《Rise of the Human Emperor》Chapter 18 - Cleaning the Monsters [4]

''Brother, are you training to become a Swordsman? Like, now that there are so many magical things, is there a Sword Intent or something similar? Just like shown in these novels I've read?'' Lyse, like the good weeb he is, asked curiously.
John and Edward's attention were also picked up and as qualified weebs, they also wanted to know if that was just a legend or an actual fact. Hearing their question, Haize just smiled mysteriously, and Lyse felt quite upset, ''Boo! You're too boring, brother!''
After finishing his sword practice as a few hours passed, Haize sat on the ground to rest a bit. Looking over Edward, he asked directly, ''Can you show us your ability?''
''Yup!'' Edward replied while giving a thumbs up. John and Lyse rolled their eyes, feeling the confidence of their friend. Maybe their nerd-like friend wasn't much confidence in the face of some things, but when it came to his ability, he certainly was.
From Edward's fingertips, silver and golden lightning sparks mixed, forming a golden-silverish lightning show. A faint thunder-like sound reverberated through the room, as the lightning took the shape of an Eagle and flew around its owner, letting out cheerful sounds.
''Wow, you would be a good children entertainer, wouldn't you?'' Lyse said while laughing, not even trying to hide it. John was the same, laughing loudly. Edward shot him a look that said 'do better if you can' before rolling his eyes.
His tense back also relaxed, it was rare for him to even be able to rest in the past week. Edward unconsciously glanced at Haize, knowing this was only possible because of Haize's command.
Standing up after around thirty minutes passed, Haize stretched his body while feeling new. Looking towards Edward, the black-haired man asked, ''Hm... Why did you choose to help this group of survivors? They're useless.''
John and Lyse stared at Edward while feeling curious as well. The latter scratched the back of his head embarrassedly, ''Well, I couldn't let them die. I got the power to help, so why not?''
He felt a bit awkward after seeing that Haize was staring at him silently, as if the black-haired man was seeing right through his heart. However, Edward's heart was at ease.

Patting Edward's shoulder, Haize said, ''You're too kind, hm.''
The day passed as the trio of friends trained, and talked about what happened in the past week endlessly.
Haize, who was meditating, suddenly opened his eyes. Then, he stood up and looked at a still-working clock while thinking, 'It's time to start, hm? I wonder what will be the special rewards for cleaning this area, that Spatial Storage and Swordsman title were both good.'
Spatial Storage - This is the endless storage, anything can be stored here. Food or bodies will be preserved indefinitely, not decaying.
'I guess I'll be the one to guard the food in the future, hm?' Haize thought.
Not much time passed before the trio also opened its eyes and stood up. Looking at them, Haize felt slightly satisfied as he said, ''Remember that we need to leave a few barely alive for them. Even if weak, it's better if they can at least help us.''
''Aight!'' The trio said before each of them went in a separate direction, scouting for the commander-level Horned Lizard. Haize closed his eyes lightly before a wave of Mana started spreading towards the Horned Lizards' area. Then, that wave condensed into a horizontal line, searching everywhere.
'Unfortunately, no survivors found.' Haize thought while feeling slightly disappointed, but it was normal. When the apocalypse started, most of the people living in Lightwood Townhouse were out. Even the living ones were all killed and devoured.
Shortly after, his eyes opened. The sun-like mark on his forehead shone with fiery brilliance and the two horizontal lines on the side of each of his eyes seemed to glow slightly. Golden and black rays of light flew around Haize, as he disappeared from place, ''I've found you, commander.''
The commander-level Horned Lizard is way smarter than the ordinary Horned Lizards, and even more when compared to the commander-level White-furred Bear. It noticed not long ago that the White-furred Bears had all been killed, and so it started to search for the culprit.
It had delved deep into the area that once belonged to the White-furred Bears, all before a black-haired human appeared fifty meters away from it. It growled threateningly, feeling a dangerous aura on that human's body.

