《Solitary Sovereign》25. Easy Work

The sun glared from up above while Yun Fei trudged on with a slight limp.
Real battles aren't so easy. It would've been bad if a poisoned arrow had hit me. Battles still are very good to test out techniques, I didn't think the idea I had would be this effective.
He had thought of this way of utilising his Qi when he was cultivating in the underground chamber.
This move had two layers to it. First, all the muscles in the legs had to be oversaturated with Qi. You had to make the Qi diffuse through the meridians in the legs and flood into the muscles, which required a certain amount of control and technique and above all else a high saturation of Qi.
This step wasn't too hard for Yun Fei, since his body already had a chaotic flow of Qi. He just directed that flow towards the lower part of his body and also increased the Qi in the meridians in his lower body.
Flooding Qi into the muscles made them able to exert greater amounts of force and execute feats which were impossible based on the normal strength of the muscles. This phenomenon could be facilitated and upgraded even further by utilizing the Qi within the meridians in techniques.
The second step of the technique however was much trickier than the first one. To do this, you had to completely ignore your own safety and any mental limits your brain might have placed to protect the body.
Since the goal of this technique was extreme speed, the maximum possible, at his current level. Yun Fei had a very genius idea according to himself which would lead to greater speed in a very short time span.
It was perfect for super-fast dash at close distances. Yun Fei was somewhat proud of himself for discovering such a revolutionary way of utilising Qi.
He however did not realise that if any experienced cultivator had seen his 'revolutionary' way of utilising Qi, they would want to really beat him to death for calling such a barbaric and self-destructive method 'revolutionary'.
What Yun Fei had discovered was that if he kept flooding Qi into a part of his body, and then kept flooding it till he felt a lot of pain but still kept flooding it while ignoring the pain and then kept flooding it while ignoring the funny noises his body sometimes generated, something magical would happen.
What was magical to Yun Fei would actually be a complete thankless torture to almost anybody else. This thankless thing was an explosion, it was an explosion of Qi, along with a fine mist of blood and a lot of pain, maybe even complete decapitation.
If any head strong cultivator ever fell onto Yun Fei's revolutionary way, he would certainly be bedridden for weeks on end, if not months; because of the backlash from the erratic handling of this natural energy.
As a certain sage had mentioned in olden times- Art is an explosion. Yun Fei was completely engrossed into this study of artistic explosion and he had experimented a lot to be actually able to create a propulsion system which he was able to use to move very fast.

All this experimentation and the creation of a controlled version wouldn't have been possible if not for Yun Fei's monstrous recovery ability.
Wounds which others would take months to recover would take Yun Fei only hours. Using this superior ability, he kept experimenting as soon as he recovered. Always keeping in his mind, the results of his previous tests.
Using this way of destruction and recovery of the soles of his feet, Yun Fei had finally been able to derive a version of the explosion which would be controlled and be only in the direction he intended.
This technique still wasn't something that any other cultivator at Yun Fei's level could attempt to imitate, since the injuries a normal person would receive from using this technique would lead to them being unable to walk for 2-3 days.
Someone like Yun Fei however, didn't even need to sit down and relax. He only had to slow the speed of his walking and wait some time for the ache in the soles of his feet to fade away.
Still a little happy by the results of his technique in a real fight, Yun Fei carried on into the grove of trees when he suddenly felt the talisman react.
Looking at the token sensing talisman he had confiscated from the female archer, Yun Fei grinned as he thought to himself.
Looks like I won't have to waste my time finding a target.
This talisman which told the position of a token combined with his archery was truly a perfect match.
The only reason Yun Fei was even able to survive the attack from the female archer was his sphere of perception granted to him by Sun Ming's Eye technique.
He didn't think that anybody else would have such good things like the eye technique he had, they could only be sitting ducks waiting for him to shoot them down.
His feet now completely recovered from the damage, Yun Fei increased his speed and changed his direction to get closer to the unfortunate owner of the token.
Stopping right out of the grove of trees, there was a sharp depression in the ground which made Yun Fei's position to be on the top of a small cliff. He kept his eyes peeled as he scanned the plateau in front of him.
The talisman showed the owner to be in this dusty plateau in front of him, who he was sure to spot given his exemplary vision. Without any suspense, Yun Fei soon discovered the person which had the token.
As he looked at the person, Yun Fei mumbled to himself that he had indeed caught this fellow at quite the opportune moment. He didn't know if his luck was good or if this guy was just the poster boy for bad luck, it might just be an unfortunate coincidence.
What greeted Yun Fei's eyes just as he homed in on his target was a tall and burly man who was fiddling with his clothes near a boulder. The man stopped his rustling and became completely relaxed as the sound of his splattering micturition echoed along the cliff, mixing into the sounds made by the wind.

