《Inertia》Chapter 5: Earth

I awake to Anivia gone from the bed, and though the bed accounts for body heat and warms accordingly, I feel an odd emptiness. I shake away the feeling and get ready for the day. Just to the left of my... our bed from the main entrance is the bathroom, to the right the walk-in closet. I go into the bathroom, and instead of going with the most typical instant shower that this world has, I instead decide to take my time with a real shower, enjoying the warmth of the water hitting my back.
Showering is one of the times I think the most clearly, and the most honest. I reflect on my past, and I sigh. My only goal in life has been completed, and that goal was only made in my personal escape of life. What do I do now with my life?
I finish my shower solemnly and prepare myself for the day. As I walk into the closet, I don't even think about the impressive visuals before me. The white lights change to match the color of the outfit I've chosen, which each wall is filled with hung shirts and jackets, and the back wall is filled with drawers of undergarments, as well as folded pants. After dressing myself in my standard red and black embroidered attire, I make my way to the bridge.
"My Lord, we have received an invitation from Kingston Rowe. Shall we embark to Earth?" A lady wearing a grey and gold uniform stands next to my captain's chair.
Right... She's my assistant. It took me a moment to recognize her, as she was just an NPC I hired on a whim for the fun of it because she had a gorgeous voice. Much better than the normal, gruff male assistant. What was her name?

"Ah, Kara. Yes, let's leave. I'd have to meet him at some point, anyway. Let's make a stop after the ships in the Void Rift finish their repairs."
"Yes, sir..." My lackluster response causes Kara to have an odd reaction, but she tells the technical specialists and we begin our journey to Earth. Since warp will take a while, an idea comes to my mind.
I press a button down on my captain's chair, and my voice echoes throughout the ship. "All ship captains please report to Gold Meeting Room." Since all of the captains are on my ship, I decided to address them through local comms.
Kara gives me a nod as I leave the bridge. Luckily, Gold Meeting Room is just a bit outside the bridge for convenience during flight, just in the case something goes wrong and I need to hurry back to the bridge. I make my way to the white door with gold highlights, meeting Anivia as she turns the corner.
"Ah, honey." She says in a vaguely irritated tone.
There she goes again with "Honey"...
"I'm sorry I didn't message you that I'd be staying so long... I got wrapped up with the, uh... kids." I barely hold back the want to shiver as I begin to remember what happened last night.
"It's ok... just message me next time." She hugs me and kisses me on the cheek, then walks into the Gold Meeting Room.
Yes, my heart skipped a beat. Yes, my vitals monitor did beep at me. Yes, I'm frozen.
It took me a moment to recollect myself before I put up my "Lord Darian" facade, just in time to see Ragnor turning the corner, looking a bit sleepy.
"You alright, Ragnor? You seem a bit tired." I attempt to make some banter to ease the remnants of nervousness in my body.

"You don't look too hot, either, my Lord." He says with a bit of a smile before entering the room.
I didn't realize it until then, but yeah. I do feel quite exhausted.
It's those damn spiders.
I follow Ragnor inside, the long, white and gold table going length-wise in front of me, with grey and white seats for the captains with exclusion of one, quite large seat. In the back of the table is a large, grey and red chair for me. I sigh, as I dislike to stand out, but I have to bear with it as I walk over and sit down in the chair. Anivia sits patiently in the chair to my left, and Ragnor two chairs down to my right.
Soon enters Aurora with an almost haughty gait, followed by the giddy Livia, and later followed by Tera.
"Apologies, m'Lord. The children had to be fed." Tera says after entering last.
I don't even want to imagine what she means by "fed"... Please just be something normal...
"Ah, it's alright, Tera."
I recollect myself and my facade, then stand up before the captains. With a flick of my wrist, the table comes alive, showing the Solar System, where humans originated from.
"This evening, we'll be stopping by Earth to see Kingston Rowe. He is most likely going to congratulate us on our victory against Exavier..."
Anivia rolls her eyes at the name Kingston Rowe. Understandable. He's the leader of the Humans and is a huge Human supremacist. Because of his nature, he went to war against multiple races and the Human race almost got annihilated. There's nothing you can do in the game to dethrone Kingston, but now that this is real...
"I plan on going to war against Kingston Rowe."
Everyone at the table would be shocked, Ragnor losing his cool and almost falling off his chair.
"ARE YE CRAZY?!" Ragnor's so surprised he falls back into his original accent from before I even met him in-game.
"Er... Excuse me." He clears his throat and continues, "Are you sure about this? Kingston may be weakened, but he still has a whole race behind him... We're no military..."
"I know, but he has committed several atrocities and now that Exavier's gone... We don't have to worry about getting betrayed. I think he plans on betraying us anyways soon. We just have to betray him before he betrays us."
The captains look down thoughtfully. After some time, Anivia speaks up, "So, what's the plan?"

Gamble
My name is Vak Tychus. Aside from the, regrettably striking name, there were very few things I'd judge, that made me - me. The name had to do with chance or fate. Adelaide
The entries here are transcribed from the log of Marie Ruiz, first mate of the Adelaide. It was definitely, definitely not published without her permission or knowledge by a certain lovable artificial intelligence for the purpose of sharing it with my AI friends on other ships who follow it like a soap opera. No way, no how. Remember guys, don’t go spreading this around too much. Only pass it on to those you can trust. God forbid this should ever end up on a public network… (Adelaide is a science fiction web serial featuring the adventures of a crew of smugglers. In space. It’s on the softer end of the soft/hard sci-fi spectrum because the author got a C in physics. Updates every other Sunday.)
