In the seats for spectators…

“Hmm”

“What is it my lady?”

“Nothing much. Its just that the person who is screaming and running around like mad is actually saying the truth.”

“You mean-”

“Yes, he is not lying about the poison. Even I cannot see this supposed poison, but I can see that he is not lying.”

“Which means that there is something that even my lady cannot see?”

“Yes, and that boy can see it. Tell me, who is he?”

“Jon, my lady.”

“Jon you say? Find out about his background.”

“Of course my lady” said the white-haired man in a crisp butler’s uniform, as he turned around and walked away.

In another section of seats…

“So… Has he been poisoned or not?”

“I’m sorry baron. I threw a lot of hidden weapons at him, but he must have had some sort of barrier around him. All of them were deflected away from him!”

“And then there was that spell of his. Hey Sasoom, how strong is he as a mage?”

“Hmm… That water elemental spell he used had enough mana for a level 2 spell.”

“So he is a level 2 spell.”

“No. that is where the problems begin. That spell was a level 2 spell, however there currently does not exist a similar spell to that in human knowledge. So either he stole someone’s original spells, or he is an original mage.”

“And what does that mean?”

“It means that he could grow as powerful as other original mages, maybe even reaching level 8!”

“You mean the epitome of human limits?”

“Yes. But that is not where the problems stop. He was also able to either cure or remove the poison. Either of which is bad, because he might already know about the poison, or will eventually research it and figure it out.”

“So he might already, or will soon know about my family’s greatest research endeavours in its history?!!”

“I’m afraid so, baron.”

“Hmm, Sasake, take this 200 gold, and give it to them to manage this situation.”

“Of course, baron.” Said Sasake, the baron’s butler.

In the king’s balcony…

“Hmm, you handled this rather well, Erigor.”

“Haha. Would you still say that if the boy had died?”

“Hmmm… No.” replied the female figure standing guard over Jon and company in the shadows.

These were the undercurrents in the arena and the kingdom, people moving in the shadws out of interest, fear or worry for Jon and company. All while they trained for the rest of the day in their rooms and planned for the group battles.
