《Warfare's Ultimate Frontier》Chapter 130 Too Late

(WSG) “You won’t give me the satisfaction? Well, I think I was just about done with you all anyway. Guards, kill them now.” Wu San Gui ordered.
At this point, there was nothing that Baron, Guan Yu, nor Yue Fei could do to stop their predicament. They had no army, no ships, no sign of reinforcements, and no way of getting out. They already knew for sure that Wu San Gui would not allow escape after all he did to capture them in the first place. Meaning, there would be appropriate safeguards from letting them flee.
This was the end of their run, and as they were executed, they saw an armada of ships that had the sign of the Forever Pirates that seemed neverending. There was only one thought in their minds, they were not able to hold on long enough for them to get reinforcements. Wu San Gui relished the deaths of some of the people he hated most on planet 4, then turned around only to be in shock at what he saw, an entire fleet that outnumbered his own at least 10:1.
Baron, Guan Yu, and Yue Fei were instantly transported back to planet 4 to the bewilderment of many others in the tournament that had died just before them. Though this run of theirs had not been as fruitful as in the aerial tournament, they were quite happy with the fact that they were able to push Wu San Gui, a member of Vesper that was known for being Naval masters, to such an extent as they did. The three of them talked for a bit before splitting up to get their own businesses sorted out. Baron would continue to watch the tournament while Guan Yu and Yue Fei would both check in on their elderly duties.

Baron reckoned that the three of them would not even be able to receive any prizes, much less any recognition for the performance that they put up. He looked back up at the broadcast that was showing the tournament that was still going on after they had been killed. It showed what had happened moments after their deaths.
The armada that bore the crest of the Forever Pirates were actually the forces of Zi Bo and Zi Ji Ge along with the elders of the Forever Pirates that they had gone to go warn of their plans. Zi Ji Ge had a brief talk with Wu San Gui asking about what they had done to Baron and the other two. Once she learned of their fate, her brother took a part of his own fleet to deal with Wu San Gui.
Now, his ships were far more powerful than anything Wu San Gui had, so just 100 of Zi Bo’s ships were able to take on and win against nearly 700 or so of the ironclads. Granted, the ironclads were battered from days of battle, and the ones that weren’t damaged were still no match for Zi Bo’s mighty fleet.
What took Baron everything he had to fend off Wu San Gui, was dealt with by Zi Bo in just a few hours. After this slight diversion, they all headed to Madam Zheng’s position to tell her of the news of the arrival of the elders as well as the execution of Baron. The meeting that followed was a meeting between titans of naval warfare, most of which had been a part of Madam Zheng’s crew when they were all alive.
(MZ) “Well, it took you guys quite a few days but you finally made it. Give me a status report.” Madam Zheng spoke to everyone.

(ZJG) “Well, while we were sneaking past the Vesper’s territory, we got word from our spies that Wu San Gui was targeting Baron. So my brother and I, along with a few other elders who had a grudge against that little gremlin went to go and relieve Baron. Once we got there, we learned that we had just missed saving Baron, Guan Yu, and Yue Fei.” Zi Ji Ge started.
(ZB) “Then I took a hundred of my ships and took him out of the equation.” Zi Bo said reserved.
(MZ) “Any damages to your ships?”
(ZB) “3 that need serious repairs and 10 that need slight repairs.”
(MZ) “Impressive as always. What about the rest of you lot? How was your experience when you were constantly being harassed by the Vesper’s?”
“Not too bad, I’m just glad that they didn’t send anyone of higher ability than the ones that they did or else we would have been done for.”
“He speaks the truth, the only people that were coming after us were mostly people who wanted a challenge and those who only had a little bit of skill.”
“It appears as though the Vesper’s were not really invested in us, that’s why they chose not to spend that many resources in taking us down.”
“More like they didn’t spend any on us. Have none of you realized that despite all the effort that they spent to box us in, they sure were pretty lax in letting us escape. Even if we did manage to do it in complete secrecy.”
(MZ) “That is pretty concerning, but you shouldn’t worry about such trivial matters now. You are all here, and I’m assuming that the others will arrive shortly as well. Rest for today, we have work to do starting from tomorrow onwards.”
(ZJG) “Hold on, the other group that we split up from should have gotten here already, are you saying that they have not gotten here yet?”
(MZ) “That’s right.”
(ZJG) “We were delayed by Wu San Gui, that should have given the other group ample time to come here before us. What happened to them to cause them to get here so late?” As soon as she finished speaking, a messenger arrived with some news.
“Message from the group of elders, we require urgent reinforcements. We have been surrounded by many elders of Vesper, and this is nothing but a guess, but we reckon that their leader is among those who are participating as well. There is nobody who could toy with us as he does. I repeat, urgent help requested.”

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.

Galduta
What seperates beasts from men isn't the language we speak or any such drivel taught to us in school. It isn't the way we walk or our intelligence that sets us apart. Some would have you believe that it is our ability to think and reason that makes us fundamentally different from the creatures that inhabit the world. That way of thinking, my friends, is entirely wrong. What seperates us from them and them from each other, is simply the skin that we all wear
