《Raising a Mutant: A Young Superman (and friends) Hurt/Comfort Adoption Fic》Chapter 28: Car Ride

The last day of summer was the best day of Clark's life. Better than Christmas. Better than his birthday.
First, Dad didn't make him or Lex do any chores all day. Instead, they spent extra time getting dressed up and ready to go to the courthouse, and their farm hand did extra chores.
Mom and Dad were smiling more than Clark had ever seen them smile, at least as long as he could remember. Mom said they were this happy the day they adopted Clark, too. Also on the day they got married, but that was before Clark was born.
Then the judge at the courthouse had told them that Lex was going to be part of their family. Mom and Dad promised to always love him and take care of him. And the judge looked right at Clark and said that Lex was going to be his big brother forever!
After they took some family photos, Dad took everyone out to dinner, and they got ice cream. Clark wasn't usually allowed to get the big sundaes, but Mom said he could today, because it was a special occasion.
It was dark by the time they were driving back to the house.
Clark sat in the middle seat instead of the side one, so he could be closer to his brother. He whispered, "What's going to happen with your other dad?" He knew he wasn't supposed to talk to Lex about that, but he really wanted to know.
"I dunno. I might go visit him sometimes. He's still in jail."
"Why is he in jail?"
Lex looked away and didn't answer for a little while, then he whispered, "Because he hurt me."
Clark felt like his heart was breaking into pieces. How could someone hurt Lex? "Why?"

Lex's eyes got watery. "He didn't love me."
That made no sense. "That's stupid. Why didn't he love you?"
"Because I messed up a lot."
"So? He should still love you." No one should ever hurt Lex. He was the best big brother ever!
"Thanks, Clark." Lex sniffed and wiped his eyes.
"Are you scared of your other dad?"
"Yeah, sometimes."
Clark frowned. "Are you scared of my dad?"
"A little, I guess."
"My dad won't hurt you."
"I know he won't. But sometimes I forget."
Clark picked up Lex's arm and snuggled himself under it, wrapping his own arm around Lex's waist and resting his head on his chest. "No one is going to hurt you ever again. I'll protect you."
"I'll protect you, too."
"From the bad scientiss?"
"Yeah." Lex laid his cheek on Clark's head. "I love you, little brother."
"I love you, too."
Lex pulled him in a little tighter.
"You give the best hugs," Clark whispered, closing his eyes.
"So do you," Lex said, and that was the last thing Clark heard before he fell asleep.

Dungeon Core/Realm Heart
Dao Lord Brandr has cheated death many times over the millennia, enough to know that this time he should have died. There was just no surviving what had happened to him. Fortunately or unfortunately, he did. Well... that depends on what you call surviving really. His body is gone and so is pretty much all of his mighty cultivation base. To add to this, he has suffered severe damage to his soul and as if that wasn't bad enough he's lost, far away from any world he knows and maybe even his universe. Now, he's just learned from a being called a sprite that he's some sort of sentient mystic realm called a dungeon and that just for the crime of existing, there would be legions of enemies planning to pillage and destroy him. It's okay though. Apparently, he can make legions of his own. Seeing what he has to work with, Brandr decides that perhaps, all is not lost after all...
8 322The Helena Chronicles
Espers are really no different than humans; they look like any normal human and in general behave like any normal human. However, there are a few key differences. The max life expectancy of espers ranges from forty-five to fifty. They naturally have a knack for mathematics and are extremely intelligent in general, this is because their abilities rely on the subconscious and conscious calculations. They also have a mysterious energy source they call Focus that is generated naturally by all espers. The continent of Elestveeve is populated by three major factions, each a governing force. On the west of the continent, there is the Noble Houses that subscribe to the Deity Faith. The Houses ruling with the Deity Faith as council since the religion's founding four-hundred years previous. Controlling most of the northeast is WITCH, an organization ruled by powerful espers; claiming the mysterious Genesis as their capital, they are a whispered myth among much of the continent's less technically advanced residents. In the southeast you have Tech City, a towering monolith of a capital with four sky layers and metropolis' leveled deep underground; it is a city brimming with technical advancement and cyber integration. Each faction contends with one another for their evolutionary ideology, by devout religious worship to receive miraculous gifts, unique genetic lineage to obtain ESP, and technological integration to become something more than human. Helena, a young genius and esper, awakes in a dark room with only fuzzy memories and the company of seven other children. She must determine how she got there and how to get back to where she came from. Warning: Due to time constraints, I don't have the time to keep up on my three stories; therefore, Helena will need to go in a stasis chamber until I can find more time to write between work and life. I love my first girl so much! however, it seems she is the least popular among the fans (the poor girl T_T). This world is much bigger than my other two novels and I'm not giving up on it, but simply having to put her on ice.

8 102Impossible Devices
Twenty years after the start of the new millenium, the world was largely at peace. Crime was at an all-time low in most nations. No large scale conflicts between countries currently existed, and the people of Earth had even begun to see hope for the future. In the year 2020, all of that changed. The first occurrences of the interdimensional reality altering zones occurred. Named 'Dungeons' these supernatural and alien existences unleashed monsters and mayhem upon the world. Only after considerable loss of life and adaptation to the new world order did people begin to rally back. The discovery of a strange artificact item in one of the dungeons allowed humanity to develop powers far beyond their wildest imagination. This device worked on principles considered to be impossible. It was not the only one. Items of super-science and magic were discovered inside the dungeons of the world that could not possibly work according to the known laws of physics. Yet, they did. A special school was built to train young people so that they could specialize in dungeon exploration, in the defeat of monsters and the acquisition of the Impossible Devices.