Haize looked at the 4.5 meters long Horned Lizard in front of him, as it growled as if to threaten him. He let out a chuckle, as golden rays of light converged on his body before a fiery golden-colored aura wrapped Haize's body completely. He was like the incarnation of the Sun God.
The Horned Lizard growled, brown-colored scales covered its whole body. Its eyes were red like blood, and its pupils were slit. It also has sharp claws that could tear through steel as if it is butter, and it stood on all fours.
''Come!'' Haize said while taking a fighting stance as white-colored lights surrounded the commander-level Horned Lizard before it simply disappeared. After Haize's mind reacted to its sudden disappearance, he felt an impact on his right arm, sending him crashing into an already crashed mansion.
A small claw-like wound was left on his arm, and there was a bit of blood leaking out of his mouth. Haize couldn't help but smirk, before wiping the blood on the side of his mouth. That Horned Lizard was an opponent tougher than the White-furred Bear, for sure.
''Light Manipulation, hm? What an interesting ability!'' Haize said before closing his eyes. He felt the wind that was flowing through him, and a wave of Mana covered the surroundings. It couldn't sense the Horned Lizard's presence, but the air shifted slightly as it ran around.
Without hesitation, Haize turned around before punching out. A claw and a fist connected, as a small shockwave spread to the surroundings. Small cracks surrounded the area of their impact up to a diameter of five meters.
But Haize was clearly in the advantage, as his hands were left with mere scratches while the Horned Lizard's paw was deformed. It wailed in pain as a world of darkness surrounded Haize, as if he was deprived of light. Suddenly, he was hit many times.
'It can affect my perception of time?' Haize thought while feeling everything around him was illusory, but also real. Wounds started accumulating on his body, and this was the first time he fought against such an opponent. Instead of being discouraged, a disturbingly vicious smile appeared on his face.
He left the Katana on his Spatial Storage, and Haize truly felt this was a good choice as the Katana would probably hinder him in this kind of fight. It was too easy to win against the White-furred Bear, mainly because his Flames restrained the Bear's ability as a whole.
Haize's defense was lowered by his own will, and a sharp claw penetrated his skin. An excruciating pain was transmitted to his brain as a vein was pierced, but Haize's face still had that disturbingly vicious smile. The Horned Lizard faintly felt the aura of death enveloping it, before seeing that Haize grabbed its paw.
The sound of flesh being ripped apart was heard, as Haize removed its entire ''arm'' from its body with brute force. The world of darkness suddenly disappeared, as golden flames and black wind surrounded Haize.
His injuries were worse than he thought, but it didn't truly affect him due to his extremely high willpower. Through years of training, Haize had suffered more than any ordinary person, ranging from light to heavy torture to increase his pain resistance. It was the price he had to pay in order to be able to become the Underworld Emperor.
The price to protect his brother from this world's ugliest side.
A snake whose body was made of golden-colored Flames as a whole suddenly appeared beside Haize, its size being two meters long. It let out a roar, and many black-colored, crescent-shaped Wind blades appeared around.
''Infinite Sun Snake - Abyssal Wind Blades.'' Haize said, and the Horned Lizard suddenly knew no more. A burst of god-like Flames and demon-like Wind enveloped its body, tearing and burning it to nothingness.
Commander-level 1-Star Horned Lizard was killed. Requirements for special rewards were completed, rewards being issued. The world's first Safe Zone was made.

"what have you been doing for the past 10 years?" and "why is your level so high?" -------- ...Have you ever read a story where the main guy who got isekai'd returns to Earth. Say, for example, FFF-class trashhero or the necromancer of Seoul station? Say, what if the authorities actually became aware what kind of monster had returned to Earth? What if they actually tried to use them for something? Kreig's been in the other world for 130 years, has experienced three great wars, and he isn't okay. Mentally speaking, that is. He's been imprisoned, gained and lost comrades, been betrayed... The whole lot. By now, all he wants is to put it all behind him, something the world doesn't seem to want to let him.
