《Warfare's Ultimate Frontier》Chapter 247 Mastermind

Guan Yu and Yue Fei were having their squads of hundreds of planes to now go toe to toe with the thousands that their enemies had, with many more coming in to encroach them. Though they had more advanced planes, their pilots were almost out of energy as they had fought for nearly the entire day without rest. Adrenaline was a killer drug, but it could only keep the effects of fatigue away for so long before the pilots felt it. The two leaders had to think of some way to ditch these nuisances and get to the capital base to switch out their pilots for new ones, plus a restock of supplies was in order as well.
This would not be an easy feat as they were getting more and more surrounded by each passing minute. After a few minutes of fighting, Guan Yu and Yue Fei’s entire squadron turned around once more to gather into one large army. The strategist that masterminded this situation on the opposing side took the chance to move as many of his planes and such to surround them. Though this tactic was great on land, it did not really apply to this situation here as Guan Yu and Yue Fei’s planes were capable of much higher speeds and maneuverability than what was required to trap them.
Once all of them were in one place, Guan Yu and Yue Fei took a chance and tried to break through the direction complete opposite of their capital base in hopes of having an easier time breaking out. This intuition served them well as they were able to break out fairly quickly and they sped off only to turn around a few kilometers later to loop to the south to their capital base. Even with their great speed, switching out pilots and planes would not be an easy task if they lead their enemies right to their front door. That was why once they got to a comfortable head start, all the planes were grounded for a short while and a transfer of oil was issued for roughly a quarter of the planes that would continue to fight. The other 3 quarters of planes would have just enough fuel to make it back to base.

Guan Yu would take the majority of the squads, his and Yue Fei’s, back to their capital base to make sure that the switching was done with maximal efficiency. Meanwhile, Yue Fei would take the other group to buy Guan Yu some time. The transfer of fuel took up a bit longer than they expected and their pursuers were minutes away from firing before Yue Fei managed to get all of his pilots up in the air. The squad that was under the control of Yue Fei wasn’t just ordinary pilots either, these ones were the most experienced and best shots out of the entire army.
With the split in forces, Yue Fei needed to exercise even more caution than before as his army was even smaller than before while the enemies still had loads of backup. Yue Fei chose to continue to run away leading his pursuers away from Guan Yu, but only after fighting for a bit to ensure Guan Yu would not be able to be hunted down anymore. The chase continued on for a few more hours after that, but the sun was almost down. Yue Fei knew that he would be able to escape if he just made it back to the capital base. If his enemies were fools, then they would follow him.
It turns out that they were indeed following him, but Yue Fei knew that with the defenses set up at the base, there would be no way for them to break in with just these numbers alone. So, he pressed on and continued to head to the base with his foes in fast pursuit. The sunset came and gone, yet the pursuit was still ongoing. Yue Fei could only guess as to what they were trying to do. They had spent the day not being able to take out a few squadrons of which they sent in many squads that were far greater in number. In addition to that, they had even lost a great deal in just this one day alone. If he had to guess, the enemy strategist wasn’t so keen on letting the day end without at least one victory.

Yue Fei could understand the feelings of frustration that his enemy was undoubtedly feeling. To think that you were one of the best in the game only to be humiliated time and time again was not a fun time. He took a quick peek at the radar that was on the plane that he was in and saw that there appeared to be more planes hot on his heels than he had expected. Way more. Could they be planning a night raid in hopes of getting something out of it? A foolish choice to say the least.
Guan Yu was now almost at Yue Fei’s position and he was about to turn back to the base until he got a message from Yue Fei about the enemies that needed a little lesson in night raids. He was ecstatic about this as he had been waiting for an opportunity to test the North American F-86D Sabre on actual opponents. The order was given for those who were pilots of these planes to get ready for combat and to go to Guan Yu’s position immediately. Yue Fei took the chance to slow down a bit so as to give his enemies a bit more time to catch up.
Once the Sabres were in Guan Yu’s command, he gave the message for Yue Fei to get out of the way. It took only a few minutes more for the night to completely envelope the battlefield. The visibility was minimal and this was exactly what Guan Yu would say was the benefit to having such a weapon in his arsenal. Now, it was time for his time to shine and give back his opponents the experience of being hunted as he had been.

Making a difference
Harry Potter FanFiction: Hannah Longbottom liked to watch the people who entered the Wizarding World via the small, walled courtyard behind the Leaky Cauldron for a reason: During her not so long life, she had learned about three different boys who had entered the Wizarding World alone, leaving behind a life so horrible she could barely imagine. One of them, who became a friend of hers, had gone through great hardships to become a hero, one of the greatest wizards the Wizarding World had ever seen. One of them, who had been her teacher, had become cold and bitter, and no one had ever recognized what amazing talents he could have offered, until it had been too late. One of them, the monster she had helped to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts, had become the most dreaded, most dangerous, and most deadly man Great Britain had ever seen, and yet it could have all been different, if someone had just tried to make that difference early enough in that life, if he had not boarded the train to Hogwarts all alone. Already posted at Devianart and AO3, I've included a link to RoyalRoad on my profiles there.
