《Inertia》Chapter 3: First Battle in Another World

Once Livia summoned all of the requested ships, the enemy was almost within range.
4 C-Class Corvettes, 1 C-Class and 1 B-Class Frigate, and a luxury Yacht. The C-Class Corvettes are outfitted with only physical/round-based weaponry, as well as the C-Class Frigate. However, the B-Class Frigate is using magic-based weaponry, which is especially challenging due to the slimes' weakness to magic.
"Livia, push forwards to the C-Class Frigate while keeping supressive fire on the C-Class Corvettes. Make sure they're forced out of your firing range. If possible, enhance your forward range with a propulsion spell. We want them to stay in front of you, yet far to the left."
"Yes Master!"
"Anivia, I'll have my ship cast an illusion spell on the two of us. Our job is to hit the B-Class magic-based Frigate before it can reach Livia, or else we risk casualties."
"Yes Lord Darian!"
The vision outside of the bridge's glass becomes distorted for a short while as we become invisible. We begin a long route around the battle to hit the B-Class Frigate in its weak spot.
Livia's POV:
Master told me some complicated stuff... I hope one of my specialists got the part about... prople... propul... propulsion? All I understood is build wall! I build wall!
I can see my Slimelings begin to shift into blocks, forming into a wall. Once they finish, the enemy ships draw near. As they fire upon us, I cheer, "Go Slimes!", getting a few laughs from the specialists. Not a single bullet of the enemy's makes it past my Slimelings. However, pain fills my stomach, and groan slightly. I still haven't recovered completely from my injuries...
Just then, sissy Anivia appears on my screen!
"Livia, you alright? I just got a reading of an injury. Your body's still damaged... Did creating the Slime Defenders overdo it?"
I smile, "No silly! I'm fine! I am invincible!"
She giggles, "Alright. Please don't go overboard. If you suffer any damage, I'll have Lord Darian find us an escape route."
"No! Livia fights!" I pout slightly.
She gives me a heartwarming smile, "Alright. Just be careful. I'm worried." Then Anivia disappears from in front of me!
"Miss Livia, permission to follow Lord Darian's orders for A-Class propulsion magic for left weaponry." a weapons specialist says to my left.
"Yes! Do the thing!"
Then a bew, zhap, wooooooom as the magic charges up! I've always found magic really cool, but I could never use it... Sissy Anivia can, though! She's cool!
The sounds of the side cannons faintly reaches my ears, firing on the opponent!
Oh no! One of their corvettes manages to break through our gun range!

”All power to right thrusters!”
The specialists give me an odd look before I pump my fist, “We’re going to ram them!”
The Membros begins picking up speed towards the corvette. It turns to run away, but they’re too slow! We slam, pow! Their corvette smashes into pieces and boom! It explodes! I cheer, and a few specialists join in with cheering and laughter!
”Livia, you’re too far out of position. For now, move back to where you were and begin to push up, splitting the corvettes and C-Class Frigate from the B-Class Frigate.” Master says as he blinks into existence right in front of me.
”Yes Master!” I smile, and once he disappears I yell, “All power to left thrusters!”
We move back to where we were, and now it’s time! “Put, uh... most power into shields! And some in weapons and forward thrusters!”
Some specialists give each other some weird looks and shake their head smiling. What’s wrong? Did I miss something funny?
Anivia's POV:
Lord Darian said we're doing a flanking maneuver, but why are we going through the middle of the fight now? Can't that reveal us if we're hit?
"Lord Darian..."
"What is it, Anivia?"
"Why are we going through the middle of the enemy's lines instead of flanking?"
He chuckles, and whenever he chuckles during a battle it's never good. "There's a fatal flaw in that B-Class Frigate with magic-based weaponry."
"What could that be?" my voice comes out confused. I used to be Elvish royalty, and even I never heard of any flaw.
"The space inbetween their two main guns has hull almost as thin as paper. Almost anything physical-based can get through it."
"B-But we don't have any physical-based weaponry! I'm magic-based and you're in a reconnaissance ship!"
"I was originally going to flank around, but seeing Livia in action gave me an idea."
I gasp, "You don't seriously plan to..."
"Yes. I'm going to ram right into them. Since my ship has a narrow nose, I can go right through with next to no damage. It leads directly to artificial ley lines that conduct mana to the-"
"Honey you can't do that! What if it doesn't go as planned, or their turrets hit you in the process! Your ship is just barely narrow enough, but just a couple meters in either direction and you're at risk of getting shot!"
He's completely silent. What is going through his mind?
"Honey? I'm worried!"
"I'll be fine." and thus he vanishes from my seat's holographic display. I weakly slam my fist into the seat. "He's so reckless! But it's kind of cool..." I whisper the last part so no one can hear me.

