Chapter 12 – The Ranking Tournament

"The 2nd Ranker Dark Vs the 3rd Ranker Kai, battle start"

The judge announced the start of the battle, the battle was dull as ever and I was bored to hell but as I was just about to finish the battle, I fell to the Ground.

As I was lying in the ground, Kai was smiling as he walked towards me to finish me of; suddenly a loud laughter was heard in the whole stage.

Yes, it was me, I was laughing at how simple his mind was, as Venom's small head got out and he sucked a strange matter out of my blood and put it in a small bottle.

"What is that snake?!"

"What happened just now?"

The crowd started making a ruckus as I stood up after Venom returned to the space ring as I started walking towards Kai.

"How… how could this be…, I was sure about doing …!!" (Kai)

"You think that just small tricks like poison could help you" (Light)

"What are you talking about?!…" (Kai)

Cold sweat started to appear on Kai's face and he tried to get away from me as I took out a small container that has a black liquid and held him from his neck while he tried to get out of my grip as he looked in fear at the bottle but then I stopped as I threw him out of the stage and walked towards the judge.

"You can have some of this and examine it; I believe you will find it quite interesting" (Light)

Then I walked to the seats once more after securing my rank as I grinned at Kai but just before I could rest it happened again.

"I want to challenge the 2nd Ranker" (Floria)

"But why would the 1st Ranker challenge me, I have a lower ranking than you" (Light)

"Don't you think that a fighting between the top 2 on the Ranking would be good to watch and can also be good for gaining battle experience or maybe you want to rest " (Floria)

I just wanted to pass this peacefully as I didn't even understand the reason behind this challenge coming from her.

"Well, if you want a fight too much then I will give you one" (Light)

I said with a smile, a fight was always welcome; it was just that I didn't want to cause another ruckus but thinking that the fight might be thrilling enough as my opponent was the 1st Ranker, whatever, I will think about that later, for now I will concentrate on the fight.

"The 2nd Ranker Dark Vs the 3rd Ranker Kai, battle start"

As the judge announced the start of the second battle, I decided to try a new Aura spell that I learned as to create objects using fire Aura as a spear made of fire materialized in my hands, on the other hand Floria held her staff as fire arrows appeared around her.

Endless fire arrows were launched at me as I avoided some while defending against some using my fire spear but just before I could realize it, a rain of fire arrows fell from above.

Although I managed to avoid some of the arrows some arrows pierced my arm, but before they could do any damage I used the second method in the Aura cultivation manual, which could covert magical attacks into Aura and soon enough the Fire arrows disappeared as they replenished my Aura.

"Looks like you have some good tricks, then I would have to use my trump card soon" (Floria)

As I looked at her, I realized her icy gaze has melted to a joyous smile as the battle continued I used the spells that I learned from the book one by one, it could be said that I gained joy in this fight but soon both of us had reached a critical condition so the fight had to end soon.

Suddenly a large fire staff that had the same color of the sun appeared in the hands of Floria …that was a true fire, I asked black about it.

[That is probably a variant true fire …this girl seems like she has the Fire Phoenix's blood running in her vines] (Black)

Now that I knew that, I could use my crimson spear without holding back, I took out the 'Crimson Aura spear' as I activated the 'Crimson Spear' skill.

The spear got covered in my true fire as it shone in a blue blackish color as we both charged at each other holding our true fire strengthened weapons.

The impact made a sound like an explosion as we both stood looking at each other when suddenly she fell to the floor as we both started laughing, then I extended a hand to help her stand up then she smiled as she took my hand.

"You win; you are the new 1st Ranker" (Floria)

"Well, if you insist" (Light)

While we were having a heartwarming chat, the crowd who were watching the fight was astonished as they couldn't comprehend what just happened but finally they seemed to realize that the fight had ended as the judge announced the results.

"The winner of the fight is Dark; he will be the new 1st Ranker"

As the shouts of excitement and praise sounded in the crowd, the tournament officially came to a close.

After that I went to my room which now had a different number as well as received a new command token.

I collapsed at the bed with a smile, it had been awhile since I had an exciting mock battle which reminded me of my training session on earth, feeling a little nostalgic I ad a pleasant sleep.

As I woke up I decided to go out and eat lunch in a fancy restaurant for a change but just as I got out from the room I saw Floria who surprisingly greeted me.

"I thought you didn't talk to anyone" (Light)

"That's not the case; I only recognize those who have strength only when they are my equal would I look at them, as for you even surpassed which deserves my respect" (Floria)

"Then would you like to have lunch with me, I was going to try a new restaurant" (Light)

"Well, I was actually going out for lunch now and since you are inviting me I will accept" (Floria)

We walked out of the Guild as people looked at us with surprise mixed with envy; they were surprised as they never saw Floria smiling before while they directed their envy towards me but 'what for we didn't even have this relationship' was my line of thinking as I smirked under my mask.

Arriving at the restaurant, I told her to order what she wanted but only then did I realize that she was a glutton just like me as such we only got back to our rooms back at night as lunch turned out to a become an eating contest.

Two days passed in a flash and soon the date for the expedition grew near by, Kai got expelled soon after the poison was revealed which turned out to be a crippling poison, those who consume it would collapse and only wake up after an hour without being able to move their limps for the rest of their lives.

With the severity of the poison, he got easily expelled and that was how I got read of the bugger.

The members of the expedition soon got ready as today was the day we would start traveling, I got out of my room clad in my Aura set as I walked full of confidence as I pledged to receive the inheritance of the 'Aura Magician'.
