《The Survival of the Prince》Chapter 29

“Chaos is true freedom. The world is made up of chaos, and thermodynamics only proves it. We all should just embrace and accept it, no? Unless you’re one of those bastard lawfuls? You aren’t right?” – a chaotic philosopher
The ground starts to shake, white powder falls to the floor as a light dusting of snow, and Alex is forced to wake. Alex tries to reflexively open his eyes, only to come once again to the reality of his blindness, as he does every time he wakes.
‘That’s a lot of shaking, I wonder what’s going on out there, an earthquake or something?’
The ‘earthquake’ increases in intensity, lab equipment falls, the pile of books becomes more disorganized, and the lab approaches an even messier state, before all of a sudden stopping.
‘???’
Far from the scene, a certain flying man looks down at his watch, his eyes open in surprise, and he starts rushing in the opposite directions at a far faster speed than before.
“I’ve found you, it was a bit difficult getting by the security measures, but definitely worth it.” Says Ivona, soaked in sweat, while approaching Alex, when she reaches him though she suddenly goes stock still.
‘Was that Ivona? Is she here?’
This glimmer of hope causes Alex to struggle against the bonds he had almost forgotten.
“He did that to you… What a horrible man, but I was expecting something like this if I ever found you alive, it’s better than the alternative…”
Ivona then unclasps the restraints to expose blistering raw skin beneath.
“I’ll treat you later, but for now hang on. We need to get out of here.
Ivona then slings Alex’s limp frail body onto her back before walking to the door.
“Just hang on, everything is going to be okay…”

Ivona kicks the door that has already fallen to one hinge.
Alex coughs for a moment before speaking hoarsely.
“Ivona, thank you.”
Ivona goes stock still once again before shaking her head while mumbling to herself, “Later Ivona, now’s not the time” She then nods before jumping into the sky while chanting.
“Domain of wind.”
She then flies into the sky, making good distance.
For a moment, Alex experiences peace.
Before a certain gray-haired man crashes into Ivona before taking a dagger and stabbing her.
In the aftermath, Alex falls, crashing and tumbling through the sporadically forested ravine, till he rolls to a stop, a puddle of blood forming beneath him.
Then stone starts shifting, and a massive formation opens like an eyelid.
“And now, the second part of the contract will be fulfilled.”

Until You Do It Right
The world ended on December thirty-first of the year two thousand and twenty, precisely at the stroke of midnight. The human race began to be systematically exterminated by the spawn of the System. We were given a chance to defeat them, to take back our place at the top of the food chain. We failed. The first to perish were those who bravely rebelled. The soldiers. The defenders. One by one, they fell. In their final moments, they begged for aid. Nobody replied. The next to succumb were those who feebly cowered. The deniers. The leeches. Together, they fell. In their final moments, they cried out into the darkness. Countless voices replied in kind. The last to decline were those who shamelessly ran. The deserters. The cowardly. Alone, they fell. In their final moments, they whimpered quietly. There was nobody left to answer. The final human to die was a survivor. A runner. As he died, he begged for salvation. His prayers were answered. He was offered a chance to save himself, along with all of humanity, and he took it. This is his story. “I sat in the dark and thought: There’s no big apocalypse. Just an endless procession of little ones.”― Neil Gaiman, Signal to Noise. I am absolutely new to writing and will take any and all constructive criticism. Please give feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I will update the tags as they change, and I hope that you enjoy this little story I'm writing! Quick warning: Seamus is intentionally a flawed character, and this story is going to explore those flaws and perhaps even change a few of them. I do not agree with all of his actions, but it is what it is.
