《Pasted Gunner》#13-Completing quest

When were U.S soldiers conquering japanese islands, they were meeting a lot of underground tunnels and bunkers, full of japanese soldiers. Americans quickly learned, that going through by force isn't an option and explosives weren't the right thing too. So they used flamethrowers. Those who were closest to the entrance died horrible death. But even those who were far away died too. You ask why?
When you throw a burning substance into close quarter, it will consume the necessary thing for burning, oxygen.
Without oxygen, every living being will die. And that's what was happening right behind this wall.
I realized how tiring is running around.
[Hungry, wanna eat]
Yes, I was hungry and tired. The mental strain isn't something to be taken lightly.
So I decided to have a little snack.
I started to chunking some fruits, meat and even some goblin's stuff.
My little meal was interrupted by footsteps coming from above.
I panicked a bit, if one of them runs away, things are going to be very interesting.
What I like on myself is the ability to come with a good solution even in situations like this. I just used some dirt from my Inventory and made a small pile of clay, which was blocking half of the tunnel.
The steps were louder and louder, so I hid behind the pile.
I didn't have to wait for long. Three goblins passed me and started to study what the fuck is this wall doing here. I used their confused state and stabbed the last one to it's back. Then I grabbed it and threw it at its two companions. As both of them fell down, I picked a club of one of the goblins, jumped at the first one and hit a head of the second.
[Ok, I understand it, having a snack in the den full of goblins isn't the best idea
SO, now I have got rid of their civilants and spare units, just "army" remains]
I walked back to the hall, peeking outside. From this point, was I able to see a part of main palisade. This palisade was protecting the main gate of the whole village, while the rest was protected naturally, by the cliff.
There, just behind the "gate" was something like main square, where were goblins doing their daily basis. The were some constructions for processing leather, some crafting places etc., but mainly, it was a square. A place without any cover, the fucking problem.
On the square were about thirty goblins, mainly at the palisade, observing what was going inside. And there was also a chief. Chief had usually several high-status goblins by him.
They were walking here and there, talking with other goblins (if you could call it a language), when suddenly next goblin came in through the gate. He immediately walked to the chief and told him something. Chief chosen a dozen of goblins and they went to the gate.

Just when the were at the gate, I decided to take a part in tonight's festival. Just by the look, I knew I won't be able to throw grenade there so I pulled out the shield and ran towards them.
In the quiet night, goblins immediately spotted me, but were too confused to do something. The first one to react was unexpectedly the chief, he snorted something and the archers started to put their arrows in their strings.
When I was sure by distance I laid down and threw out some dirt from my Inventory, forming some kind of trench.
The archers were too slow to react, so I pulled the pin from grenade, looked behind me, if there aren't any obstacles
Man, I was so scared, holding grenade for first time is very uncomfortable. In your hands is something that could kill you if you do something bad.
The grenade landed a just before the group of goblins, bounced several meters further. Goblins just ignored it, because they were thinking it is just a rock or something.
*Booom*
Those who were standing just nearby were torn apart and their bodies flew at the others. I think it killed at least ten or more. Others were injured, concussed or terrified. In the end, single grenade neutralized at least 75% of their combat force. There were still seven goblins ready and the chieftain and his dogs were unscratched. I considered option of throwing another one, but I decided to keep them and used the crossbow.
I aimed at the one that was closest and shot. The bolt hit it and it died.
The next turn was theirs, as they saw me using range weapon, the picked their bows and started to shot at me.
It was obviously the worst idea they could get, because they could cover only behind the gate and I had my pile of clay.
I successfully killed next three goblins when chiefs group decided to take a part in this game. One of the older looking goblins raised its staff and suddenly, every goblin started to glow blue, especially the chief.
I shot the next one, but instead of piercing its body, the bolt just stopped several centimeters before the goblin.
The goblin flew half a meter back and landed on its ass, unharmed.
[Fuck]
While thinking how fucked up is this situation, the rest of the goblins were rushing at me. I didn't even have time to reload the crossbow. I pulled out the next grenade. I considered timing it, but this is very, very dangerous idea, so I left it. Instead of timing, I put the grenade next to me and equipped a molotov.

