《Legacy - Book 01》01.18 Roll with the Punches

Nancy was sending emails from her office the next day, when a knock turned her head. Jared poked his head in.

“Hey, I’m taking Michael over to Abrams, then running around for work.”

Nancy leaned back and stretched, cracking her knuckles above her head. “You know he’s going to want to spend the night.” She stood and walked over to lean on the door frame next to him. “Any idea when you’ll be home?”

He shrugged. “Early evening, maybe. Depends on how quickly things go.”

“Can you give me a heads up when you’re headed back?”

He squinted at her. “Umm, yeah, sure. Need me to pick something up?”

She smiled. “I was thinking we could have a nice quiet non-Michael dinner.”

Jared glanced down the hallway quickly to make sure their son wasn’t near. “Oh my god, I’d love to. Think about what you want and I’ll call before I head home.”

“I will. Have fun out there today.”

Jared rolled his eyes and laughed as he turned to go back down the hallway. “Oh yeah, tons.”

Nancy spent the next couple hours sending emails and finishing a proposal. With work out of the way, she started her prep for this evening. She showered and shaved, leaving only a small strip of pubic hair. Jared was a fan of completely bare, but she had always felt uncomfortable with nothing down there. This was a suitable compromise.

She called in a favor and got a last minute spa appointment for a manicure and pedicure. After throwing on a loose blouse, knee-length skirt, and some sandals, Nancy rushed to the salon. Once finished and dry, she tipped well for the emergency job and drove to her next location: the lingerie store.

She browsed for a while before finding something Jared would enjoy: a matching lacy bra and panty set with suspenders and stockings. She found a sale rep only to find out they didn’t have her bra size in stock.

Nancy sighed and stared at the outfit for a moment before asking. “Can I buy the pieces separate? I might be able to match it up with something at home.”

“You can,” the clerk nodded before snapping her fingers. “Although, I just thought of something. Is this for general wear or something special?”

“Special.”

“Okay, what we can try is, give you a larger band size with a smaller cup size and see if that works. You’ll be busting out, but at least you’ll match. Wanna give that a shot?”

“Sure.” Several fittings later, they found a sweet spot that wasn’t too uncomfortable. It’s not like she expected to be wearing it for very long.

Her next stop was the drug store for condoms. She had been off birth control for a while and had no desire to reset her household with a baby. The certainty of sex would overshadow Jared’s possible disappointment over using protection.

Just as she predicted, Michael called while she was having lunch to ask if he could stay overnight. She said yes and made sure he knew to let his father know. That piece in place gave her and Jared the house to themselves until tomorrow.

After eating, she decided to make one last stop at a dress shop on the other side of town. Their styles tended to be a little risque, which wasn’t Nancy’s everyday preference but perfect for what she had planned.

While stopped at a light not too far from the shop, she saw what she thought was Jared’s car: tan, black steel rims, and the government issue plate. She tried to act normal and hoped, if it was him, he wouldn’t recognize her.

When the light changed, the car turned across in front of her. It was Jared, engrossed in conversation with his passenger. His female passenger. Something tightened in her stomach. Nancy watched the car in her side mirror until someone behind her laid on their horn. She jumped and realized had changed.

Putting on her signal, she did a u turn and followed several cars behind them as her mind raced. There were reasonable explanations for all of this.

His new position had supervisory duties, so it was understandable that he have someone in the car with him. It was the weekend, but his job was technically twenty-four-seven.

Jared had never mentioned a female coworker, but his division was large, and he had people under him now. Despite all this, her hackles were raised, and she couldn’t get over the sick feeling in her gut.

They wound through the city, eventually stopping at a run-down motel in a crappy part of town. Breathing hard, Nancy pulled into the gas station across the street and parked where she could see them in her mirror.

Jared got out and walked into the office. Coming back out a few minutes later, he looped his arm around the woman and they walked into a room. The leather of her steering wheel groaned under her grip and pain shot up her jaw from clenching.

Her entire body felt feverish as she stared at the door they went in. The woman appeared in the window and pulled the blinds closed. Nancy closed her eyes and laid her head on the steering wheel, trying to rein it in. Breathing rapidly through her nose, she rocked her forehead back on forth on the steering wheel.