...... Who pisses on an open plain. Does he think the test is a joke? This bastard deserves being pierced by an arrow.
Not willing to let go of this perfect target in front of him, Yun Fei took his bow and arrows out. Thinking two arrows to be perfect for the initial strike he applied the paralysing poison paste to the arrow head and released the first arrow with a somewhat higher trajectory than necessary.
Without wasting even an instant, he released another arrow with flatter trajectory. Because of the difference in their angle of release, both the arrows reached their target at approximately the same time.
"AIYAIYAAAAAAAAH!!!!!"
A stupid shout rang out in the otherwise quiet plains, completely suppressing the howling of the winds.
Are humans even capable of such loud noises? I feel like I've shot some wild animal.
Yun Fei thought as he hid himself out of sight.
At the side of the boulder the injured man gave of some more painful moans and howls as he hurriedly pulled up his pants before extricating the arrows from each of his buttocks.
What a vile attacker, is this any place to shoot an arrow? I'll beat him to death if he dares to appear before me.
"Who is it? You bastard come out and fight like a man."
Yun Fei was floored by the overwhelming stupidity of this muscle head.
The first thing to do when ambushed would be to take cover or at least try to gain some initiative by any means necessary, but all this retard did was stand in the exact same spot shouting at the hills, as if someone equally foolish would respond.
Feeling some guilt over bullying such a simple guy, Yun Fei counted down from 10 and then walked out wearing a pitying expression.
The hulk of man broke into an indignant expression, shouting and running towards Yun Fei.
“You coward, feel my wrath." His words trailled off as his legs failed him and he slid across the ground mid run.
He fell to the ground with a loud thud, the paralysing poison had finally taken its effect.
Yun Fei walked to the man lying face down on the ground and flipped him up with his legs. He knew that even though the man was paralysed he could hear and see well enough.
Feeling awkward due to the sheer ease of this encounter, Yun Fei smiled with a glint of guilt at the rigid board-like body as he patted through his clothes.
"Fuck, piss." shouted Yun Fei as his hand encountered dampness in the man's trousers.
"You dirty dog." Yun Fei exclaimed as he kicked the man away.
If the man could move he would surely have jumped at Yun Fei in indignation.
Carefully avoiding the previous portion, Yun Fei searched the petrified body once again.
Yun Fei exclaimed his surprise with a sharp intake of breath, this guy had beaten down another guy and taken his token too.
This fool, really? He has a tracking talisman as well as another token. Just who did he manage to beat down with his pea brain. It really is true that the world has no shortage of idiots.
Sorting through the rest of the stuff he set aside a little food as well as the searching talisman.
Kicking the still paralysed man again and pushing him into a few nearby shrubs Yun fei admonished,
"Who the fuck pisses out in the open, have you ever heard of taking cover?
You retard, do you seriously believe that someone will forfeit their advantage and come out into the open to answer your challenge?
Anyway, I feel bad for the people who have raised you. They definitely didn't want to raise someone as stupid as a pig.
I'll leave the searching talisman with you. Try to think something before moving from next time."
Saying this Yun Fei kicked the guy once more and threw the supplies he had set aside earlier into the bushes. His figure vanished in a flurry of robes.
Hours after walking through a long dark tunnel Moxie exited it into a room. Dimly lit walls green with moss merged into a dome up above. The surroundings provided an enchanting effect as the green hue from the light reflected off the wall.
A large mirror reflected Moxie's haggard appearance. Dilapidated body, Face sunken; parched split lips, covered with caked blood but eyes blazing with determination.
The ornate frame of the mirror curled and twisted in soft motions as if a frozen whirlpool. Noticing the empty room Moxie thought,
This is the last test. The mirror is they key, I can feel it drawing me closer. It's definitely a great treasure.
Moxie examined the mirror, running his fingers over the polished frame. The smooth surface felt foreign to his fingertips, it was nothing like he had felt before.
It had no give to it but it felt as if his fingers were dipped in its cold insides. The only uneven fluctuation to its contours were a series of symbols etched lightly on its sides.
Yun Moxie did not know the script but as soon as he touched them a meaning flashed in his brain.
'Mirror of Reflection
Find thyself within these depths, through infinite lives and endless deaths.'
The words gave him an inkling of the test to come but before Moxie could think it through an undeniable force ripped his consciousness from its mortal vessel.
Deep within the recesses of this maze-like cavern a shimmer erupted from a blood red skull which sat enthroned on a bone altar.
This room was almost completely hemispherical with walls so sleek that light itself seemed to slip off them.
This was without a doubt the central chamber of the cavern. Ripples of cognizance emanated out as a cold cackle echoed through the ether.
"Hahahahahhahahahaha, Finally I can get out of this place. How long has it been?
I didn't think it would take this long to get someone that fulfills the requirements."

Luck Lockyer
Luck Lockyer was the type of man to smirk in the dark, the expression not for anyone but himself. One of perpetual amusement. The bright side of things were hard to find in the shade yet his amber eyes were always searching. The smirk was his default, he knew it, his friends knew it, his family knew it. It was his most natural state. But the death of everyone close to you can affect a downwards curve on the mouths of even the most stoic people. Without purpose, without anyone to do the job for, Luck Lockyer found himself inside an empty forgotten church. The perpetual smirk on his face had slipped to a thin line, his scar more noticeable now than ever before. His amber eyes, the windows to his soul, dull and lifeless. To anyone who knew him, it was the clothing that gave away his mental state, denim pants and a plain black t-shirt. If that wasn't enough, the tears running down his face certainly would, the echoing sobs of a broken man rang across the rundown church. It was on a whim, but Luck Lockyer prayed, he prayed for many things, for death, revenge, friends, but the one prayer dominating his thoughts, a second chance for his family. That was all he wanted. Simple. It was then, on the outskirts of a polluted city, in an abondoned lot, in a forgotten church that Luck Lockyer, the Devil of the Cards, the Bloodless Hand, the Amber Demon, the Broken, was answered by a being from another world and one from his. *found the picture online
