《Hades' Evolution》Chapter 6 Deception

Today was the day they would regret capturing a random goblin. taking a look at Para panting heavily in the corner, I swear I will help her and find my friends in this damn forest
Chapter start
Alright, I’ve got the means to kill the guard in 2 mana bolts, however, I’d still rather not have it come to that, I just wanted a way to defend myself, in case things got ugly and he decided to kill us. And I still got the hunters upstairs to deal with afterwards, Researcher told me that this guy was rather weak, even though I’m pretty sure he would be close to one-shotting me, so the hunters would undoubtedly kill me instantly.
With that, I started trying to think of something. They haven’t changed guard this entire time, and a new Lizardman comes by when giving out food to us and the guard. He doesn’t seem talkative with them, maybe I could convince him to let us out instead?
“Hey guard, I never asked your name? Mines Lilith” he didn’t answer ” I feel like you’re probably as bored as us, so why not talk a bit?” I continued
He sighed “My name’s Lio Ichta Zorban Achria Robli Driobla, I’m surprised you talk out language”
I don’t get it, they all talk English to me? Maybe my system interface has some kind of translating ability? But why didn’t he interfere when I was talking to Para. Perhaps it not only translates them but when I’m talking to someone what I say is translated to the targets language.

I realized I had been quiet for a while when I looked up at his shadowy figure and he was staring right at me “It’s nice to meet you, Lio, is there any reason you have been stationed here? It seems more like a punishment than a duty when you can’t leave”
He replied “I’m not ‘stationed’ here, I’m a prisoner for being weak”
“That sucks, but don’t you lose the chance to get stronger when you can’t hunt and gain EXP and skill levels?” I replied
He put on a confused expression, his one eye raised “ E-X-P? levels? I don’t recognize that word? However one cannot become stronger without being born so. I am weak, and I will stay weak”

So these guys don’t get EXP? They just got born that strong!? While I have to painstakingly attempt to kill things stronger than me. Or with my new skill however that only helps my race. It does mean that I can get stronger though in the end. But only after spending time doing so, time I don’t have.

He seemed to still be a little sad after telling me he was weak, his spider claw mouth drooping a bit more than usual and I felt bad for him. If I could I would give him some way of leveling and evolve like me, so he had a chance among his brethren. That would make it a lot harder to escape though, but it gave me an idea.
“If I could give you a way to get stronger than even your tribe, could you free us?”
He looked up very surprised but quickly turned to scepticism “Such a thing is simply not possible. You are even weaker than I am, and you think you can make ME stronger!” he sounded like someone had insulted his pride.
I took note of his pride not wanting to get on his bad side. I did feel a little pang of annoyance at the part where he said I’m weaker, I could II2 shot you at range pal! I calmed my annoyance quickly, I did after all just seem like a normal goblin, even if I was anything but normal, from what I knew of Para. I replied “I do, I can help you evolve into a better version of yourself. Becoming stronger and tougher in the process. However, it might take me some time as I don’t know how to activate this power”
He kept his scepticism but didn’t look as annoyed. “I have heard of the small green ones rituals and odd magic that increases their warrior’s strength. They are said to be few and far between each being born, it said the reason we haven’t taken over the green smalls territory is that one such being has interfered and greatly increased their strength. Making their weak groups, become strong hordes”
So my species has a mage? Maybe I could get in contact and learn some more magical skills but right now I needed to keep this bullshit train going “Yes, I didn’t want to say it in case you would kill me on the spot if you knew, but I am one of those magicians. I can give you strength, where others would give up on you, I see the potential within you. Just let us out and stick with me for a while, I don’t have much strength myself as you said but I can give you ranged support”

He was looking more and more thoughtful while I was speaking but it seemed my words were reaching him “I can become a Leader, no longer having to follow the rules of the old one. I can dominate instead of serve! I will free you, and help you on your journey. But if you do not hold your promise, I will rend you precious flesh from your bones!”

He got up and started taking the spears that kept us in here out. I was slightly worried about the domination part, but I didn’t have much choice but to take his help currently. Para was listening to the entire time but had held her tongue, not understanding our words, when he took out the spears that held us here from her cell she looked at me.
“What is happening? Why is the lizard removing the spears? What did you say to him? Am I gonna die?!” she asked, getting slightly more panicked with each question
“Don’t worry, he is on our side. I convinced him that helping us would benefit him, so he is gonna help us get home” I replied. I didn’t really wanna tell her that I told him I was a goblin mage since she knew that I wasn’t even from the tribe.
Deception 1 -> 2
I didn’t like lying as I did to Para and Lio, but it was either that or killing Lio and having to deal with the consequences of the hunters coming to investigate the commotion. This way not only did Lio survive, but I gained some protection. I had gained a sizable amount of hp since I started, but I couldn’t count out the fact that I had been lucky and met weaklings. There could be much stronger beings out there besides them, as well as more lizardmen.
Lio threw the spears to the side after giving each of us one, Para wasn’t able to hold it however and dropped it after trying her hardest to hold on. “She is too weak and will only slow us down. We should leave her here as bait” Lio said looking at Para with disdain, making her flinch
“We aren’t leaving her behind, I made a promise to myself to help her” I didn’t like his heartlessness. And I couldn’t tell him I needed her to show us the way to the goblins, which would indicate that I didn’t know already
He changed his gaze to me “Fine. But if we are caught because of her, I’m going to make sure you experience a slow death”
I shivered remembering being eaten by my slime for several hours. I doubted he was able to top that. But making a ranking list of top 10 deaths wasn’t on my to-do list either. If he turned on us, fortunately, I had the trusty mana bolt that I could blast him with if it came down to it.
I had a spear at least, and with the way Lio held his, he looked like he was very used to using one. It was in an early day with rain pouring down, that we realized... we should wait until night-time when the jungle has regrown, after all, walking in plain open after the forest was inviting them to find us again. Lio then helped me put back the spears as well we could so the person coming with food didn’t become too suspicious. If I could see colours in this darkness, I’m pretty sure Lio’s albino face would be a slight pink.
I continued feeding my Mana bolts to Material conversion pausing only to eat which after 501 mana bolts granted me another 3 levels in Goblin Druid, as well as 15 levels in mana bolt and 3 in Deep Breaths. After putting all my points into intelligence I looked at my character sheet

Mobius
Far in the future, humans have thoroughly colonized space through the use of floating colonies and artificially replicating the Earth whenever possible. Most of these endeavors have gone well, with humanity spreading across the universe like the seeds of plants floating in the wind. Yet still there lurks the great mistake, the endless station of Mobius, a megastructure which hasn't ceased its building in over a century. Dante, a man living in this megastructure, is tasked with the recording of stories told by criminals, particularly those who travel between strata. One day, a prisoner is captured claiming to be Captain Pluto, an infamous criminal thought to be fictitious by most scholars. Even more curious, he claims to hail all the way from Stratum 56, a location so far away from Dante's Stratum 999 that it would take lifetimes to traverse such a distance. Dante must discern whether or not the story is false or true, and the longer he lets Captain Pluto speak, the more difficult his task becomes. *****Average chapter length will be 10k words give or take. This isn't a very serious story for me. I'm writing this to blow off steam. Updates will happen infrequently because of this, and it will most likely be unpolished unless I begin to take it more seriously.

However, Gaius gazes not at the present, but at the future beyond. What does he see there? And what will he do? Book 13: Destiny Divergent Synopsis: Bells ring, and destiny veers.
