turned off. Meanwhile, a person also pressed the button that activated the fourth.
Suddenly a multicolor light enveloped the entire room, starting the Soul Transfer!
“Wishing that he safely transfer.” Said Ben
“Yes, I wish the same too.” Watson also had the same idea.
Manstein felt that his entire body was being torn apart. It was similar to remove the grass to the root. His sense in disarray and the only thing he know was that he must succeed
‘This pain! I feel like this is the most painful moment in my life.’
He sure that if someone here measuring his pain level, the pain that he felt now was comparable to the woman when they give birth to their child!
Even his eyes already rolled back, showing only the white part. The sound produced from the machine marked the transferring process.
But unknown to them an extraordinary thing happened right above their heads. In the sky high above the clouds, a vortex mysteriously appeared.
Nothing came of it and it absorbs nothing but when the experiment was in progress, suddenly it produced attraction force that wants to take something.
This something then revealed to be a soul that move out from the body and that soul cannot resist nor delay his own demise.
Finally, the soul flew to the vortex and then entered it. It had been separated from the body so no one can see it.
But because of that, a certain problem appeared at the experimental area but that was of no concern for that certain soul.

In a certain room and in a certain bed.
A boy who wears a robe was meditating when suddenly a vortex appeared near him. This vortex made him aware of it and he used an incantation to prepared his technique.
But nothing happened and the boy opened his eyes. Sadly, that was also when he dropped his guard and the soul flew to his body and unexpectedly entered from his eyes.
“Argghhhh!”
The pain that he felt also great and then in the Soul Realm two soul encountered each other.
“Who are you!?” the boy said that loudly. ‘Messing with my cultivation and now this soul tried to invade my body!’
His face soured because he had almost comprehended a certain thing when this soul invades his body.
“Eh? In my data there was nothing like this, what’s going on boy?” Manstein never experienced it himself so this was rather normal but for the boy, he was angered!
“What’s going on your sister! You interrupted me from my cultivating process and now you pretending to be an innocent?”
The boy protesting Manstein but he himself still thinking about the important factor regarding Soul Transfer.
“Then this is your body right?” Manstein could not help but ask. He already planned for the worst but he did not know if he could survive like this in the long term.
“Of course! Get out now before I changed my mind.” The boy then gestured at Manstein to get out from his body. The boy knew that the soul was rather weak that’s why he could speak like that.
“But how? I don’t know any method other than Soul Transfer.” Answered Manstein while he started to understand that right now, he was trapped inside another body that still has soul.
Soul Transfer naturally needed a half dead state vessel in order to work but if the vessel still has a strong body then Manstein afraid that he himself would be a goner and that was exactly his condition.
“Hei, your appearance and your clothes seem different from us. Tell me where are you from and maybe I know your origin.” The boy proposed.
Manstein also left with no other choice as he did not recognize the style of the clothes in this place.
“I came from Uguruta Country that excels in soul research and...” Manstein explained his birthplace but the boy stared at him with a confused expression.
‘From the look of it, I cannot see any sign of Nascent Energy from him. Is he really a Nascent Soul cultivator?’ thought the boy.
“...and I participate in the experiment.” Manstein tried to recall any anomaly that made him ended up here.
“I’m sorry, I never heard such a country before. Even in my families map and record, there is no such country with the name of Uguruta.”
Luckily the boy was still kind enough to answer him. ‘Maybe...he tried to hide the fact that a cultivator doing an experiment with normal people!?’
Why did the boy think like that? Because Manstein soul was too weak for a cultivator’s soul and he came from another unknown place that he never heard before. The boy hoped that he could increase his horizon from this encounter.
“Is that so?” Manstein filled with sadness. ‘Then where am I, another world?’
“What’s wrong?” in the Soul Realm even they were lifelike at expressing their emotion so the boy scratches his head.
But Manstein kept silent. “Then I’m sorry alright so don’t be angry.” The boy tried to apologize so that he could use him but Manstein totally ignored him.
“Oi!” he shouted using his energy that several times higher than Manstein to remind him. Of course, this made Manstein annoyed.
“What the....” he really wanted to curse at the boy but he stopped because this was his fault. “Sorry, I need to calm myself first. I’m not even sure what to do.”
Manstein knew that he was alone in this place and only the presence of this boy that he realized that he was a soul without a body.
“Then can we become an acquaintance?” Manstein then began his approach at the boy. This boy looks made him guessed that his age should be around ten years.
The boy hesitates for a few second before shook his head and then nodded at him. His eyes were shining like the star in the sky.
“Then you can call me Ye Yingyuan. And then what’s your name?” the boy named Ye Yingyuan asked Manstein with a curious look.
‘So it’s like that.’ Manstein wanted to laugh but only do that inside his heart.
