《He Who Slays by Stevenoth: Discontinued》Prologue

5:55 AM - Friday Morning

---------------------------------------------------------------

The sun slowly rises and peers through the window of a small apartment, much to the disdain of a young man in his early twenties. Laying awake in an awkward position, he groggily rubs his eyes and begins patting down his unkempt hair. He then realizes it's finally 6:00 AM as the sound of the alarm began to resound in the room, which was most unwelcome, mind you. Jake has a tendency to wake up roughly five minutes before the alarm goes off, most likely out of habit.

The man finally musters the energy to rise from his bed, and begins to stumble to the bathroom while cursing the sun. Taking a look through the mirror, his gaze is met with a pair of brown, mean looking eyes, blonde hair, and a scowl.

"Yepp, I need to shave." Jake mumbled as he began to pull out his gear. After cutting himself a good number of times, and cursing a bit more, Jake finally hopped into the shower.

I suppose I should censor his shower scene and activities, and take this time to better explain what our protagonist looks like. Jake is moderately well built, and thin. Standing at a staggering height...of...well...5'7''... His eyes are of the lightest brown, but alas, give him a very mean look despite their soft tone. This coupled with the fact that the young man has a tendency to space out usually puts him between a rock and a hard place more frequently than not. Sometimes thugs even go so far as to approach him, which usually causes a violent confrontation. The rumors of these fights and his mean look became the start of many foul rumors, and now many of his normal classmates are scared to approach him. It's even worse for his love life. Despite being moderately good looking, and having a couple women interested in him, none will approach him due to his eyes and the rumors. This makes for a very boring love life as one could imagine.

Finally cleaned up and out of his bad mood, Jake walked into the kitchen to put on a pot of coffee. He pulled out the breakfast he had prepared the night before...well...actually...it was leftovers from McDonalds. Quite healthy...He then poured himself a cup of the finished coffee and turned on the TV. Various news stations appeared as he flipped through the channels.

"Today, in Royal ROAD..."

"The Royal Road market..."

"Royal Road hall of fa..."

As Jake turned off the TV, he was in a rage. He was sick of being the only one without the game, and being so out of the loop.

As Jake arrived at his classes, his eyes were met by...no one's. Once again, everyone averted their eyes to avoid his stare and grew eerily silent. Mumbling, Jake made his way nonchalantly to his seat. As classes started, time began to pass at an immeasurably slow rate. During breaks, he was tortured further as he is every day. All day, every day, talks of Royal Road, fun, and adventure. He was sure he was the last one in this world without a capsule. This fact coupled with his mean looks meant almost no one approached him, and he had nothing in common with his classmates. All of that, however, was about to change.

Yes, Jake had finally stashed away enough over the last two years to be able to afford a capsule plus installation. While he was at class for the day, a company was working hard to get him all set up! Finally, when he arrives home he can begin his legacy in Royal Road. Finally, he would no longer be out of the loop and perhaps he could even begin conversing with classmates. He hoped this, in turn, would help him make some friends, which he needed sorely. The rest of his day was filled with thoughts of adventure as he could barely contain his excitement.

Finally, as his last class ended, Jake ran home at a speed which he has not traveled in years. All manner of thoughts pertaining to adventure, perils, and glory consuming him along the way. As he finally reached the door, he found a note which read, "Installation completed without issue, enjoy." With a wide grin on his face, he entered his home and ran straight to his bedroom. His face lit up like a child's on Christmas, and he jumped in the glistening silver pod almost immediately."Oh! Comfy!" He proclaimed as he closed the lid. In an instant, the inside turned dark, and a message popped up.

"Yes!" He shouted.