“MOTHER! FUCKER!!” she screamed at the top of her lungs and beat the steering wheel until her hands hurt. Nancy sat back, hands still shaking in her lap, and took deep ragged breaths. She stared at the steering wheel until there was a knocked on her passenger window. She snapped her head to look, making the elderly man step back.

“Are you okay?” he said with his hands up. She glared at him for a moment before putting her car in drive and peeling the tires as she drove away from the gas station. Millions of thoughts rushed through her brain.

Part of her said you should turn around, go back, and knock on the door to confront them. She’d love Jared’s face dropping as he looked out the window and his poor attempt at explaining why he was there. The inevitable doom setting in as he realized the silver spoon was soon to be ripped from his mouth.

Part of her said you should drive home, collect everything that he loves, -his golf clubs, his autographed baseballs, those stupid vintage girly magazines- pile it all in the driveway, then set it on fire. Might as well throw in all his clothes and work stuff just to be thorough. Him coming home to a smoking pile of ash in his parking spot and changed locks would be wonderful.

Part of her said to pull over and call the lawyers. Start the divorce paperwork, get him removed from the bank accounts and trusts, take his name off the vacation home deeds, wipe him from all documentation of benefits. He liked to run his car to empty. It would be sublime to get his voicemail that he was stranded and none of his cards worked.

Part of her said you should turn around, go back, and drive the car into the room they were in. With any luck they wouldn’t die, just suffer some dismemberment or disfigurement. Something to forever remind them of the day and the act. Her car was well built, so she would escape with minor injuries, more than enough to stand above his hospital bed and gloat.

But there was another part, a quiet part, that chilled the fire burning inside her. That sent goose pimples down her arms.

You told him to do this.

You gave him permission.

You caused this.

Her chest tightened and she couldn’t catch her breath. Nancy pulled over and sat with her head on the steering wheel, staring at her knees as her father’s voice drown out everything else.

You bought a husband out of desperation.

How long do you think what you’ve stolen will fancy him?

You’re a horrible girl and no one will ever love you.

A truck honking made Nancy jump. Raising her head, she looked around to see she was on the side of Interstate Six heading into Ranola. She had driven through the tunnel and was about a quarter mile from the exit where she frequently stopped for gas. Nancy shook her head, not remembering even getting on the interstate.

What now? She didn’t want to go home. Honestly, she didn’t want to be anywhere. A heavy sigh escaped her as she laid back against her seat. Some time later, maybe a few minutes, maybe more, her purse buzzed. Her hand fished it out and brought it to her ear out of habit.

“Nancy Lanover,” she sighed more than said without thinking.

“You still working?” Jared said.

Her brows knit and pain shot up her jaw. She felt hot again, her rage rekindling.

“Something like that,” she said through clenched teeth, before taking a breath. “How was work?” she asked, trying to put a smile in her voice.

“Ya know, it was pretty good,” he chuckled, then said something she couldn’t make out because she had pulled phone away. This motherfucker. She took several deep breaths in an effort to calm herself before putting the phone back to her ear. She closed her eyes as she tried to moderate her breathing.

“What was that?”

“I asked what you wanted to eat? I’m on the far side of Crystal City, so I can reach just about anything on the way back. How hungry are you?”

Nancy bit down hard on her lip to keep from screaming at him. He was nowhere near Crystal City. “Umm,” she said as she tried to formulate an answer.

The violent white hot rage cooled and calmed. She opened her eyes as clarity flooded in. She smiled. “Something come up at work,” she said, almost too sweetly. “I’m heading into the office now. So, you’ll have to fend for yourself tonight.”

“Ah, okay. Want me to get you something anyway?”

“No. I’m planning on getting something in Ranola.”

“Okay! See you when you get in,” he chirped and hung up.

Nancy looked at the phone in her hand, laughed, and tossed it back into her purse. If Jared could find someone else to fuck, then so could she. She rejoined traffic toward the city as she worked out who it would be.

The need for discretion narrowed her possibilities, which narrowed further by who she found attractive. As she parked her car and got out with her things, she had narrowed it down to two finalists: her preferred option, who wouldn’t be willing, and the runner up, who would be more than.