Darian's POV:
As I close the terminal's communications and Anivia's gorgeous sky-blue eyes that pop against her flowing, green hair disappear. I sit there in shock for a few moments.
HONEY?
I mean, the quest I took to recruit her did force me to woo her enough to leave her kingdom... I'm not used to my choices in the game becoming reality. Now I have to remember everything I did so I don't mess anything up. I resist the urge to curl up into a ball and hold my head in shock, as who knows what the three other captains on board, along with the specialists, would think of me. I look to my left at Ragnor and Aurora, then to my right at Tera. It seems neither of them are paying much attention right now, but Ragnor seems quite nervous, probably because I'm about to ram a frigate with a recon ship. A few deep breaths later, my mind begins to calm down.
I mean... She is quite beautiful, and her personality was meant to be caring, but I think I'm missing something...
I shake my head lightly to dispell the thoughts, and focus on the task at hand. I am quite literally threading the needle on this, even just a small mistake on my part or unexpected movement from the enemy and I could potentially die. My ship has no defenses, instead minmaxing into Stealth and Shadow magic. There are a few offensive spells I could use, but my ship doesn't have the mana capacity nor conductivity required to construct those spells.
I sigh, remembering I forgot to give orders to Anivia. As she returns to my holographic display, she smiles.
"Have you changed your mind on your strategy?"
"No. It's the best shot we have."
She pouts, but it looks damn cute...
"I need you to circle to the right of their ships, and land a smite exactly 30 meters behind their bridge. That's where their ley line conductor is held. If you hit that, it'll cause system-wide failures. Such an inefficient setup, seriously..."
"Yes, Lord Darian." she says in a way that seems passive-aggressive. I'm assuming I'll have to deal with her later.
After a few minutes, it's finally our time to shine. We line up directly inbetween the frigate's main front cannons. I push the quick communications button for Anivia, "Anivia, are you in position?"
"Yes." Jeez, short and terse.
"Wonderful. Fire when you see the explosion."
"EXPLOSION?! Lord Daria-!" I cut her off. Oops, slip of the finger.
"75% power to front-facing shields. 25% to forward thrusters."
The specialists nod to me as the allocate the power, and we begin to pick up speed as we move forward. Since the B-Class Frigate has finally gotten within range of the Membros, it has begun firing. Even though it's weak magic, it's still doing some damage due to the Membros' weak magic affinity.
A rogue Arcane Meteor almost hits the bridge, but narrowly misses. "5 meters to the left, please."
Once we reach the hull, we cut through like a knife through butter, ending our invisibility as well. The sharp tip of my recon ship gets smashed slightly, but we make our way through.
"All power to forward shields! Activate Shadow Armor on the front-facing portion of the ship!"
The specialists activate the spells just in time for the explosion, and their frontal turrets implode due to the magic differential. As if perfectly on cue, the light from a powerful smite fills the bridge as Anivia destroys their conductor. The frigate's engines stop and all excess cannons stop firing.
I quickly contact the Membros, "We're all finished with the frigate! You can go on the offensive!"
"Anivia!" I quickly switch over to the Yggdrasil's communication channel, "Swiftly go and help Livia. Repair her damaged hull first before going on the offensive. Make sure to stay behind her wall."
"Yes, Lord Darian."
I sigh, watching the battle finishing up as my specialists slowly back my ship away from the destroyed frigate, being careful not to disrupt the leaking mana.
The Membros gets swiftly healed by the Yggdrasil, and the Slime Defenders that were being used as a wall previously now return to their ship forms and focus on shooting down the remaining enemy forces. Once one more is destroyed and another is severely damaged, I get hailed.
A quite red and angry face of a particular Elf fills the hologlass.
"Why hello there." I smirk.
"I... Surrender." he practically spits out the words like he's disgraced.
"Wonderful, now warp out of here. Oh, get a tractor beam tow for your good ol' frigate over here."
His face contorts as if he's been shot. The enemy's ships finally turn and activate their warp drives, building up a beautiful blue color. "You've made yourself an enemy of the Elves!" he says angrily as his remaining ships disappear into the void of space in an instant, and ending the hail.
"That was... A stressful fight. My first in this new world, and with almost no fleet." I sigh and look at my hands, they're trembling slightly.
