《Saer Servitude》Chapter 102

When Saer tried to get up he tasted a stronger wave of energy. It hurt his back like he was being whipped by hundred people at once. Aftermath of the pain was a terrible fall which Saer was compelled to block by his face. Saer spat blood and turned on his back. He saw a young man holding an iron club. The bloke raised it above his head with no good intentions. He rolled sideway to avoid the contact. Saer heard the metal clang on the wooden floor. The club’s top had gone through the floor. “Filthy low blood.” Maester Rudolph clenched his fist. Saer felt his rib cage pressing against his lungs. The pressure limited inflation of his lungs and made breathing most painful task in Ouskerus. “Braden.” Maester called. While being suffocated, Saer waited for the pain in silence. And when the wave hit him from the back, he screamed hard. “Rikilda.” Maester loosened his fist. Saer hadn’t recovered from the agony of the last blow when another one came straight at his chest. He got hit by a more painful wave, which pushed him down to Braden’s feet. You are not a Calajhan. Saer said to himself. Wernh’An’s eye was showing no interest in Braden. He would have said it loud if he was laying there for long. But Maester elevated Saer upright. His loose body floated in air with just his toes touching the floor. Weightlessness made Saer vulnerable to everything imaginable. Maester Rudolph spun him in Braden’s direction. Saer’s eyes pleaded to Braden for mercy, but it was Maester who decided what was to be done with the poser. “Your turn, my lord.” Rudolph said. An explosion happened near his face. Saer closed his eyes to take the suffering. The pain which came after it was similar to the one which Braden had put him through at first. But it was bearable, at least. Once again, he lay on ground. “Who sent you?” Rudolph said. Saer was too stunned to answer him. Maester took his silence as Saer’s stubbornness instead so he made him upright again. While getting lifted, Saer didn’t feel weightlessness like he had done before. His muscles and bones were keeping him vertical instead of Rudolph’s sorcery. Diminishing Strength. Saer found it a hard way without being taught. “You will make this spy answer, princess.” Maester faced him at Rikilda. Braden moved aside when Rikilda prepared herself for the attack. “Use light wave.” Rudolph said, “This will harm his internal organs.” Saer knew what Maester was trying to achieve, yet he fell in his trap. His heart leaped out of his chest just at the thought of the pain alone. Rikilda Calajhan had her arms stretched already and her fingertips were lit with orange light. Counter this magic. Think. Saer breathed several times. Be something else…. He imagined himself as a prism when she released energy from her fingertips. The light passed through him causing no harm and when it came out, then it fragmented into colours of a rainbow. Most of all, it bent. The light hit Braden and knocked him to unconsciousness.

Synergy
Dear Inspector, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from being a Player. Hey! Laugh all you want, but I had to try. With no rules down here, who's to say that I can't resign? Anyway, my reasons are simple: I'm neither a gamer nor a hero. You got the wrong person for the job. Sure, the pay is decent and I could pretty much live like a king if, you know, I wasn't so busy trying to survive. I have major concerns about the demonic dagger bound to my soul too. Come to think of it, I've never asked to be transported to this fantasy land either and would like you to return me home, thank you very much. I don't want supernatural powers, I don't want to complete quests after quests, and I don't want to be your test subject anymore. What? I'm not whining, you're whining. Stop making excuses and let me leave already. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you'll find a better replacement after I'm gone for good. Sincerely,Randel, the Mad Painter What to expect from Synergy: --> Some GameLit elements are presented subversively. If you want the protagonist to “play the game” properly, this might not be the story for you.--> No filler chapters; the story's structure is already plotted out. It's going to have six story arcs.--> Character development happens slowly, over many chapters. Don't expect a perfect protagonist right off the bat.--> Some romance, but it will never be the main focus.--> Humor and dark elements in equal measure, but not to the extent that I’d label this story as “Comedy” or “Grimdark”. ... and lots and lots of Author's Notes. See you on the other side of the portal!

Advent of the Mindfire Mage: A Challenger's Return Story
Updates MWF, 6PM EST! Not so long ago, a story was posted on Webnovel, one that fired my imagination unlike almost anything before or since. It was known as The Challenger's Return: Rebirth of the Rainbow Mage. However, 150 chapters in, the author NightWind, who I'd personally interacted with and begun to consider a true friend, vanished from the internet without a trace. And so, I have acted upon my fervent desire to pick up his torch, to refuse to let his world that stirred such passion in me die. Read below about my own take on The Challenger's Return. Was Lheticus summoned to the Tower by chance, or by choice? Either way, with the new power he wins, he won't hesitate to burn anyone who seeks to keep him from his true love to cinders, and with a unique ability of the highest potential, he may just succeed, but he's just as likely to burn himself down. And as it turns out, the latter case may be woven into his very destiny...can that destiny be changed? And if it is, what will be the repercussions for the Tower? (You may want to read a fair amount of the original Challenger's Return before starting this, as, particularly in the early chapters, many things that are laid out in it are glossed over in this story.)

The Girl Who Kept Running
He ran into her at street theater. She was a force of nature, not a casual first time hire. She brought the house down with her performance, literally pulled the audience to their feet in standing ovation. Her performance was too real, unnerving, deeply unsettling to him. He spent all his energy keeping up with her.At the end of the play, she snatched her earnings from the director's hands and ran away, leaving a trail of questions behind her, the most burning one in his mind was:Would he ever see her again?____________________This ongoing novel imagines a world that our younger generations inherit after a series of successive presidencies in the same vein as the current model. There is no need for erecting walls, as the biggest divide created by humanity - that of social class - takes care of a post modern segregation. The poor are literally marginalized into slum-like townships and tend to be of color. The names of these townships would be enough to tell you their story. The rich, well, remain happily oblivious in the big American cities. In this world find a mysterious girl whose identity must be hidden or she would be hunted down and a young street actor who falls for her intrigue. Discover how they survive, born into a society not prepared to give them a chance. For them, the dystopia came without an apocalypse.
