《Warfare's Ultimate Frontier》Chapter 273 Leader of the Femme Fatale

Matron Fu Hao decided to appeal to the leaders of the Femme Fatale to discuss the matter of hiring Jaxon Long to help them research and develop a satellite. She knew that it would not be easy to do such a thing, especially considering that the leaders had already done her a huge favor by allowing them to ally themselves with the Under 1 Banner faction under Baron. The leader of the Femme Fatale was Lady Xian.
There were many under her including her attendant Lu Mu, who had helped Under 1 Banner become a faction in the first place by fighting alongside them in the faction selection tournament. Hua Mu Lan who was specialized in the protection of Lady Xian. Lastly, there was Yue Nu who specialized in training troops, a lot more effective than Lu Mu. However, when Fu Hao reached the main hall, there was one more person that was there, it was Huang Gui Gu, a female prodigy from the Yellow Wang faction.
(HGG) "As flattered as I am that you extend your hand to help me, I'm afraid that I cannot accept your offer. This is my final answer, I am staying at the Yellow Wang faction and that is that" Huang Gui Gu said as she bowed and took her departure looking a bit annoyed.
(FH) "Huang Gui Gu," Fu Hao said as she passed by the leaving rising star.
(HGG) "Matron Fu Hao." She nodded as the two crossed paths, Fu Hao stepped forward to greet the leaders of the Femme Fatale.
(FH) "Ah, it looks like all 4 of you are here. I've come with a request."
(YN) "Again? You sure seem to have cashed in a lot of your favors in the last little bit. What's the special occasion this time?" Yue Nu, the trainer, asked.

(FH) "Indeed, little girl. This time it is in the pursuit of developing a satellite. I wish to recruit Jaxon Long for this task.
(HML) "Who is this Jaxon Long? I keep tabs on all of the R&D specialists in the Chinese community but I don't think I've ever heard of him," Hua Mu Lan, the fighter strategist, said.
(FH) "This is because he is not a researcher nor a developer. He is part of the Under 1 Banner faction that we are allied with and I'm sure Lu Mu is able to vouch for him."
All the attention was instantly shifted from matron Fu Hao to Lu Mu. Lu Mu instantly felt the pressure on.
(LM) "I... Think that if anybody in our community is up for this task, then it is he who is most likely to succeed. He has developed many aircraft, and I'm sure if he was given enough time and resources, he would be able to build a satellite." Lu Mu said backing up Fu Hao.
(LX) "I've heard enough, matron Fu Hao, how confident are you in developing this technology? If we were to actually start now, there is no telling whether or not another faction or R&D group will get to the final prize before us. Are you absolutely certain about this?" Lady Xian, the current leader of the Femme Fatale asked.
(FH) "As with everything else, there is no guarantee that we will be able to do it before another group."
(LX) "Then what good is it to grant you all these resources. I need results! You and that new member have managed a good few inventions these past few decades, I don't doubt that. However, to enter into developing a satellite this late into the game is a huge risk. Other factions have begun this development decades ago. If you had come to me about this a decade ago, then I would not hesitate to support you, but now I don't believe that we will be able to come out of this on top."

(FH) "Oh come now, don't be like that. You say almost that exact line every time I go do something big. Why don't you put your trust in me more? I used to run the Femme Fatale, or did you forget?"
(LX) "Of course I haven't forgotten, but the risks this time are truly high."
(LM) "Lady Xian, I believe it is appropriate to give Jaxon a chance at this. He is the forefront of aerial aircraft, more so than anyone else I've ever seen in this community. I think this is a worthy investment."
(LX) "What' gotten into you? You would never usually recommend anyone other than a lady. Have your experiences with this man changed your attitude this much?"
(LM) "Uh, it's not that. Do you remember that blueprint that I showed you of? Jaxon was the one who designed that. So I think he would qualify for this position."
(LX) "Oh is that so? If even Lu Mu wholeheartedly recommend Jaxon, then I'll give him a chance. However, I will put a restriction on his term. You must submit a report of all you have accomplished when 20 years have passed. I don't know how far along the other groups are at completing this satellite, but you all better work fast. Understood?"
(FH) "I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for your choice in the decision. You will not be disappointed. I can almost guarantee it."
(LX) "Whatever. Say, who gave you the recommendation of Jaxon in the first place?"
(FH) "It is that new member who you spoke of earlier. As far as I know, the two of them, along with the leader of the Under 1 Banner faction used to be friends back when they were all alive."
(LX) "Oh, that is certainly interesting. They must have come here pretty recently if Jaxon developed an aircraft of that caliber. The new generation seems to be quite promising. It's almost frightening."
(FH) "Indeed, that is why if we don't improve ourselves, then even the newer generations will surpass us. I know you think this reclusion is a good idea, but I think you know that many of the members don't see it the way you do. I urge you to reconsider."
(LX) "Maybe soon, but now is not the right time."