Sean Boyd, her company’s head lawyer, was an attractive man of Irish American descent who was around her age. They had started with the company at the same time, and Sean could make her laugh and aggravate the hell out of her in the span of a few breaths.

They had almost dated until she realized she would have to produce an heir to take her father’s place. She was certain Sean wouldn’t have given up his name, so she had let him go. Nancy suspected he still cared, but was married some six years now. He was a very honorable, and even if she approached him, he would turn her down.

Elias Selvaggio, on the other hand, had been plying for her attention for years. One of her co-directors, he was very Italian American and around ten years her senior. Elias was extremely handsome, but his aggressive and flirtatious attitude, combined with his reputation as a flamboyant playboy, lessened that appeal.

She pressed her key card to elevator, deciding how she wanted this to happen.

Elias stood naked, admiring the three lines he constructed as his companions exited the bathroom, naked as well. The girls, a pale brunette with striking blue eyes and a tan short haired blond with dark brown eyes, came as he waved them over.

“Dessert is served!” he said, set the tray down, and snorted a line. Squinting, he felt his pupils dilate just before the numbness hit his tongue. He could feel his heart beat in his hands. A moment later, he relaxed with a feeling of cool fresh air washing over you on a muggy day.

‘Why stray from what you know works’, Elias had been quoted saying. Which was true for his taste in women as both girls were thin framed but busty. Smacking the brunette on the ass, he climbed onto the bed and flipped onto his back.

After their lines, the girls climbed up and started to pleasure him. Just as he was getting into it, his mobile rang. The blond stopped and looked up.

“Keep going.” He waved to her as he flipped the phone open. “Nancy, it’s late. Has someone died?”

She chuckled. “Not that I know of.”

“What can I do for you then, my dear?”

“Are you still in town?”

“I am. Would you like to come by the hotel?”

“No, but I was wondering if you could help me with something at the office.”

“At this hour? You should take some personal time.”

“Oh, this is personal,” she said. There was more than a hint of what he thought might be flirtation in her voice. He glanced at his phone before putting it back to his ear.

“Okay, I’m interested,” he said, sitting up on one elbow. “When and where?”

“The Pacific Conference Room in my building as soon as you can get here.”

He glanced at his watch and then to the girls. “Hmmm, give me thirty minutes.”

“I’ll be waiting,” she said again with the same suggestive inflection.

His mind raced. Nancy had been on his radar since he joined her board of directors. She was more handsome than pretty, but had an amazing rack. A particularly low cut dress she had worn to a gala was burned forever in his memory.

Elias wasn’t sure of what she intended, but her word choices and tone made his curiosity run wild. Perhaps his years of advances had paid off.

“Finish me up quick,” he said to the girls. “You can have the night off after this.”

Elias stepped off the elevator and made his way toward the conference room. The ceiling auxiliary lights fading on and then off again as he passed under them. There were no lights on when he entered the conference room. San Ranola’s night time glow silhouetted Nancy against the wall of windows as she overlooked the city. He walked over and stood next to her, admiring the view for a moment.

“I’ve always loved this city at night,” she said, turning to him. Her blouse was unbuttoned enough to reveal a delicious amount of cleavage straining to escape her bra.

“It’s, exquisite,” he said with an enormous grin, eyes locked on her tits.

“Thank you for coming on such brief notice,” she said as she turned and strolled around the conference table, tracing her finger along the curve of the wood.

“You needed my help with something?” Elias asked, watching her almost knee-length skirt sway above shapely calves as he followed her. She stopped and leaned back on the table and crossed one leg over the other. He stopped in front of her, staring at her long legs for a moment before looking up to see her watching him.

“I do.” She smiled and pushed herself up to sit on the table. “Have you figured out what it is I need?” she asked, parting her legs, her skirt falling between her thighs.

“I think I might,” he said, licking his lips as he stepped forward and traced his fingers over her knees. She sat forward and undid the buttons on his shirt.

His curiosity got the better of him. “Though, I’m curious. What’s caused your change of heart?” he asked as she opened his shirt and ran her fingers up his broad chest.

