《Duality of a Soul》Prologue

A beautiful young woman stood with her infant daughter on a cliff overlooking the vast expanse of the Twilight Forest. Known for its natural wonders, mythical tales, vast abundance of resources and artifacts of ancient designs, the massive forest is situated on the outskirts of the Zan Empire.
In a blink of an eye, sixty years had passed and the now older woman traveled back to the same location once again accompanied this time by her granddaughter. They had spent a few days camping and awaiting for something at the same cliffside clearing deep within the forest, surrounded by mysterious rings of overarching crystallized formations that are out of place amidst the natural vines and colossal roots at the heart of the forest overgrowth.
As if to signal that the correct time had finally come, the noises of every living things in the forest turned completely silent as slow but eerie high pitch sounds could be heard escaping from the largest, six meters tall singular cyan gem in the center of the altar. Sounds of a soothing melody and the rumblings of nonexistence mechanical gears had seemingly activated the surrounding crystal rings to life, igniting light orbs that rivaled the brightness of the sun.
And just like that the vibrations and brightness faded away, revealing a naked boy of thirteen standing with his eyes slowly open as if waking up from a deep slumber. Looking at the young man, the older woman reminisced about seeing him for the first time when she was a little girl, here at the very same spot. Little did she know that the scrawny brat that annoyed her to no end from back then would eventually grow up to become the hero and love of her life.
"Good morning." said the older woman, eyes full of affection and adoration as she greeted him. The success of their plan will depend on how much he could remember...

“...Can you tell me who I am?", the young boy whispered as if it was more of a plea to himself than anything else. With a look of understanding and carefully masked fleeting of sadness that threatened to overwhelm her senses, the older woman instructed her granddaughter to quickly guide them away. The magical anomalies that had escaped from the ceremony had no doubt alerted their location. Everything had been lost to her beloved including his identity, but she was content enough to be in his presence once again in her last remaining days on this world.
Because nothing will stop her from fulfilling the promise that they made together during their wedding vows...
