《Warfare's Ultimate Frontier》Chapter 160 Roxi's Test
Advertisement
Baron led Roxi to his headquarters to start testing her on how her comprehension of guns was. Once they got there, the two of them went into a sim together on opposing sides and met up during the preparation time. The map was to be the siege of Baghdad in the 13th century. They started discussing how they were going to go about those and Baron showed her how to do everything that he has learned to do during all his time here.
Of course, Roxi was really no stranger to war. She has been in a fair share of firefights, warzones, and a bunch of other really dangerous situations. It was almost as if she was accustomed to all the death and destruction that the world had to offer. Then again, she was more for fighting a war instead of leading people to do it for her. Though she had led a few troops in her time, it was nothing like the tens of thousands of men that she would have to lead in this simulation. Baron would be on the offensive while she would be on the defensive.
She spent the entire preparation time to tinker in her lab trying to build some of the best guns and weapons that she found to be useful in a war such as this. Baron had warned her that she needed to train her troops in order for her to have a more cohesive and faithful army that would be willing to serve under her. Roxi ignored all of that advice and had her lieutenant do so for her. This works, but would not yield as great as a result if she herself did so, but none of this mattered to her. All she cared about was her weapons and how she would be able to use them to her advantage. In a way, she didn’t really care about her army, she just cared about her experiments.

The war started and Baron immediately sent in a couple of dozen Mark I tanks to test his ex’s defense strategy. However, what would surprise him more than there being almost no semblance of unity among her troops was that at the highest watchtower closest to himself, there was a brilliant blue light that swept across the field of tanks. Utterly destroying them with nothing but a mere scrape. Clearly, this weapon was nothing like he had seen before, it might as well have been in a science fiction novel for all he knew. It seemed as if this weapon was also quite hard to control as the beam started to get more and more off course the longer the beam was in use.
Eventually, Baron snapped out of his daydream and sent in his wall breaching team to lessen Roxi’s defenses. This offensive was a bit harder to fight back using one person, so Baron was still using this move to see what Roxi’s response would be. Imagine his shock when the area all around the walled city exploded with detonation cords and such. Essentially wiping out all of Baron’s advance team in one go, or at least enough so that he would not be able to salvage the situation with them in the center. Now, this was truly unexpected. Of course, normally he would never put all his eggs in one basket and make such a rookie mistake like the one that he just made, but this was against someone new to planet 4 after all. He had to go a little bit easier on her just as Yue Fei had done to him all that time ago.
Now it was time for him to make a move, but just what could he do? He had already used the tanks that were supposed to deal massive damage, that clearly did not work out as planned. Also, his wall demolition team had casualties so high that it put his entire army into a slightly lowered morale state of mind. This would normally be of no problem, but Baron had seen enough, with just these two maneuvers, Roxi had already proven herself to be quite the knowledgeable person. In the end, Baron decided to just send the rest of his army to fight it out with the walled defendants of the city and called it a day.

It turned out that Roxi had one more trick up her sleeve that Baron did not expect. All of the soldiers upon the walls were well equipped, and not in the fashion of a 13th-century warrior, but rather, in the fashion of a 21st-century soldier. Not only were these soldiers wielding massive machine guns, but they were also wearing highly specialized suits that seemed to be of quite high quality. This warfare would continue on for another 2 days with Baron continually sending all of his men to their deaths and not getting anything out of it even after all that. Eventually, Baron ran out of men to send and the simulation ended there and then. The two of them were teleported back to Baron’s HQ and they two started chatting again.
(BM) “That was quite an experience. Where did you learn to make all those weapons, Roxi?” Baron was now beyond intrigued.
(RB) “Heh, it’s quite amazing what you can do with technology that the governments have tossed aside, backing from some of the most powerful organization on the planet and the budget of a Fortune 500 company.”
(BM) “Even so, that was beyond belief what you have shown me. What was that blue beam that you used to take down my tanks? That one surprised me most of all.”
(RB) “Oh, you like that don’t you? You’ve got a good eye, that weapon was made by me and I’m the only one who knows about its existence as it is one of my creations. Not even my employers knew of it, that is how secretive this weapon is to me. The best part? Even if you picked it up, you couldn’t use it since I have locked it so that only I would be able to shoot it.”

Battle Royale across the Universe: The Species Tournament
Join the Species Tournament! You might lose your sanity, and quite possibly, your life. But hey, great adventure awaits. Who would accept such a deal and risk it all for glory and the unknown? Well, apparently quite a few. In fact, 1.000.000 life forms will face each other in this century’s tournament. Who will win and who’ll be sent packing? Who will gain strength and who’ll leave with trauma? Find out on this week’s episode of the Species Tournament! ................................................................................................... Additional notes (for those who want more details before giving the novel a try): - It’s a battle royale type of setting between humans, pixies, elves, and dwarves organized by a Television Channel from the Demon World. - The MC foolishly decides to join the competition and will struggle to redeem himself throughout the story. The unfolding events will force him and his friends to mature in different ways. - Each round will be held in a different location/planet. The rounds and the locations will become crazier as the plot progresses. - There will be a mystery aspect to the story, since the demons don’t really like spoon feeding contestants on what is going on. - You can expect some magic elements, though contestants won't have much access to them. - The members of each species will have their own unique worlds, back-stories, motivations, and traits. Some will fight for personal reasons while others for the sake of their people. The needs of many vs. the needs of the individual will clash on several occasions. - Finally, there will be twists and turns at every corner, so one should never get too comfortable. Thanks in advance to all who read my story, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.
