《Warfare's Ultimate Frontier》Chapter 219 End Of Tournament part 8

The Yellow Wang faction and the Sun Alliance faction had a mutual understanding that there would be no big moves for now. Only small scale battles between younger generations would be taking place just on the outskirts of each territory. This was a method of both sides combing each other’s defenses to see if there were any weaknesses that could be capitalized upon. Not only that it was a way for both sides to prepare for the eventual battle that would require a lot of resources that would be better off spent in a few quick, short, and decisive campaigns rather than any single continuous battle.
No matter how violent or how much blood has been shed, there would be no action from the top brass unless they seriously intended on launching a campaign. This also allowed for a lot of the younger generations to experience more warfare with others of their same skill level. In a sense, it was a training method to see who was the most capable of the unnamed youths. Of course, there were ones who outshone their allies, while others were defeated one after another. Such an experience was part of Planet 4. Just one month after all of this started, the Yellow Wang faction took the initiative to get the ball rolling.
The 4 leaders of the Yellow Wang faction figured that if they began the offensive moves first, that they would hold the advantage. While they certainly decided where to do battle, the advantage was really up to anyone who was able to shift the battle to their favor. Though this was a campaign, it was only a half-hearted one meant to see where the Sun Alliance territory was the weakest, for future reference. Only the armies of Wang Jian and Lian Po were allowed to participate in this incursion.

Xuan Feng and the other 3 all-stars would be going along with Lian Po while Wang Jian had a few of his pupils tag along as well. Many of the all-stars were on a first-name basis with each other as their masters were close allies. Though both the pupils and the masters tend to argue with one another over serious issues. The plan devised by the 4 leaders was for Wang Jian to lead an army right down the middle of the two capital bases. Then, Lian Po would lead another army shortly after to find an opening within the north part of the Sun Alliances’ territory. Finally, the all-stars of both Lian Po and Wang Jian’s would join hands and find a path to the capital base through the southern region.
This was a 3 pronged attack on their enemies, and the 3 generals in charge of each army would be Wang Jian, Lian Po, and a team-up between Lun Hu and Ya Guang. Before their masters left, Xuan Feng and the other three made sure to properly wish Lian Po luck on his campaign which he reciprocated. The pupils of Wang Jian met up with the all-stars of Lian Po a few days before they were supposed to head out to figure out how they were going to cooperate with each other and divvy up the army.
Once they had all of that sorted out, they sent out their armies and marched alongside them. The army that would be led by both Lun Hu and Ya Guang was about 5 million in size and most of that number belonged to the Pupils of Wang Jian. Though the two leaders of this army supposedly had the same amount of power, it was clear that Ya Guang was the better strategist, and fighter as well. Even if it is just by a little bit.

With the news of Wang Jian successfully taking over several bases in just a few days, followed by Lian Po finding the same rhythm, the combined army followed suit, but at a slower pace. Both of their masters had armies much larger than their own which led them to be able to take over bases quicker. Plus, their experience here on Planet 4 has been much longer than any of the all-stars. That said, Lun Hu and his team of 3 plus Ya Guang and his team of dozens were no slouches either and were able to take over multiple bases which showed skill.
Surprisingly, both Wang Jian and Lian Po were able to penetrate quite far into the territories of the Sun Alliance than they had originally planned. So, they decided to continue on the expedition to see just how far they could get to. Finally, after a month of successes, they had managed to get halfway through the enemy territory and to the capital base. That was when they finally encountered some pushback from their foes. Wang Jian was facing off with perhaps one of the most difficult teams of strategists on the Sun Alliance side while Lian Po was in roughly the same boat. Meanwhile, Lun Hu and Ya Guang were faced off with Li Guang and one other all-star under the legendary Sun Tzu, the most powerful strategist in the Chinese community at the moment.
The battle was fierce on all 3 battlefields, but Wang Jian was the first to defeat his opponents and continue forth. He had lost a fair amount of his men, but he did the math and believed that he could get a bit more land before he was forced to retreat. Lian Po, on the other hand, fared a little worse and defeated his opponent, but at too great a cost that he was forced to end his campaign there. Finally, Lun Hu and Ya Guang managed to take down Li Guang and his ally but they managed to slip away before anyone on the Yellow Wang factions’ side was able to kill them. The damage to their army was extensive, but they took a bit of time to properly reorganize and allow the men some time to rest before heading out once more. They had gotten the news of the other two battlefields and they were not at all surprised at the result.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)

World Master
Hey! I once lived on your world back in 2056. But that was a long time ago and there’s probably no records of my existence. Or, maybe, I haven’t even been born yet… …I’m still figuring out of the timelines correspond. Anyways, I was or will be, or whatever you want to call it (maybe I am?), John Pitcher, a resident at St. Jude’s Hospital for the Mentally Ill. I was a computer programmer and my parents had me admitted there because I was convinced that I had been contacted by Set, the Egyptian god of chaos, about creating a world. Well, apparently, I’m something akin to the great times a hundred grandson of over 10 000 gods, and they didn’t want me to live an ordinary, dull life (well, except for the god of normalcy, but he doesn’t count). Set gave me three years to prepare myself. This begins right at the end of those three years. [participant in the NaNoWriMo Royal Road challenge] I originally had this as part of the prologue, then I realized that it made a better synopsis. Please note: this might seem a bit clunky because I haven't done a lot of writing, and this is supposed to be a kind of prequel to another story that I plan on doing in the future. I will not be fully explaining everything but instead will be explaining things in that other story. This is mainly to help fill in the lore of the world so that people will have at least a basic idea of how things function. Regardless of that, that story won't be written for at least another year, so deal with it. Note: I am using ideas from several different authors in order to make sure that this can be a proper story. You may or may not recognize where I got them. I am not writing a Fanfiction and do not claim these as my own. I will add to a list of titles below as I find myself using those ideas. World Keeper (obviously) The Wandering Inn The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound (not yet, but eventually) A bunch of others that I haven't thought of yet
