《Warfare's Ultimate Frontier》Chapter 195 The Counterattack

There were 2 battlefields that needed to be dealt with, but Baron could only do so much and opted to take care of the smaller army while the majority of his forces and strategists were sent to take out the much larger force that, quite frankly, they all expected would be a much tougher fight. Baron would only be focusing on his battle, so all he could do was to believe in his men on the other side. Another thing that Baron did before his enemy reached his defenses, was that he aimed all of the deepstrikes towards the other battle so that they could be better used to defend against Xuan Feng.
Once Baron’s and the new army’s frontlines began to clash, it was night and day which sides’ soldiers were better trained, it was not Baron’s. He could see it from the back of the camp. Slowly but surely, his soldiers were being pushed back. It wasn’t just that his soldiers were being outplayed by their enemies at every step, it was also that each individual was just less seasoned overall. This did not bode well for Baron considering this could lead to a loss of morale if nothing changed.
Only a few more hours until sunset, and he could not afford to be careless here. He could tell from the movements of the enemy movements that they were planning to end everything today. That was why both sides had to give it their all for what their goals were. Baron could tell that if this dragged on past sunset, there were no guarantees as to whether or not his forces would be outplayed. For now, though, he could only guide his soldiers from the back and hope that they would be capable of holding out.
Just as Baron predicted, the battle did drag on until past the sunset and the stakes were a lot higher when visibility was low, for both sides. It seemed like this was the case for Yue Fei and Guan Yu’s battlefield as well. Baron had to shut off the deepstrikes for fear of hitting his own allies. Perhaps this was part of Xuan Feng’s plans as well. This led Baron to quadruple the guards that the deepstrike fields normally had in order to secure one of their most powerful weapons.

Since Baron’s first loss against Xuan Feng, he kept thinking of ways to make sure that he would never be caught up surprised at a night raid ever again. His answer? He had to get help from Zhang Da Zhi and one of his blueprints, a giant armored vehicle with giant lights attached to the back of it. This would provide vast amounts of light to the area that they needed to look at, but most importantly so that they could shoot. Of course, there were only so many of these vehicles and they were fairly easy to target, that was why only a few were used at a time. They would also be switched every so often so that Baron’s own armies would not be within sight of these beams.
Such a blinding light to the front of the enemy lines served as a deterrent before they started advancing any further than they already were. Baron was now expertly handling every one of his units out in the open. As a result, his soldiers were now the ones pushing their enemies back like how they had been for the majority of their entire battle. Every few minutes he would get snippets of reports of soldiers from the front lines detailing their experiences, and what they saw. A speedy response was given off from Baron and his soldiers began to get more acclimated to encounters in the night. Soon enough, they were beginning to report in less and less since they started to have successes on their own.
However, this did not last forever as those on the front lines could only be fighting for so long before they fell over from exhaustion. Therefore, halfway through the night, Baron switched around a few units while keeping a few of the unit commanders so that they could give a few pointers to the new groups that had few experiences towards night battles.

Soon enough, daybreak was nearing, but neither of Xuan Feng’s armies was ready to give up. However, Baron had one surprise left for them after all this time that they were unable to breakthrough. During the previous day, and night, Baron had gotten a few mechanics others who worked on the deepstrikes and knew the blueprint inside out, to take a look at how they were sabotaged. Well, it did not take long before the problem was found, and it was quite easy to fix it back to normal working order, the only problem was that it would be time-consuming, and with thousands to fix, it would take quite a bit of time.
Baron got a few of his trusted strategists to go help out and all of the deepstrikes were able to be used again thanks to an exhaustive amount of repetitive tasks. Now, Baron ordered his deepstrikes to all be fired up and ready to go since they were once again able to see the enemies and they fired. The sheer amount of missiles that left Baron’s camp and into one of the two enemy armies were staggering.
There was just no way to defend against something like that, and even if you did, you couldn’t take out every single one of them anyways. Soon enough, this grand display of firepower on Baron’s part forced both of Xuan Feng’s armies to retreat in complete and utter disarray. With the image of his enemies running for their lives, Baron cracked a smile on his face. He had done it, he had pushed back not one but two of Xuan Feng’s armies. He came out on top this time, there was no doubt about that. Baron had a few things left to do.
