《The Demon Lord becomes the hero? DROPPED》Chapter 4: Luck OP?... or not

Author note: Hope you like my fourth chapter. It took me a while to get the table of stats to look decent. I will probably place the same stat table at the bottom of every page just so you can know how much stronger Drac gets per chapter. Thanks for reading.
_________
"Stats..." (Drac)
A box appears in the middle of my vision.

"By the way, most humans start off with 10 in each stat." (Arthur)
Wow, I knew I was only slightly stronger than a normal human but by 1 strength wow. Also, why is my luck so high? I thought it would be low as I was unlucky enough to be summoned to another world, away from the safety as the world already conquered by my parents. I kind of understand wisdom though. I am planning to conquer this world so I have to be wise.
"So, what are you stats?" (Arthur)
"Pretty much average but I do have a couple of interesting skills" (Drac)
"Good, I would have chucked you out of here if you didn't. Still, average stats are a bit disappointing. Anyway, choose your weapon." (Arthur)
Inside the barracks on one wall, practice weapons are mounted. There are all kind of weapons, from pole arms to daggers. All are wooden. Considering the pros and cons of some, I choose a scimitar. Yes, I know, swords would be easier but I want to be able to parry more easily. A curved edge should allow me to do that more easily. A box appears in the corner of my vision.

Class chosen. Foreign warrior: A warrior using a weapon of unknown origins. It does not seem to originate from any known area of Golrend
"Oh, you chose that thing." (Arthur)
Arthur looked slightly disgusted at me. I guess a long sword or a pike would have been choices that he would have preferred me to pick, both typical of a soldier.
"Do you want to use a shield as well?" (judgmental Arthur)
"Might as well." (Drac)
I walk over to another wall that is lined with many different types of shields. The shields are metal (my guess steel) because they are judged not as dangerous as their weapon counterparts. There is a range from great shields to rather small shields. I choose a small kite shield that doesn't have to be held. It straps to my arm fairly well. Arthur chucks me some leather armor. Some braces, a breastplate and shin guards. I wear them.
"Let's spar to find out if you have any prior experience fighting." (Arthur)
Arthur walks past me and out of the small barrack with a creepy smile on his face. Something tells me he will enjoy beating me down. It will probably be a one way beat down. A soldier Captain fighting the equivalent of a civilian.
I follow Arthur out of the barrack and out onto the outdoor training area. Giving my scimitar to diagonal crossing swipes, I get ready for the imminent pummeling. My enemy, Arthur is wearing decent armor. It's purple so my guess is it is this world's equivalent of mythril. He his holding a wooden long sword in his right hand which he looks fairly competent in using. In his left is a metal great shield which he looks like he can move as easily as I can move my small kite. I concentrate, more than I have ever concentrated in my entire life, only seeing the very start of his actions.

I wake up on the ground of the training area, covered in cold water, with Arthur standing above me holding a bucket. Damn bastard is stronger than I had originally thought. The fight was over so quickly. Arthur suddenly dashed forward, lunging his sword faster than anyone I had ever seen. I had jumped out of the way, hitting my head on the ground and knocking myself out.
Sure, I did knock myself out but if the fight continued I can say without a doubt that it would have ended the same way. With me having lost.
"You... actually managed to dodge my attack." (Arthur)
Was it really that shocking? Undoubtedly, the only reason I managed to dodge was my ridiculously high luck stat.
"Guess you must be a little competent. Let's head out of the city to fight some actual monsters." (Arthur)
Great, I managed to dodge due to luck but because of that, I am being overestimated. Someone 1 strength stat stronger than a regular civilian will have to fight monsters that only adventurers and soldiers can defeat. While I was still on the floor, Arthur chucks at me the metal counterpart of the scimitar. Guess I will have to fight some monsters then.
We leave the training area and head through the city. It seems rather busy. I have never really seen it like this. Being early afternoon, there are many stalls around a people swarming them. A thought crosses my mind. It would be fun to everyone running and screaming as they are being slaughtered. A demonic smile appears on my face.
Confused...
"Never seen a market before?" (Arthur)
"Nope." (Drac)
I don't want to be suspicious so I quickly killed the conversation. Arthur probably noticed how I was looking at everyone.
We arrived at the city gate after about 30 minutes of walking and left through them. What greeted me was a large green field with a river and forest in the distance. Oh, and of course a small slime jumping on my face...

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
