《Warfare's Ultimate Frontier》Chapter 246 A Master Opponent

Baron took his squadrons to search a couple more areas to see if he could find out where the enemy was, but no luck. He continued the search for another hour before he got a report from the capital base about another wave of enemies heading in from the South. It didn't take long for Baron to realize that the search that he was on was nothing more than a fruitless endeavor and he would be better off intercepting this new enemy. However, he did give the order out to his pilots to be on the lookout for anything that resembles an ambush on their way to the new location.
This new wave that Baron was going in to intercept was a much bigger one than even the one that Guan Yu and Yue Fei had to deal with, as such, Lu Mu was despatched and would help out Baron in deflecting this group of enemies. At first, they had no idea just how big the new group was, but as Baron got closer, he realized that it was far more than he and Lu Mu would be able to handle on their own. Even if that was the case though, they had to stand their ground and fight with everything in their power.
The moment that Lu Mu left the capital base, a message was sent to Guan Yu and Yue Fei to come and assist Baron and Lu Mu on the new battlefield. The army that Guan Yu and Yue Fei were currently engaged with were nearly dealt with and so the two thought that they would be able to finish it up quickly and head on over to the other battlefield, but that did not turn out to be the case. As it turned out, the group of foes that Baron had lost track of snuck up behind Guan Yu and Yue Fei’s squads and attacked them from below, an unusual tactic. Normally, the sensing technologies of the new planes that they were using would have detected these new enemies long ago, and they did, but the pilots did not see any enemies so they just assumed it was a glitch or something. The coalition out to get Baron and his team actually flew their aircraft at almost ground level and then proceeded to fly upwards at a steep incline once they were near the battle and that’s how they were able to get the upper hand.

Somehow, these coalition reinforcements were able to bring forth a surge in morale in their allies. This was particularly not good for Guan Yu and Yue Fei as they had believed that prior to this they were on the very verge of breaking the enemies’ spirit and that they would begin to fall back. With these newcomers, it would still take quite some time yet. They weren’t immediate threats just yet, but their presence must mean that Baron was not able to sniff them out, which did not happen easily. This could only mean that someone within this group was a fairly capable leader.
The two quickly stopped their all-out offensive and had their forces split up once more, Guan Yu headed West as fast as he and his squads could, and Yue Fei did the same but to the East. Just as they flew out a few kilometers, both of them detected a group of enemies that were lying in wait for them. This must be the work of the skilled leader in the new group. Guan Yu and Yue Fei both decided to switch directions just before they hit the ambushing groups so that they would not have to be delayed. If they were, the planes pursuing them would be able to catch up and they would have to face a battle on two fronts. Something that was not very worth the effort.
Guan Yu used this method multiple times all the time evading his pursuers at a leisurely distance from his enemies. This continued on for at least a couple of hours with no one really getting any damage into their respective enemies. Then, Guan Yu encountered a group ahead that was a bit familiar. As he got closer, he figured out that the group was not an enemy group, but rather Yue Fei’s. There could only be one reason for this, the mastermind had all of this figured out long ago and all of this was according to his plan.

Not only were Guan Yu and Yue Fei expertly directed to head for each other, but they had also both done so willingly as if they had everything in their control from the beginning. It was at this moment that both of them realized that they were now facing off against a possible aerial master, and this would be their first serious test. This would be the first aerial master that they fought, outside of Jaxon who they suspected to be at that level, and they would get no second chance if they lost.
It was do or die time for these two, and no matter how they fought, it would have to be with all of their forces, not just half-assing it as they had mostly been doing before. Prior to this, all of their enemies were fools who didn’t really have as great of a grasp on aerial warfare as Guan Yu and Yue Fei had. Plus, Guan Yu and Yue Fei had vastly superior weapons at their disposal. That was why the two of them were able to hold out on their own despite being so overly outnumbered. This time was different, a master was something that they were not confident in taking on, but they still had to do it.
As soon as they were within radio distance, the two of them made a quick few seconds of dialogue and plan out their strategies. Then, just as they were about to cross each other, both squads turned around 180 degrees to fight their respective pursuers. In the corner of their detection system, several more blips were fast approaching. Most likely more enemies that they would have to deal with. Time was short, and everyone fought as best as they could given the circumstance.