“Manstein. Can you tell me about anything you called common sense?” he actually just tried to test the water because the boy was rather smart but who would have thought that he answered happily.
“Right now we are in my bedroom. My bedroom located in the residence of Ye family that so famous in the city.” Ye Yingyuan explained a bit about his family, the city in general.
A thought flashed in an instant in Manstein's head. “So do you still know any cultivator whose strength was above your father?” he asked with a serious look.
Ye Yingyuan had never seen someone so strange like Manstein before because mostly at his age, they focused on training their body or cultivating like himself.
“I really don’t know but my father said that the highest cultivator stage in this state was at Nascent Soul stage.” Answered Ye Yingyuan.
“Nascent Soul? Soul?” Manstein felt like a hope once again appeared inside his heart. ‘Maybe the key to understanding my circumstance and my solution started at Nascent Soul stage.’
Then Ye Yingyuan explained about martial artist and cultivator which Manstein never heard before. In his place, there was only soldier and weapon leveling.

Wildling
Blurb: Silas--a scavenger living off the ruins of humanity--has spent his entire life fighting tooth and nail to provide for himself and his crew. But when a scavenging run goes awry and he's snatched up by an android patrol, he finds himself thrown into a cage and priced to sell as a pet. And when a suitor comes calling, he fears the worst: that he'll be turned into a Domestic, a human lapdog brainwashed into total obedience. Instead, he discovers an equally disturbing truth: that the creatures who stole his world have created a videogame the likes of which Earth has never seen; a sprawling, game-like theme park where humans are the Avatars and androids are the players who control them. And to make matters worse, his android guide is as hopeless as they come, having gotten all of her previous Avatars killed in record time. So if Silas wants to regain his freedom, he'll not only have to fight his way through a world that was specifically designed to murder him in brutal fashion--he'll also have to convince his android guide that he should be the one calling the shots. FAQS: Q: Who are you, handsome stranger? A: I'm Kyle Kirrin, the author of Shadeslinger, book 1 of The Ripple System, published by Portal Books, and I write crunchy LitRPG. Q: What is Wildling? And is it complete? A: Wildling is a crunchy LitRPG mash up of Fantasy and Science Fiction. And yup, Wildling is already complete at 64 chapters, or about 120,000 thousand words. You're looking at something like a third draft here--it's fairly polished, but it hasn't been picked over by a copy editor yet nor has my developmental editor seen it. Q: Upload schedule? A: 5 initial chapters today (2/15/2021) and one chapter a day for the next month. After that I'll probably slow down to 2 or 3 chapters a week until the story is complete. Q: How crunchy is it? A: It's pretty crunchy. I'd put it on the same tier as Ascend/The Land/RSSG, but it might be a bit crunchier than those three? Q: Is this the first book in a series or a web novel or what? And what are your plans for it? A: It's currently a standalone with series potential. Full disclosure: this story may head the way of my publisher eventually, but will be available on RR for quite a while no matter what. Likely several months after it's complete with plenty of warning before/if it's taken down. Q: What kind of build does the MC create? A: Sword and board! Q: Crafting? A: Plenty! Crafting isn't as center stage as it is in The Way of the Shaman, but it's close. Q: Base building? A: Two fully separate, distinct bases, both of which play a major role in the story. Q: VRMMO? Portal? Reincarnation or what? A: This one's a bit tricky. Basically an advanced race has created a game-like world that closely resembles a theme park. Think Westworld but with copious amounts of loot. And the MC has to fight his way through that to earn his freedom. Q: Permadeath? A: Nope! The MC gets 3 lives to play through the entirety of the game world, and death is extremely punishing, but not fatal. Q: Harem? Or romance? A: No and no. Q: Cursing? Blood? A: Quite a bit of cursing, yeah. There's blood, too, but it's not a gory book by any means. Q: How can I support? A: Instead of a Patreon/donations etc, I'd ask that you consider giving my debut LitRPG Shadeslinger a chance. It's free on Kindle Unlimited and the audio is already out narrated by Travis Baldree. It's an epic fantasy VRMMO where the main character gets 3 days of exclusive access to a new game plus a snarky, talking axe to guide him through it in exchange for agreeing to become the target of a serverwide manhunt once the Head Start period ends. Q: How's it similar to Wildling? And how's it different? A. The crunch level is very similar, but Shadeslinger is a much lighter, epic fantasy take on the genre. It's also VRMMO, but without any real world components aside from the first chapter. The MC is very different--he comes off as a bit of a jerk early on and can take a bit to warm up to, especially before his backstory is revealed--but he's also got a talking axe that constantly puts him in his place. Shadeslinger's a much more humorous story in general, and it's a great deal more polished as well. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Wildling!
