《Rise of the Human Emperor》Chapter 21 - Covering Sun

All over Ottawa, the members of the Covering Sun Faction moved. One of the currently most powerful factions was going towards a single place. Any ordinary monster under Peak 0-Star couldn't stop them from stealthily going towards Lightwood Townhouse.
In the meanwhile, Haize started getting the hang of healing himself and after not much time passed, he was new. Only the deep scars left on his body remained, but it surprisingly didn't affect his skin. Returning to the underground basement, he took a deep breath before sorting out the abilities of these survivors.
'Two wood-based, one plant-based. Four strength-based, five speed-based, five defense-based. Only one attack element-based, I killed the other element-based one.' Haize thought while scratching the back of his head helplessly. Anyway, there was no use regretting.
From what he noticed, the wood and plant-based abilities are more support-related, at least the ones he has seen. So an element useful for attacking was supposedly rare, meaning that physical abilities are more common. Out of 16 survivors that he found, only two had attack-type elements.
'Darkness element, eh?' Haize thought after remembering the survivor who made an actual sphere of darkness appear above his hand. It contained a corrosive effect like acid and had many other uses. It was perfect for an assassin in his opinion.
Suddenly, Haize's eyes captured a strange thing. In the bottom left of the wall beside him, a very small compartment appeared. It was something that radiated mana, and Haize was certain that this was not here before.
Of course, this didn't mean it appeared after the apocalypse. Haize narrowed his eyes, 'Maybe only those with Mana can see this? Or is it more special, only those related to this Mana can see it?'
The Mana had a fiery aura as if it could destroy and save everything. It emanated a Saint-like aura, very similar to Haize's own Mana when it is imbued with his Infinite Sun Flames. Without hesitation, he opened the compartment.
There was a letter on it, and Haize's mind shook after seeing the handwriting. It was one he didn't see for nearly a decade, the handwriting of his father. Just as Haize opened the letter, a light entered his forehead, merging on the sun-like mark on his forehead.

A male voice filled with gentleness echoed on his mind, ''I can only guess that you've awakened your powers, eh? When you see this, I'll probably be very far away from Earth, even after erasing my traces... They actually chose to interfere. My son, I can't say much but you'll have to shoulder this responsibility.''
''Remember to take care of Ly, our Sol family will always remain in this world as long as you and he are alive. Father and mother will be waiting for you. With love, Sol Zirve.'' As that voice echoed, the sound of an explosion shook his mind as the letter slowly turned to ashes. The whole process was very magical in Haize's eyes, but he was not one to get easily surprised.
'They...? I guess I'll have to discover it by myself.'
Only, he looked up and despite the sky being separated by the ground above him, Haize seemed to be able to see it. The black-haired man sighed lightly before whispering, ''Sometimes I miss you... Father, mother. Don't worry, I'll take care of Ly so rest assured.''
Haize's intuition was saying to him that his parents are still alive, and the golden-eyed man fully believed it. The traces of the fiery aura dissipated as a whole, and many unfamiliar auras were on the entrance of Lightwood Townhouse, so he went there.
''Ly, the members of our Faction have come. Ziam is also here, want to go welcome them?'' Haize asked while facing Lyse, John, and Edward. The black-haired youngster nodded excitedly, and the cheerful duo followed him. Haize was slightly speechless, where one went, the rest also went?
In the entrance of Lightwood Townhouse, around thirty humans with a variety of body-types and genders appeared. Around seventy percent of them were male, while around thirty percent were female. Some were sturdy and tall, while others were thin and short.
Seeing Haize approaching with the trio of friends behind him, the around thirty humans felt excited. Some of them had never seen Haize before, despite pledging their complete loyalty to him. The males couldn't help but feel admiration after seeing that the man who holds their complete loyalty looks so good, while the females were in a daze for a few seconds.

