《Sanctity of Blood》Chapter 06 : To the North

"ahh. I feel so free..." Said John as he ran alongside Drake, both were in wolf form.
The two red wolves were identical and they had discovered that they could communicate telepathically. At first, they thought they were hearing voices and then later discovered that their thoughts were being shared between the two of them.
"I knew you were hiding some things. Are you sure the new memories didn't say anything about this? Heck, this is even better than talking..." John inquired.
"No. I'm just as surprised as you are. With this we can say goodbye to privacy." Drake said as he tried hard not to think of something he shouldn't.
The telepathic ability couldn't come at a worst time for Drake as he was trying to hide his past and some of his Blood Magic abilities such as Ancestral Blood Awakening where he could awaken the bloodline of the first Ancestor of a species.
He only wished that the telepathic ability will disappear after they return to their human form.
"Is that blood I smell? There seems to be a lot. Someone is dying." Said John as he sniffed the air.
"You're right, I'm smelling it too. It seems to be powerful blood...perhaps a class fourteen or fifteen beast. Let's go see what's going on. This is an opportunity to make some powerful purified blood crystals." Said Drake as he ran first towards the source of the scent.
Ten minutes later, they found what looked like a normal black lion. It was crouched under the shadow of a tree. It was trying hard to breathe properly as its wounds opened even more. When the two red wolves arrived, it slowly opened its weary eyes. It weakly said, "Friends from afar, h…help me."
Drake had already decided to turn him into a few purified crystals after knowing where this powerful wolf came from. To strengthen the village, he needed lots of high level purified crystals and to get them, he needed powerful beasts above class 9.
"It just talked in my head just like we do. Is it possible that it can read our thoughts like us?" John asked.
"No. I think this just is how beasts communicate." Drake said.
Drake could feel that his mind wasn't connected with the mind of the black lion. What the lion did by sending its words telepathically was just a way of communicating among beasts.
"What happened to you, comrade? Maybe we can escort you home." Drake said as he approached.

The lion appeared scared as it said, "No. Not home. I'll be killed if I go there…My…My nephew has gone crazy. He's killing anyone he suspects to be against him."
From the lion's words, it seemed that there was a settlement of powerful beasts not far from them, at least in the Brightwood Mountains. That was good news. Now, all that remained was to know where that settlement was.
"I can see that you will not be able to survive. If you want revenge…we have nothing better to do at the moment…so just point us in the right direction and we'll take care of your nephew for you." Drake tentatively asked the black lion.
The black lion's fading consciousness heard the words and then thought that his two helpers were insane. His nephew, Simba, had just broken through from late stage Nascent Soul and had reached the Void Beast realm… and then there were thousands of Nascent soul in his personal army …not counting the countless Golden cores…How could his two helpers get revenge for him?
It is true that the Lion couldn't feel an ounce of cultivation from these two over-sized red wolves, but that could only mean that they were either too strong for his dissipating Nascent soul to feel anything or they had no cultivation at all…but from the way they were eager to exact vengeance on his behalf, the black lion surmised that they were indeed strong and arrogant…but no matter how strong they were, they were nothing against the Lion King Simba and his cronies.
"Quick! Tell us where that nephew of yours is so we can get revenge for you." Drake said quickly as he felt the life of black lion fading.
"Go…north… At this point, the black lion didn't know what it was saying. It didn't even have the energy to think that the two wolves were suspicious to be so eager to throw their lives away for it.
"Oh before you leave us…can you tell us your name? We'll be sure to tell your nephew who sent us for his head." Said John with an amused tone in his telepathic voice.
"Mu…Fa…Sa." The lion said in its last breath.
Drake was stunned, "Mufasa? Don't tell me his nephew is called Simba. That would be quite funny."
John was surprised and confused, "Why would it be funny? And how can you even guess his name without knowing him?"
"Let's just call it a hunch." Said Drake as he pointed his paw in the direction of the dead Mufasa.

'Blood Magic : Level 6 purification.'
The blood on the ground and the blood inside Mufasa's body then converged onto one point, then two points and then three points. Those three points then started going from the red color of blood to the white color as they crystallized.
"Three white crystals? I thought they would be a deeper shade of red like all those level 3 and below crystals you have in your storage pouch?" John inquired.
"I don't know. I think they change color every three levels. Here eat them all, you'll need the strength for what's to come." Said Drake as he sent the three levitating crystals to John's mouth who ate them in one gulp saying, "Don't mind me if I do."
As he ate them, he felt a hot current going throughout his wolf body and he seemed to be growing a little bit.
"Wow. This is already three times the power I gained by turning into a red wolf and it keeps climbing." Said an elated John as he kept feeling his body growing stronger every second.
"If you eat at least a hundred of them, you'll be stronger physically than immortal Evelyn was." Said Drake.
"I could eat a thousand and then become the strongest man in this world, hahaha." John was still lost in his growing power.
"They'll eventually stop being potent. My guess is by the time you've eaten two hundred level 6 purified crystals, they won't be of use anymore." Drake crushed his father's fantasy.
Drake then tapped on the storage pouch that was hanging on his neck like a pendant, and then retrieved two green crystals.
Seeing those green crystals, John then asked with curiosity, "Are those level 7 purified crystals?"
"No. They are Ability crystals of the wood element. I have eight in total. They came from the refinement of the green Dragon's innate ability of wood. Here, ingest one." Drake said as he made one of the green crystals levitate towards his father. Drake then ate the other Wood Ability Crystal.
A green light appeared on their bodies as they ingested the crystals. Immediately, it's like they had become one with nature, understanding it and knowing how to bend it to their wills.
As the absorption was complete, drake then went to a tree to try his new powers. He put his paw on a tree and thought about absorbing its vitality as he naturally felt like he could do it. As he gave the command to absorb the vitality, the tree then started withering. Before long there were no more leaves as tree looked like it had aged considerably.
John was calmly looking from the side as he said, "I don't think that's all we can do."
"Yes, in short, we can transfer vitality from one living thing to another. We can make plants grow and even make people live longer by sacrificing vitality. If we do not take that vitality we use from other living things, we tap into our own so it's possible that you could kill yourself trying to transfer vitality." Drake said.
John looked happy as he said, "It's pretty cool to have as my one and only ability. Here I was thinking that it had been wasted on me. I would've preferred to have fire or lightning as my bloodline ability, but this one is just fine. I'm not complaining anymore."
"What do you mean your one and only ability? You think that you can't get more?" Drake asked.
John said, "Isn't that how it works? In our records about immortals back in the village, it is well known that humans and a beasts can only contain one Bloodline ability in their bodies. Even if the parents have different Bloodline Abilities, the kid will only inherit the dominant ability."
Drake nodded in understanding as he said, "I understand, but we're different now. The Red Wolf can contain as many abilities as it is given. It is even beneficial for it as it grows stronger as well."
"Drake…I gotta tell you…I don't think that my mind can take it anymore…your powers are too dangerous for the village. Do you know that if the ability to harness multiple bloodline abilities reaches the ears of the immortals, you'll be hunted down and dissected so they can understand what gives you those abilities. If they get wind of the knowledge that you can turn anyone into a red wolf you'll be enslaved for the rest of your life." A worried John said.
"I thought as much…but as long as everyone in the village is stronger than those who will come knocking on our doors, we'll be fine." Seriously said Drake.
"Yeah, Let get going. The night is still young." John said.
"Yeah, to the north."
