《Redemption of the Lost Noble》Chapter 2: Draven Night

Draven considered his current position. Through some inexplicable events, Jensen had entered the world of his favorite book. As he stared at the ceiling, he couldn’t help but smile. His boring and pointless life, that he had tried to end on multiple occasions due to a complete lack of purpose, had been given a second chance. Not only that, but he was dropped in such a turbulent and incredible world of fantasy that it would be impossible to live without a purpose any longer. He had read the entirety of the story dozens of times, knowing almost every possible trivial fact known to man about this world.

Draven Night was an insignificant, pointless, and pathetic man. His family consisted of three older siblings and two younger ones. The first son- Jarett- was strong and just, but lacking intellect. He would hope to succeed the family after their father passes due to a long withstanding illness. However, it was the second son, Glow, who would take that spot. Devious, malicious, and manipulative, he would lead the historic-yet-failing family to eventually align with the Lich King Tarn- the main antagonist of the world.

The third child, the older daughter Jade, was beautiful and intelligent. She is outgoing and talented, and often seen as the gem of the family. Her talent with the sword led their father and other elders to believe that she could bring her family back to affluence- but she was ultimately poisoned by her older brother Glow.

The fourth son, Draven, was average in all skills except drinking and abusing servants. It should be noted that he had some talent with a sword at an early age, but stopped practicing years ago once he discovered his love for alcohol and women.

The fifth son, Sting, was barely mentioned in the story. It was stated that he was reserved in nature and obediently listened to his older siblings. The youngest child, Lara, was the loudest of the bunch. She had less talent than Jade, but was particularly favored by her father and Jarett. She had talent in Ice Sorcery, which led the elders to invest a great amount of money in her training. The reason for this is because the Night Family was a branch of the famous Vampyre family- the oldest clan of vampires in the North.

For centuries, the Night family head- the current head’s father and Draven’s grandfather- was the right hand of the Vampyre head. However, due to old age, Draven’s grandfather had retired from all affairs and lived in the family mansion. The current head of the Night family- Blaire- was no match for the other branch heads in battle prowess. Thus, the Night family had fallen to the bottom of the Vampyre esteem list. Ice Sorcery is one of the three main talents of those with Vampire blood and is highly valued among battle skills.

Draven wiped the smile off of his face. What day was it? Where in the timeline was he currently? He ran- or stumbled, rather, due to the alcohol- over to the calendar.

“The fifth of Martius… exactly 3 years before the revival of the Lich King and the start of the Great War for Sangria.” This was not much time to work with. By this calculation, his father would be dead within a year- and Glow would lead the family to ruin.

‘Where to start… I must meet Blaire for dinner by tonight. I have time.’

“Cornella!” Draven yelled out. An audible squeal from a terrified maid followed before she rushed into the room.

“Y-Yes, Lord Draven!”

“I am leaving for a few hours. You will say nothing, and if someone asks to see me, tell them I am asleep in my room and do not wish to be disturbed.”

“B-But Lord Draven! Lord Blaire said to not lea-“

“This is a direct order. Shall I beat you for you to understand?”

“N-No, My Lord. I shall do as you ask!”

Draven left the room. He felt somewhat bad threatening to beat her, but it was simply a bluff to get her to obey. The Draven of the past had done it plenty of times, so even if she feared Blaire, she had developed a greater fear for Draven. He left the grounds and ran into the forest nearby. The guards seeing Draven was of no importance, since he knew that his father had not bothered telling the guards that Draven was not to leave his room. After trekking through the forest for over an hour, he had arrived at his destination. A grave with no writing on the small headstone sat in front of a cherry blossom tree. The tree stood out from the otherwise gloomy atmosphere. Draven wasted no time before digging up the grave. He eventually found the coffin that he had been looking for. A glowing seal covered the quartz coffin. Draven used his pocket knife to cut his hand and let the blood drip on the seal.