“After all this time,” she said, dragging her nails down his soft stomach. “I didn’t think you’d care.” His breathing quickened, he grabbed her knees and leaned forward to kiss her. Her finger over his lips stopped him. “There are rules to this.”

“I’m listening.”

“This stays between us,” she said, her eyes locked onto him with that serious look she got when negotiating. “No one else knows or is involved. No public displays, no hinting that anything could be happening. Outside of this,” she said and waved her hand between them, “Life goes on as normal.”

“Sounds like a fun game.”

Nancy reached into the waistband of her skirt and pulled out a condom. “And we use protection.”

He took it and shook his head with a laugh. “My dear, after my second wife, I took myself out of the gene pool. I can’t get you pregnant.”

He placing the condom on the table but her stare didn’t change. “I’m aware, but I’m more concerned with your numerous... girlfriends,” she said, making his eyebrows shoot up. Elias smiled, impressed she knew of his extracurricular activities.

“I’m clean, I assure you.”

“Non-negotiable,” she said and pulled her blouse out of her skirt. She grinned up to him as she undid the remaining buttons. His breath caught in his throat when she let the blouse fall away and leaned back on her hands. He watched as they rose and fell against her chest when she took a deep breath.

Even contained in the bra, her tits were magnificent. They looked so full and soft. He wondered how heavy they were and could just make out her nipples through the lace. She held up the condom, breaking his concentration.

“Do we have terms?” she asked with a sly smile. Elias blinked, barely pulling his gaze from her breasts.

“We do,” he said, wrapping his hands under her knees and pulled her to him at the edge of the table.

Elias staggered back, sucking ragged breaths in as he fell back in the chair. “That was… worth the wait.”

Nancy laughed as she turned and stretched on her tip toes, hands going up over her head. She exhaled, releasing the stretch, and looked around for her bra. Elias admired her from the chair before he pushed himself up and walked over to the trash can to remove the condom.

“The landing strip was a nice touch.”

Nancy smiled as she picked her bra off the floor. “I thought so.”

“So, what now?” Elias said as she pulled her blouse to her on the table.

She glanced to him as she put her arms through the bra straps. “You’ll go back to your hotel and I’m going to my office to clean up.”

“No,” Elias laughed. “I mean, was this a one time thing or… ” he said, walking around the table to grab his pants and briefs before he sat to put them on. Nancy glanced at him before looking at her blouse as she buttoned and tucked it into her skirt.

“This could happen again,” she said as she walked past him, looking under the table for her shoes. He grabbed her wrist as she passed by.

“Come back to my room tonight. We could have more fun,” he said with a grin. Nancy glanced at him with one eyebrow up before looking to his hand holding her wrist. He let her go.

“The other board members are in the same hotel as you,” she said as she continued her search, rounding the table until she found her shoes.

“Patrick and Ingrid leave tomorrow morning. Matieus flies out tomorrow afternoon,” he said, buckling his belt as he stood.

She sat, putting her shoes on. “Yes, as do you.”

“I’m thinking I might cancel my flight and stay in town for a few days. See the sights,” he said, pulling his shirt on but leaving it unbuttoned. She looked up at him with that predatory smile as she fastened a strap. “Let me take you to lunch tomorrow.”

“I have a standing lunch date with Matieus,” she said as she stood to face him.

“Dinner then.”

She ran her finger down his chest before tilting her head to the side. “Maybe.”

Turning, she walked around the table to her spot where she opened a drawer. She pulled out a pair of underwear, wrapped them around her wrist and grabbed a key card. Elias followed her out before looking back at the table with a chuckle.

They exited the conference room, Elias buttoning his shirt as he watched Nancy walk in front of him to the elevators. She hit both up and down buttons before she took her hair out of the pony tail and ran her fingers through it. When the down elevator arrived, Elias held out his hotel key card to Nancy.

“What’s this?”

“For once the others are gone.” he smiled. She tilted her head up, examining him for a moment before she took the card and tucked it in the band of her skirt. Elias stepped in the elevator and turned to face her. “Did you mean for us to have sex in Ingrid’s spot?”

She smiled. “Good night Elias.”
