Still smiling Daphnia said, "I like your attitude, you'll see all the different paths are capable of great things. I wish we could talk longer, but you should get some rest if you want to heal. Plus there are still some things we have to do for the guild, so I'll be taking this lug with me. But if you need anything, anything at all just pull a petal from the flower, and one of us will be here."
Left alone again, at least this time I have something to occupy my mind. Flipping the, what did they call it again, oh ya spacial focus. It basically looks like a bracelet cuff, three bands of different sized metal laid on top of one another. With the thickest being on the bottom, it has a weird hexagon shape on the top. At least from what Daphnia and Mancin said it should be a good quality item.
I know I'm dragging my feet but if this came from my mysterious guardian. Who in fact is just my past self, I'm sure I'm in for another wonderful surprise. Biting the arrow as great Gramps used to say, slipping the bracelet over my left hand. It let off a soft light as it shrunk to fit my wrist perfectly, although it pains me to say it, even if my past self made this, that it's still pretty cool. Just as the glow faded, my vision began to blur, and a very familiar feeling washed over me, as a voice started talking.
"If your getting this message it means not only have you made it to the Free city but also to the Merchant guild Sundry Chamber. It's the third-tier guild I chose to receive you after you were sent to Free city. They have deep roots there, are highly regarded as trustworthy and are known to house clients until they meet the

requirements for residency in Free city.”
"Which serves your needs perfectly. The first seal on your memory contains both the information I thought important about Free city. As well as other miscellaneous knowledge about the world, that wouldn't have matched your new/old age. Had the Jade Palace bothered to follow you after sending you to wherever they had sent you to die of old age."
"Hopefully the reincarnation gambit incantation worked as I intended and you are a young lad in the prime of his life ready to dive headfirst into the world of Magic. I hope you can unlock the second seal on your memory soon. It just requires you to be able to sense mana. It contains all my knowledge on the acolyte level, which will not only help you in reaching apprentice-level quickly it will also give you a sturdy foundation of knowledge to build your success no matter what path you take."
As my vision cleared, a slight discomfort settled behind my eyes, but I wasn't even that bothered. It felt great not to be so lost about where I was and what I should do next. But before I could enjoy my newly acquired knowledge, my vision started to blur, and I heard my past selves voice again.
"Congratulations Kyle for unlocking the second seal and gaining my knowledge of the acolyte level. There a lot there so it might take you some time to adjust and really make some of that knowledge more like instinct. To unlock the third seal on your memory, just use the mana you'll eventually draw into yourself and craft your first rune. Remember, you might have all the knowledge but don't be in a rush; it could lead to flaws."
My sight returned, but the slight discomfort I felt before had transformed into a searing pain that covered my whole head — trying my best to breathe, as I tried to find a comfortable position, that didn't make my head feel like it was exploding. Failing to find that, I laid down as the storm of pain arched across my nerves.

As the minutes ticked by, I felt the pain lessen, from all-encompassing to more of an ice pick shoved between the eyes. Which by this point I even find it manageable, debating on the merits of getting up and pulling one of those petals. Choices, I'd hate to ask for help, when It's not even that serious.
I've already taken up enough of Daphnia's and Mancin's time. Deciding instead to use some of my new knowledge or should I say required knowledge. I try to push the pain out of my mind, using a deep breathing-mantra meant for meditation.
Coming to groggily, rubbing my eyes, I don't know when I passed out, but I felt a hundred times better now that's for sure. Pulling myself sideways into a sitting position, I go over what could have gone wrong and come to the conclusion that what my past self said was correct. Maybe more so in some areas than others, the seals on my memory aren't seals per say. A better way to put it would be they are seals but there also vessels. Holding my past selves knowledge within the voidial treetus.

Adventurer Book II - Dawn of an Empire Short story prequel- The Lurking Lair: An Adventuer Series Short Story Summary for the LitRPG savvy reader: Looking for a LitRPG that is more tabletop traditional role playing game and less MMORPG? This is probably your cup of tea. Long term progression with a heavy slice of life element. Strong mix and inclusion of ancient Greek life, values, and myths. Hence, the world can be a bit more harsh and brutish than modern sensibilities. The system is tangible and knowable beyond the MC's insights. The MC is more of an everyman than someone specifically chosen for the experience. Author's Note: This is my debut novel. Up until this point, the only thing I have written of comparable length has been non-fiction and related to history. I am immensely grateful to all the folks who have given me feedback and helped me improve my writing.
