《Saer Servitude》Chapter 55

Saer saw Fierlo, naked, fighting soldiers with a sword. His windmilling sword was ready to slice everyone willing to raid around his range. Few guards had already got the taste of sword. Blood was spilling out from wherever the sharpness had blessed them.
The men wrapped in armor were scared of the man who had nothing to protect himself.
Corpse of a soldier whom Fierlo had killed rested untouched.
A soldier jumped at him only to get cut by Fierlo on his arm. He would have met its pointy end hadn't he rolled further. During his attempt to stab the same man, one soldier ran at him with wrath. Fierlo turned himself, missing the peak of sword coming like a lance.
Everyone there wasn’t about aggression and vigor.
Fierlo didn’t even realize when a dagger sunk inside his back. The dreadful sting made its way to his head from the shoulder which almost loosened his grasp on the sword.
He pulled the knife and chucked it at a random guard. The dagger didn’t get past the armor.
Why isn’t anyone attacking me? Fierlo questioned himself just to realize they were trying to trap him in a formation of guards. And it already resembled to a circle.
Guards were using their swords as lances while attempting to keep Fierlo under control. He instead swung his sword. It hit a sword coming towards him but didn’t help him much.
Panicked, Fierlo noticed Saer at the end of passage. He stared at him for a couple of seconds.
A soldier didn’t let the pause to go in vain. He charged at Fierlo from behind with his sword seeking Fierlo's legs. Fierlo heard the tramps and spun around to block the blow in time.
Metal echoed due to the collision. A big boot to the mischievous guard's chest didn’t make any noise. But the fall proceeding it did.

"Saer! Pick the sword and help me!" Fierlo screamed, blocking another sword.
Saer had got to hear his voice after a long time.
He had saved me in Tadeas' monster house. Saer couldn’t keep the fact out of his mind. But he was not in the same house anymore. The place where he was now had different rules and Saer needed to play by the rules.
"Saer!" Fierlo yelled again.
Saer touched the hilt of his sword but pulled it back immediately when some soldiers glanced at him. Meanwhile Saer put his sword through another soldier who dared to come close to him.
Watching their second man die made the guards break their formation. Now they did not want to capture him. They wanted his blood. Three of them hammered their swords towards Fierlo at once. Fierlo couldn’t block the so he stepped back but a sword sliced big chunk of his skin from his back.
Saer sprinted to the rescue of his friend without even realizing what he was doing. He squeezed his way inside the formation and blocked the swings by the sharpest sword in the group.
Fierlo stood with his back touching on Saer's back.
"Come now, you cunts." Fierlo growled while swiveling along with Saer.
Fierlo screamed and swung his sword to attack a guard. While doing so, he felt something hard hit on back of his head. The pain stunned him so much that he dropped his sword. And he fell along it soon.
He saw Saer standing tall with blood on his sword hilt. Perhaps Saer wasn’t expecting Fierlo to gaze at him so he didn’t look down for a while. But when he did, their eyes met. Saer couldn’t match eyes with him.
A guard caught both of his wrists and dragged him back to the darkness of his cell.

Find the missing VIP in an illegal game world. Kill the monsters. Return home for the paycheck. Decorated Marine commander, Damon Williams, never thought his latest mission would take place in a full-immersion world fighting monsters… but when a high-value VIP disappears after being stealthily transported to a banned MMORPG, he's their only hope. Damon must lead a group of rescuers into an unforgiving world infested with terrifying monsters and worse. Pain is real. Death is permanent. He and his crew must adapt quickly, trust each other, and fight to survive. And if all that's not bad enough, they'll also have to race against time to avoid the realm’s disintegration and mutation effects. Quantum Worlds features race and class designations, unique creatures, dungeon crawling, level progression and Easter eggs that reference video games and pop culture. This a dark fantasy, but it also has sprinklings of humor throughout. It is a multi-cast, multi-pov story. In many ways, it is a melding of one of my favorite novels, “The Stand”, with my favourite genre, LitRPG. I don’t espouse to be anywhere near Stephen King, but I would like to think that I have succeeded in many areas here (you’ll be the judge of that). So, this thriller-style story has a lot of build-up and lots of drama. When it hits the 100-page mark, it starts to take off with some intense action and fight scenes (although there are battles long before that). Nothing comes easy for this group of rescuers. And the dangers are very real. This saga is already over 100 chapters with more to come. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your reviews, comments, and feedback. Thanks. Chapters are uploaded every day at noon ET. Please do not repost this work anywhere without my written permission. Quantum Worlds is a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge.

In the civilized world of humans, 'monsters' have all but passed into legend. But when something goes bump in the night, when people begin to disappear, when a dark mystery begins to haunt even the most peaceful villages, there is only one organization to turn to: the Hunters. The Venatori. Having lived a life of discipline and service, former soldier Caiden Voros finds something even worse than the wars of humans: the monsters that hunt them. Horrors yet unknown even to him and his many scars await in the claws, talons, fangs, and mysterious powers of creatures so far beyond humans that he must dedicate himself entirely to the art of slaying them. Harboring a secret of his own and in a constant struggle to find answers while maintaining his sanity, however, Caiden begins to ask the age-old question... Who is truly worse, the monsters or the Men? Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends is an episodic collection of stories, each of which stand on its own, but they also build upon each other in a consecutive order, bridging a gap between a novel and short story collection. These stories follow monster hunter Caiden Voros and his partner Gwen Vergil as they embark on tales of mystery, horror, and adventure to track down monsters - the living dead, beast-men, shape-shifters, spirits, and many more - that would do harm to innocent lives and, by whatever means necessary, put a stop to their terrors. Their motives, however, are not always what they seem.
