《Dragons Dogma: Chaos & Order》Chapter 1: Fae Studies

Nezintic watched as her siblings continued to tear at the flesh, occasionally hissing when others tried to latch onto their feeding spot. A few of them were not going to the green creature but to the trees nearby.
A sniff told her that there was food in those trees.
She stares at the tree. Nezintic looks at the white oak with some hunger.
Ding! For Identifying A Plant +[Identify]
In quick succession, she scanned everything around her.
The tree some of her siblings are going to is a White Oaktree. And the meat is a leaf fish.
The green creature was enormous. Nezintic went to the fish. Since it smells like both the Oaktree and something else.
She padded over to the leaf fish. Nezintic noticed that the ones eating the meat are avoiding eating the scales that look like leaves.
Weird.
Nezintic takes in the sheer size of its tail.
The fish dwarfs the size of her body and more so. Identification + intelligence tells her that leaf fish is 12 meters in length. Snapping her jaws forward with extreme speed, she clamped down on the fish, ripping and slicing with sharp teeth. Unfortunately, it seems her claws are not very suitable for cutting flesh.
After only a second of this, the hatchling bolted a large mouthful of white meat and a few leaf-like scales down her throat. Now that she had cleared a wound of scales, the devouring became smoother.
It seems like she can both this leafy stuff and the white meat.
After a dozen mouthfuls, she stopped and retreated to clean off the blood on her scales.

The numbers had changed; she was now gaining 3xp per day, meaning she would reach the next level sooner.
The numbers below her growth must be the estimated requirement of points she needs to level up.
Nezintic can’t feel that she is missing something.
Feeling tired, she went asleep on the grassy forest floor like the rest of her siblings.
Nezintic doesn’t know how many hours have passed, but the fish seems to have gotten way smaller. Mother must have eaten some. Half of its body was no longer there.

Standing up, she noticed her abdomen had shrunk, a hardly noticeable bump. Going for its belly and once more fed, gorging on the organs inside of the fish.

So consuming the innards of a creature gives more nutritional value than the flesh itself.
Nezintic ponders on what her statistics mean.
Strength: 4 [+][-] + (-2) Ability related to physical power of bodily functions.Any living being that is not made out of gas has at least 1 strength.
Agility: 14 [+][-] + Ability related to flexibility, movement, and dodging.Any living being that is not made out of gas has at least 1 dexterity.
Vitaliy: 4 [+][-] (-2)Ability related to prolonging an activity. Any living being that is not made out of gas has at least 1 vitality.
Intelligence: 7 [+][- ] (+2) Ability related to learning and solving. Any living being that is not made out of gas has at least 1 intelligence.
Wisdom: 10 [+][-] (+2) Ability related to making connections. Any living being that is not made out of gas has at least 1 wisdom.
Magic: 12 [+][-] Ability related to use mana. Any living being that is not made out of gas has at least 1 magic.
Processing the information. It seems that Nezintic species of dragon focuses on intelligence, wisdom, and magic with a minor boost in agility. And if she gets stats points, she can theoretically improve her basic statistics.
With her current abilities, Nezintic concluded she has no fundamental combat capabilities in a straight fight.
Looking around, the number of siblings has gotten smaller. There are now 121 hatchlings left. Most of them are lying on the ground with full bellies.
“Alright, it's time to find out which one you will be, my true daughter or sons.” Her mother spoke in a language she was not familiar with.
Her mother dropped a muscular organ to the ground. Nezintic scampered toward the landing place of the organ. This one differs from the fish. The blood is red this time, with blood still flowing.
The smells had awakened her siblings. Only three came rushing towards the red meat. Nezintic had no problems finding food. Her earlier feasting had made her a few centimeters bigger than even her largest rival. Now she was nearly 16 inches and more robust than her three siblings.

She backs off from her feeding, having no more room in her stomach.

Her earlier statement was the correct choice. The voice had automatically allocated the stat points for the specific build type of her character. There seemed to be a heavy focus on magic and intelligence, which she was okay with.
According to the skill descriptions, her traits require intelligence, wisdom, and magic to be of use. They do damage. The extra 5 stat points could be allocated to the deficient stats, like strength or vitally for that manner.
Which one should she pick? The strength shows muscle growth. So that would that mean she would get stronger, or her nimble body would condense the muscles like in her wings?
Or maybe vitally would be more appreciative of her current build. Given the delicate natural features, Nezintic imagines having more vitality and more rigid scales would benefit greatly.
“Hahhhiiiiisssssssss!”
Nezintic recoiled as one of her siblings turned from the half-eaten heart to hiss threateningly at her. The dragon was relatively small and evidently desperate to eat the heart. He seems to be mad at her. She would not stand for this. How dare that little ignoramus from keeping from the heart and breaking her from her train of thought?
Narrowing her eyes at the challenger, Nezintic crouched low to the ground in a defensive position and hiss as threateningly as she could.
However, the challenger, notwithstanding the fear in his eyes, didn’t back down. “Hahhhiiiiisssssssss!”
This time it let out a fierce hiss, a challenge! Nezintic instinctively knew that her opponent wanted to duel for the meal.
So older brother wants to duel his little sister? The fool...
Nezintic calculated the size difference between them. She was a foot long. And her older brother was only about 15 inches or so.
No matter what species of dragons they are or what alignment. Dragons are a prideful race and typically don’t share food.
Nezintic opened her petite wings. The insect-like wings giving the appearance of a beautiful butterfly. They compose two segments: a more significant segment near the front of her body and a smaller segment toward the rear. The wings possess intricate patterns with the character’s traditional orange, yellow, and blue coloration, which can emit a bioluminescent glow that shifts in color.
Taking a powerful stance, she reared up and let out a screech with a beat of her wings. No more like a chirp like a heavily sped-up reptile roar and birds screech mixed together.
“... chirp...”
The chirp-like roar petrifies the green faerie dragon. Her older never left the spot. She had won, and the exaltation of victory flowed through her. Tired of this pathetic display, Nezintic gave an antipathetic glare to her brother. He fled to the corner of Oaktree a second later.
Ding! Challenge Won!
Nezintic blinked. The notification didn’t surprise her this time.
Ding! For Winning A Challenge +7xp
Ding! For Petrifying [1] Opponent and [117] Peers +[Roar]
Nezintic absorbed the information and look around. It seems that her roar also affected the mental state of her brothers. The only ones here now are her green brother and their mother, who was watching with proudness in her eyes.
Catching the eyes of her mother. Instinct took over as she walked over to the foot of her mother, who was waiting for her. The mother let out a bioluminescent glow of emerald and...
Ding! You Have Unlocked A Racial Ability From [Faerie Dragon] + [Draconic] + [Sylvan] + [Elven]
Ding! You Have Unlocked A Racial Ability From [Faerie Dragon] + [Darkvision]
Felt a wash of energy come from her mother suffuse her.
“Be strong, my child.”
Nezintic nodded and walked towards her path.
The path of getting stronger.