*Dong*
The burning substance sploshed all around, creating a wall of fire that blocked their advance, time for the grenade.
*Booom*
*Reeeee*
When the smoke cleared, I saw a goblin without both legs, skreeking around.
Others were concussed, lying on the ground and their barrier was almost nonexistent. Even the chief, which was almost half a meter taller than others and twice as muscular, suffered heavy blow.
I ran around the fire and started to kill the lying goblins one by one. The first was the mage or shaman, probably the biggest threat. Then the chieftain.
I casually walked to its lying body, knife ready in my hand.
*Crash
[Ehh? Da fuck?, oh shit]
I had realized that I was lying on the ground, a hole was in my stomach and I was bleeding massively.
It even didn't hurt somehow.
[Ehhhh]
I was feeling lightheaded, my consciousness was fading away.
[FUCK]
I came back to the reality and controlled my Hp bar, which was in red numbers.
Suddenly the pain came too.
And then state of panic
[What should I do, what should I do, shit fuck, fuck]
[A Hp potion]
As I thought about it, it appeared in my hand. However, it was very hard to move my hand to my mouth. The blood was flowing out like a crazy.
[Just, just move!]
Just by a sheer willpower, I managed to somehow get that potion to my mouth.
*Gulp
The weird sensation encompassed my whole body. It was like a hot tub, but also like a jump into the swimming pool right after a sauna.
My mind was clearing bit by bit.
Hp was coming back and pain stopped.
I looked at that bastard goblin, he was just walking to me, its knife in its hand, ready to stab it into me once more.
My body got back enough strength to move my hand freely.
[What now, what now]
I wanted to shot him with the crossbow, but it wasn't loaded.
"You know, it's pretty normal for goblins to attack each other, but why are you here?" (Goblin)
[What the hell?!]
I actually understood everything it said.
[Oh, it should be normal to understand it, since I have the Universal language skill]
"I know what are you, a human, species which are living far away. They are living in something called towns and villages.
They are enemies of us, so why are you here!!!"
My presence, wasn't liked here. Quite understable, when I killed its whole tribe, he just hadn't knew it yet.
On the other hand, due to this conversation was my body already healed. Or to be precise, the wounds were healed, the remnants of the heavy shock were still there.
"You are still living, it must be the thing you drank, isn't it so?" (g)
I didn't response.
I somehow stood up, watching the goblin carefully.
"Humans are said to be dangerous for goblins, but not to goblin like me. And when I kill you, we'll conquer the human tribes and become the kings of this land"
[Oh, he really doesn't know, what happened to his dear tribe, does he?
Whatever, time to end this]
I pulled out a bow. It was just a crude bow, I took from some dead goblin, nevertheless to kill this asshole, it will be enough.
The arrow was already in the string, and even without proper aiming, I released it.
Chief didn't even have time react and the arrow hit him.
It fell on the ground, dead. Or so should it happen.
"Hah, ya think such crude thing could pierce my armor?"
Yes, this piece of shit really had some bone armor, but it shouldn't be able to withstand it.
[Don't tell me...]
This goblin still had a remnant of that magic intact.
*Uwhaaaahhh*
Roared the goblin that ran at me, ready to kill.
I barely pulled the shield out in the time.
*Dong*
My hand was dying under such strength, but the shield is ok.
I equipped myself with the best club I had, but my skill was really puny against it. Only thanks to the shield I am still alive.
The fight was longer and longer, and I was being pushed to the corner.
Suddenly, it kicked me right below solar and sent me flying.
While I was still on the ground, the chief was running towards me, preparing for the last hit. I desperately threw my club at him.
He just deflected it with his own club, but it gave me some time to stand up and run away, oh and I threw the shield too.
It really didn't expect a whole shield being threw at him and had to stop.
When he moved again, I was already twenty meters far.
"Hah, you ran, you don't stand a chance against me. And what do you think you can do with that weird stick in ya hands.
Come on you little coward"
While being taunted by a mere goblin, I prepared 'it'.
"Hah, you are such a dumb goblin, so let's see how are you managing this 'Mr. Bulletproof'. "
*Bang, bang*
For the whole fight, I totally forgot, that I actually have a gun.
And the goblin? He wasn't bulletproof.