However, all of them half-kneeled without hesitation, ''Your Majesty!''
''...'' Haize was speechless after hearing their shout, and looked at Ziam. The man in question just avoided his gaze slightly, as if to say there is nothing to do with him. A helpless expression took place as Haize asked them to stand up, ''You can all stand up. There is no need to call me Your Majesty or anything. The title I have was given to me by others, I don't want it.''
''Just call me Boss or something like that, and we're fine. Also no kneeling.'' Haize said in sequence, and his voice carried firmness. Ziam held back his laughter because he remembers that this was the same sentence he had heard many times in the past.
''Yes, Boss!'' The group replied obediently, before calling out to Lyse, ''Nice to meet you, Your Highness!''
''...'' Lyse, who was also holding back his laughter after seeing Haize's helpless expression, froze up. He felt slightly bashful after being called Your Highness so respectfully. Scratching the back of his head embarrassedly, Lyse couldn't help but say, ''Um... Just call me Young Boss or something like that...''
'The spirit of Xianxia burns deeply within you, eh?' Edward and John looked at each other after seeing Lyse's actions. That was one of Lyse's favorite themes when he wanted to read novels, and so his words and actions were unconsciously similar.
Looking at Lyse, the members of Haize's faction was also slightly awkward, but they complied. Haize ignored their reactions before starting a speech he had already prepared, ''You all are the only ones who remained, who kept their loyalty. Out of countless that pledged their loyalty, only the thirty of you are truly loyal.''
''I don't really like our faction name, but this is the most important thing left by my deceased parents. Our slogan is simple, wherever there is light, there is also darkness, so we will cover it all with our light. Even if it's the sun, we will cover it.'' Haize said as his aura flooded out, giving a Saint-like and Demon-like impression at the same time.
Haize's lip curled up slightly, strong confidence oozed out of him, ''The monsters have invaded, but our true enemies now that society has collapsed isn't them, but humans themselves. Our first step will be simple, get stronger. After we get stronger, our second step is simple.''
''We will cover everything. Opposing factions? They will submit if they don't want to die. Monsters? They will all be killed or captured. This is a bold statement, but we will have the power to hold it!'' Haize said with a wide smile while spreading his arms to the side, one pointing to the right and the other pointing to the left.
Then, the black-haired man's expression returned to his usual calm and composed self, ''No one will be allowed to slack off. All should start training immediately, there are three people on my side that can make us a stable source of food, so for now, you should only worry about getting stronger. As long as you're within Lightwood Townhouse, no monster above 2-Star can invade!''
The members of his Faction felt a rare wave of excitement after hearing his speech because it was a bit motivational. Just as they entered after getting Haize's permission, a blue-colored screen floated in front of them.
You have entered a Safe Zone. No monster above 2-Star can attack you, nor can you attack allied beings inside the Safe Zone.

It swings between action, drama, and sometimes some darker comedy. Warning: A whole lot of profanity, alcohol, drugs, implied violence, actual violence and mega-violence—the kind that involves knives sliding into eye sockets and brains spilling onto floors—the usual stuff, scenes of intimacy, mercenaries, pirates, lots of moral ambiguity, including a wizard that likes to make tea with the heat sucked from his victim's bodies and a heap of world-ending monsters ready to eat people. _______________ Expectations: Updates every Monday and Thursday. Chapters will be between 2,000 and 5,000 words. I'm Irish and write in "Irish English" which is to say that I don't use much of the letter "z"
8 104Gamer
This story is abandoned and has not been authorized for distribution on any sites but RoyalRoad. Given the Gamer ability after shattering a crystal inside a game, Jon's world is upturned as he is thrown into a life he considered fantasy. Making new enemies and encountering a god, he cannot escape the quest which is forced on him. Different worlds and different situations, can he come out on top? He's neither perfect nor a saint, he is Jon. Welcome to Gamer. This has been dropped, I didn't like the way I forced a few plotpoints and I lost my notes on the story itself. Read below if you want to be spoilered. As far as I recall, he would change race into a higher human after using a spell to overload his mana repeatably until his body forcibly adapts, he would train up his rift usage spell with some better targets than God's Realm because he keeps hitting his stats limit until the cost lowers enough that he can actually grind it. His world is being invaded by multiple worlds, so the god had many backup plans where a lot of people went into their own fantasy settings and came back to defend Earth. Jon never is the strongest one out there, he has to keep grinding and grinding before he gets stronger than the other heroes, and at that point the invasion is nearing the final stretch. Jon's two biggest advantages is that he can keep grinding without hitting a cap he can't evolve, and that even when he is eventually killed. He would have respawned in the nearest 'Safe Zone' after dropping a level and everything he did to gain that level. I also had a bunch of ideas for mini-arcs where he would play in multiple worlds in multiple situations, not that great of an idea in retrospect.
