《Magnum Opus》4.4

I had an exciting day, that’s for sure. It was nice of Madison and Alfred to invite me on their outing. But I’m definitely glad to get some time by myself. I have a lot I want to get done and not a lot of time. Before Edens admissions tests start, I don’t even know what there going to be testing. The only thing I can do is prepare as best as I can.
Taking a minute to think about how I want to go about preparing myself. It’s probably not efficient and wishful thinking that I could learn everything in the books, Mancin gave me. So why not work out the problem from the other end. I’ll pick out a few spell matrixes and use the books to make sure there are no problems with them.
Getting into a comfortable meditation position on my bed and taking a deep breath, I enter my mind palace. After doing this so many times, it’s not even a challenge anymore. Not even bothering to take in my splotchy mind palace. Heading straight for the upside-down pyramid in the center of my mind palace. I begin looking through the spell matrixes stored inside it. As my awareness flipped through the spell matrixes at my disposal. I thought about what I was going to aim for. I want a few spell matrixes that are flexible to cover a wide variety of situations.
The first spell matrix to catch my attention was called subtle-charm. But its description left me wanting something more. I can think of several situations where it would be handy. To be able to basically hypnotize a target. But it’s really only suitable for one target at a time. It can also be broken by a moderate amount of stress. Definitely not worth the effort right now. Continuing to look through my collection of spell matrixes.

I finally decided on several of them to use for Edens upcoming admissions test.
The first is called mass-illusion when cast it will cause the target to experience an illusion. It’s kind of like the subtle-charm, but it can be used to manipulate targets, which won me over. The second is force-pulse, which allows the caster to release a kinetic-wave from their body. What drew me to this spell matrix is not it’s physical application. But its flexibility in how it can be used for multiple targets or a single opponent.
The last is called sympathetic-dissonance. Instead of being an illusion-based spell matrix, that affects the mind. It physically attacks the senses constantly causing them to shift with one another. I didn’t only choose this spell matrix to add diversity to the spell matrixes at my disposal. But also because instead of being flexible, it’s only meant to be used against a crowd. Although what it lacks in flexibility, it makes up for with a stronger attack.
Exiting my mind palace, I felt the awareness of my body and the room around my return. Touching my spatial focus, I pulled out the books, Mancin gave me. Spreading the four books in a line in front of me. Pulling the junior’s almanac towards myself, reading each page. Trying to match each rune in the mass-illusion spell matrix, to one of the runes in the almanac.
After forty-minutes of flipping page after page. Rubbing my eyes as they burned from being dry. This is way more time-intensive than I thought it would be. I’m still a little under half-way done with checking the runes in first spell matrix.
After another hour of slowly searching through the juniors almanac. I finally finished checking the first spell matrix. Going over the runes i’d just finished finding, making sure to check for the position rune and the core rune.

What I found strange was that the position rune of mass-illusion. Matched the position rune from the levitate spell matrix. Deciding to take a break and try condensing the mass-illusion spell matrix. Before trying to research the runes for force-pulse Positioning myself in a more comfortable meditation position.
Feeling my awareness sink into the flows of mana in my body. Working quickly to get my bearings, I began condensing the position rune first. Watching it turn in my awareness as I began to fill it with mana. Giving off light as it began to vibrate and move through my mana flows. After several minutes of following the position rune, it finally came to a stop.
Remembering Mancin’s words, about this method of finding the correct position. For a spell matrix, being a crutch. Using my awareness, I tried to feel for some difference in the location the position rune lead me to, but I could feel anything in particular.
Promising myself, I’d keep trying to find the correct method to condensing a spell matrix. I began to get to work condensing the rest of runes. Even using an almost completely different spell matrix. I was still able to quickly finish condensing the rest of the runes with ease.
As I finished connecting the last rune to the spell matrix. I felt more than saw a rumble pass through the matrix. I could feel my heart drop, as I thought the whole matrix was going to fall apart. But the rumbling I felt pasted just as quickly as it came. Arcs of mana jumped from one rune to the next until the whole spell matrix glowed brightly. Watching as the Spell matrix for mass-illusion spun in my awareness.

I never thought I'd be killed by butterflies. But here I am... Edmon Valli was a smuggler, before a freak storm threw him off course and stranded him on a desert island smack in the middle of an uncharted monster zone. Trying his best to survive, or possibly even escape, he stumbles across the find of a lifetime: an unclaimed dungeon crystal. This is a dungeon-ish story, but without reincarnation or transmigration. I started it as a whim for NaNoWriMo so I may drop it any time after that... or I might not. My current plan is to write until I can reach some sort of conclusion and call it 'volume one'. I hope someone enjoys reading it for now! All comments, corrections, and criticism welcome.

8 164Taverns edge - A mercenary's guide to Ley Line traveling
The taverns edge is a fiction that centers around a pair of unusual friends. A mercenary that happens to be a princess of fae, but prefers to stay in a well-known établissement instead of staying in the Sidhe. Moira. Being half a dragon doesn't really help getting along with snobbish elitists at her mother's court. Like all sidhe she likes to strike a good deal... Which has led into many a disaster... Though she always tends to get by, especially when she gets home to the Tavern on the edge. The mentioned établissement is run by the formidable Barkeeper and jack of all trades Tora, who happens to have a very interesting past. Which involves more than one sinister secret... Now add to the mix a totally clueless elven girl - a mortal, not a fae- on the run. Lunara. She has unknowingly struck a deal with the devil - quite literally. Now unable to handle the consequences on her own she enters the tavern on the edge. An epicenter for magic and the only place where she might find help. She talks Moira into helping her out. A race against time begins as the deal's symbols appear on Lunara's skin. The journey leads to the dwarven empire, the sidhe and wherever the crossing leylines under the tavern may lead. This fiction belongs to the same universe as Ancient Blood. English is not my native language, so please don't be harsh. This story is an adaption of an idea, that we, a friend of mine and me, have developed over a few months while taking a break from learning. Some parts were written by Emberspark. Thank you for allowing me to work with your ideas and letting me publish this as a whole. Updates... I will try to frequently update both of my fictions... Well in case you are interested I post it on Scribble hub, too. I really don't steal from myself 😂
