Chapter 9 – the 'Phoenix' library and the first 'Aura magician'

Smirking under my mask, I started avoiding Kai's attacks; he was using a strange kind of magic to apply fire into his longsword but with me using 'shadow steps' at lv 5 and considering my agility points, there was no hope for his attacks to make contact.

[You used the skill 'Shadow steps', your speed becomes accelerated by 70% and your reflexes gets faster]

Then the crowd around us started to argue,

"How can he be that fast"

"Even if he is very fast, he won't stand a chance against the swordmage"

As if he understood that direct contact was impossible, he chanted a large fire spell but unfortunately for him all that fire was just like hot air for me, when I walked out from the fire storm unscathed, he finally started to realize his standing in this battle.

"How could you avoid this, you must be cheating somehow" (Kai)

"Is this your best excuse, this battle looks like it will take too long if I just avoided you son I think it's my turn to attack" (Light)

After that I used the same skill that he used with my spear as I got it out from the ring but I used my true fire for this so the spear shined in a red bluish color as I attacked him.

As soon as the spear hit his sword, the sword started to tremble, thinking about it I raised my Aura to the limits while applying the fire storm magic, the sword then shattered into pieces and Kai was thrown back and his eyes rolled back as he fainted.

With this the crowd started to swarm towards Kai while I thanked him in my mind as it was thanks to his battle that I learned two useful skill that would boost my attack power greatly.

"How could this happen, how could he beat the swordmage Kai"

"The swordmage is supposed to be the second ranker, does that mean that this guy is going to be the new second ranker"

After that the instructor came to me with an astonished face.

"to think that you were this powerful, well, with this you have been accepted to the 'Fire phoenix's Guild, I will now lead you to your new room and two days from now you need to report to the Gild master to receive your robe and your command token"

After saying that, he led me to a spacious room which was on the floor straight beneath the highest floor, beside this room there were two other rooms each one having a number above its door but the instructor suddenly changed the number on the room with number 2 as he put that number above my own room as he done all this using magic I was astonished realizing that magic truly was mysterious.

Before entering my room I noticed someone coming out of the room which had number 1 above it, as I looked I saw the cold icy beauty that I encountered that day with Jack, soon I realized that she was the number 1 genius ranker that had a variant true fire, as if she realized my gaze she gave me a cold glance as she left the floor, shrugging my shoulders I entered my own room.

Thinking that I had a new room, I decided to enter the dungeon after engraving the teleportation circle in my own bed so that I would teleport back to my own room when I return again.

Before entering the 11th floor I decided to check on venom as I called him out of the space ring, after he got out I realized that he had changed a bit as he now had fiery red lines running across his body, seeing that I decided to check his status.

Realizing that his level had gone up, his stats got increased by a good margin while gaining a new skill and a new title, I asked Black while being confused.

[he probably absorbed some power from the same core you consumed as he was trying to lessen the impact of the core's power] (Black)

Hearing that I patted Venom on the head as we got ready to enter the next floor, we got on the teleportation circle to reach there.

The monster of this floor seemed to be draconians from different spieces such as Wolfs, Orcs even bears and their levels varied between lv 20~25 but fighting them wasn't hard.

At the spur of the moment we ended up clearing two floors in two days while I leveled up four times and Venom leveled twice, as I my body had started to stabilize I had no problem with absorbing cores so I divided the cores between me and Venom and absorbed them while distributing the stats points I gained after a quick recovery I teleported to my room to have a good night of sleep as I checked my stats before sleeping.

As for the rewards I got one bracelet and one necklace with one having Aura effects while the other had Mana effects.

With both items being useful for using the Aura cultivation manual's methods, I was pretty satisfied with the loot.

After waking up I headed to the inn to have some breakfast after taking of my mask and set secretly, I had a delicious meal while chatting with the sisters.

After finishing my breakfast I returned to the Fire Phoenix guild's head quarters to report to the Guild master, as I entered I heard the people talking about me while whispering thanks to my heightened senses.

"The 'Blue Spear Demon' has came, it looks like he will be joining our Guild officially today"

It looks like they gave me a new nickname but I didn't mind it if it would scare arrogant people like that swordmage guy away, paying them no head I walked to the Guild master's room.

"Good, you came"

As I entered the room after knocking, I was greeted by the profound old man it turned out that he was the Guild master, which came to be pretty obvious after remembering how the other senior magicians treated him in respect.

"Here are your command token and The Guild's official attire"

He handed me a rope just like every one was wearing and a small token which had a phoenix engraved in it and number 2 was written in it, as I inspected the robe it turned out that it had an effect of amplifying fire damage by 5% while increasing fire damage resistance by 5%, as for token it didn't have any special effect whih made me a bit confused but as if he could understand my confusion, the Guild master suddenly spoke.

"This is called the fire phoenix token which is given to the top 100 on the Phoenix ranking which allows you to enter any facility inside the Guild such as the Phoenix library and the weapons hall and so on for free which usually requires contribution points but as for taking something from inside you would have to pay contribution points for it just like the other junior magicians"

After hearing the explanation my eyes lit up and I bowed to the Guild master as I left the room in a hurry as I wanted to check the library to see if there was any rare magic which would be useful for me.

As I reached the Phoenix library there were a pair of sinister eyes which I didn't realize, "I will get you Dark, you will pay for the humiliation you caused me" (???)

I entered the library without realizing whatever happened behind my back as I started checking the books but after two hours I started to get disappointed as I didn't find any special magic or something of that sort.

Just as I was going to leave I spotted an ancient looking book that had a familiar feeling to it, so I approached the book them I started to read, then I was astonished as I looked at the cover of the book.
