I kinda black out for a moment there. When I come to I was back in my bed. I can only deny reality for so long as I can hear Dad stomping around in the living room. I try to see what caused this to happen. Looking around I see to bright blue boxes in the corner of my vision.

Huh?!? I awakened right now? Wow, I didn't even have to train up a skill to get access to the status screen. I'm one of the lucky bastards who get special powers with a strong emotion. Well Jason, first things first, it doesn't look like anyone will be in my room for a while, so I got some time on my hands.
"Wide Range Teleport" I whisper aloud.
[Wide Range Teleport] : can teleport 1 km at will. Bypass all non-power based wards and barriers. Must have place in sight or mind. Destination must be in open air or low-pressure water to activate, teleport to the closest available area if blocked.
"Hmm" It looks like I can work with this. HAHAHA, who am I kidding this is just fucking great! I always knew I was never Hero Material, but I never would have guessed I would be a natural born villain. I just knew I was never going to get a job, that would just be too boring. Getting back to reality I grab my old school backpack and empty it out. I stuff a change of clothes and look around my room for anything of use or value. I quickly pick up my laptop, (you never know how useful google can be) my life savings, ($23.78) my gaming console and controllers, (hopefully $150 at a pawn shop) and a bottle of water with a bag of beef jerky.

Well, as sad as it is, that is everything useful I can carry in my room, but before I leave I think I can get a little 'compensation' for all the years of chores I did for my parents. Only a little though; I still love the old fuckers after all. I try to teleport in my room to see if it makes any noise. It doesn't, so I take a risk and teleport into the walk-in pantry. While carefully listening I loot the pantry for any food I can eat without preparation. I get a couple of cans of ravioli and a box of snack cakes. I confirm that my siblings are in the living room and mom is busy in the kitchen, with the shower running in the master bathroom I now know where everyone in the house is. I take a couple more water bottles and teleport in the master bedroom and try to find what I'm looking for. I see Dad's clothes in front of the bathroom door, and a hunting knife on the table. I take the knife off the table and strap the sheath to my belt loop. I quietly make my way to the pile of clothes, wary of that old hero's ears, take his wallet out of his pants and find 34 dollars for the keeping.
Flipping the bird in the old man's direction one last time I teleport 1 km away next to a suburb street. Ignoring the startled cat I sit down on the side street to think of what I need to do to live my new life. Well I need to find a map, so I can find a way to get to villain controlled country, otherwise it would be a lot more complicated for me to fence my loot and raise my villain rank. The closest villain controlled area is the Sovereign Empire. Dramatic name I know, but all Villain run areas are like that. It's most of California, about half of Nevada and little of Arizona and Mexico. Well, the closest major city to me is Las Vegas, but that is still more than 2000 km away from this Oklahoma shit hole I find myself in.

With a place in mind I do what any self-respecting villain in my shoes would do; I visit my local library!

As a reader, I'm annoyed with heroes making it in the nick of time, so for the sake of fairness I used dice on a number of occasions, making do with the result. Sometimes it was anticlimactic, sometimes it was tragic and it led to the story you see before you.
