Well I've figured out the problem I mise well just give it another shot,. Edens admissions test is right around the corner, and I'm sure being able to form spell matrixes, will look great. Getting back into my meditative pose, I began my breathing mantra. Falling into my body even quicker this time, I started to condense the runic images for the levitate spell matrix right away. Folding mana into each one slowly, until every one of them shined, fully. Connecting them together took barely a few seconds, the whole spell matrix glowingly rotated in my awareness. Everything was going great, I couldn't wait to use my first spell matrix, I thought with a smile.
I felt a tug on my awareness, drawing me towards the rightmost corner of the spell matrixes. Just in time to see one rune shatter, releasing white sparks that spluttered shortly after. Causing the whole matrix to destabilize, the mana inside the rest of the runes began to glow brighter. As they shifted drawing closer together in a tangled mess of misplaced runes and glowing lines. Their jostling causing screeches to ring out, like glass rubbing against glass. My heart dropped, as the whole thing shattered, releasing a white flare, that blotted out my vision.
Falling backward as I was shocked out of my meditation again, hitting my head on the wall this time. Rubbing the back of my sore head, I got back into a proper sitting position. What could be going wrong, I followed the instructions to the letter, and yet it still fell apart. But I'm going to get this, I have my talent and all the knowledge I need to form a proper spell matrix, I thought.
Watching the tenth spell matrix rotated in my awareness, I tried my best not to let the build-up of frustration. From the nine previous failed attempts overwhelm me and cloud my focus. I felt a rune in the third layer of the spell matrix shatter, not even bothering to wait as the rest of it fell apart. I took the spell matrix in my awareness and smothered it. Watching small white sparks shoot out and splutter, as the whole matrix disappeared. Just watching the streams of mana in my body, as they flowed and swirled.

Trying to reach some form of calm for myself. I thought about the positive things I have learned so far. The first, I think, is probably going to be the most helpful. By my third attempt at forming a spell matrix, I was able to stay in meditation even while disturbed. The fifth time I found out, I could even slow it down as I tried to stop it from falling apart? Not to mention the fact that by my seventh attempt, in a fit of anger, I smashed the spell matrix to pieces. It's nice not having to wait for the whole thing to fall apart. Letting out a sigh of defeat, I promised myself that once I got to ten, I'd stop.
Wearily Exiting my meditation, my eyes stinging from the stress of failure, I sprawled out on my bed. I felt like I had just shut my eyes when a loud banging woke me up.
Ugh, what... I spluttered out, Jerkily pulling myself from the bed and trudging to the door, opening it angrily. With bloodshot eyes and rats nest hair, scowling I said “What!..” looking at me, she bent over laughing. She said, "I'm sorry... I shouldn't be laughing, but you should see yourself, it's too much.” Taking a deep calming breath. I said, "No, I'm sorry Madison I shouldn't have yelled at you, I just had a rough night.”
Waving at me to stop. She said, "it's fine! No need to apologize, I'm not much for being woke up myself, so I get it. Plus the laugh was worth it, seriously you look deranged. Anyway, my parents wanted to know if you wanted to come over for breakfast and I volunteered to come to get you?" Trying to rub the sleep from eyes, when I loud grumble came from my stomach. Blushing from embarrassment, groggily. I said, "Sure, I could use something to eat anyway.” “Here let me help you look a little less well… tragic.” She said, tapping me on the arm with one of her rings.

As it sent a pinkish-red light cascading over my body, She said, “ There we go, now you don't look so haggard. When your a busy lady like myself, sometimes you just don't have time to enjoy a nice shower. So I had daddy whip me up a cleaning focus, with all the bells and whistles for my last birthday.” Sweeping me out of my room and down the twisting and turning halls of the free city. In the whirlwind fashion, that I've come to know is just Madison's way. We arrived at the Hayward’s rooms maybe fifteen minutes.
But it could have been faster. I felt like we were running at some points throughout or little jaunt. Following behind Madison as we entered through a light brown oak door. Blinking as my eyes tried to adjust to the sudden change in lighting. As I took in the breathtaking view of a bright garden, the sun shined from overhead. As a breeze ruffled my hair, I Watched a kaleidoscope of butterflies flutter by, dancing between swaying trees.

The Life Between Worlds - Prologue
"Kene comes first." Nephern and Sterthen, previously the first and second captains of the Sun Guard, were exiled. Banished to the edges of the empire that they used to call home. There, just outside of the city of Anghelen and on the edges of the Helefiran - the dark forest - they lived in relative peace, raising their daughter Kene. Nearly a decade has passed, and the "dark forest" hardly lived up to its name. For the two elite soldiers, the creatures that occasionally wandered out of it were barely a nuisance. Until now. Faced with a declaration of war from one of the Empire's oldest foes and the emergence of... something else... the two have to fight to hold onto the life that they built in exile. --- --- --- This story is continued here: The Life Between Worlds - VOL I
