《In Search of a Protagonist》04 - House

After walking for a while we arrive at an area in which the buildings are all equal. The squads start to disperse and they enter one house each. Adel follows suits, she silently turns to the right and enters a house, we obviously follow.
Once inside, there is another surprise. This is an extremely cozy normal place, with normal furniture for a normal living room… it was a surprise because I expected something… more magical.
Everything seems to be carved out of wood. No TV tho. The children are curiously, almost a bit relaxed, looking around, but still in line quietly following out dear scary tutor.
"Hey" Just like that Adel manages to scare the shit of all of us. All children are with the most straight backs one can get ,and looking with every bit of attention they can muster to her, me too, if I had a back I would be just like that.
She sure knows how to kill a vibe, you can't just walk in silence for so long and out of nowhere, precisely when we are all distracted with the new sight, say something and expect us to not get shocked… It was funny tho..
"You don't need to be that scared, and you can stop following me now... and sit there", she points to a table with 8 chairs around it. She did not say in what order we should sit, will she get mad and 'recycle' someone if we get this wrong? How can I get this confused by something so simple?
Not sharing my doubts, Zwei decides to just sit in a random chair, and the rest follows. I'll assume it was the right choice since Adel is not mad, nor saying anything against these actions. She proceeds to sit with us, and after adjusting and making herself comfortable in the simple chair she starts talking again.
"So… let's start again shall we? I'm not a mad person that likes to recycle children ok? It is, however, a necessary step into your formation. Once newborns experience fear of the unknown and understand what it means to be recycled or killed, which, by the way are different things, I'll explain later, they start their life in a better fit to the current society. This has been proven with multiple experiments from many generations back."
She stops for a moment, looks at us and notices that her point is not exactly being taken by the children, and I agree. Maybe I'm the only conscience here that is actually understanding what she's saying.
"Whatever, we can come back to this topic once you have a little more understanding of living and all that…" I don't think she said this for the children, it was more of a point to herself.
"Well, this will be your hose for the time being, we have rooms resting, a training floor for… training… I'm just bad at explaining stuff damn… " She said that last part very low, not sure everyone heard that.

"Ahhhmm… I'll just show you, this first floor where we are, we use this to collective talk, rest and for energy maintenance. Follow me again please" she then starts to show the rest of the house and explaining the purpose of each space.
On the second floor there are small rooms for each child, with basically just a bed and a window, luxury right? And there is a basement, and it is a "training room", which is basically an almost entire floor of nothing, just empty space. And finally there is a bathroom, also in the basement, which is a room with 8 showers and one big bathtub, reminds me a little of japanese bath houses that we see in anime all the time, just on a smaller scale.
No toilets were shown, since I cannot see any genitalia whatsoever on any of the children, that are still naked by the way, I'm guessing Efalem do not generate any waste, but hey, that just me guessing according to the situation here, I cannot make any guarantees, I'm as lost as everyone here.
After our tour she told us each to choose a bedroom and sleep, so we did, and I discovered a new limitation of mine. It appears that my super power is not exactly like The Sims that I can see across walls and stuff, once Drei closed the door all I could see was this room, regardless of the zoom I tried to go.
My best theory for now is that I can see what my host can see. Not necessarily what she saw, but what is whiting her ability to see if she were to look. Tho I can probably see more than she because I can change my 'height', but you get the idea right? I'm not omniscient.
My second new finding was that I can keep my conscience and vision even if my host is in an unconscious state, in this case, sleeping. Nothing changed for me once Drei slept.
*
My third and forth discoveries came the next day… one, I CAN in fact sleep, or enter a similar state of mind, in which I'm not aware of anything during that period of time, and another is that I'll 'awake' if Drei does. It was like an alarm clock, but my entire conscience started to 'shake' forcing me to wake up, not a good feeling, I ensure you.
Adel was the one that woke us up and told us to go to the first floor. There are two things that could not go unnoticed...first is that, assuming it is morning right now, and there is a sun in this world, light from the sun comes from the window like normal sunlight through a transparent glass window... but I cannot actually see outside. Yesterday I thought I could not see things after this glass just because it was night and it probably was dark outside, but I guess I was wrong.

Second thing VERY important is the beauty of Adel. She is GORGEOUS! Alluring, charming, stunning, elegant… The night lights are faint and I failed to gouge her true charm. I mean, I did think she, and all the other women I saw, were very beautiful and mysterious, but with actual light I could notice more details, and she is superb!
Adel had her hair loose this morning, adding to her sexuallity, with few strands of her red hair falling in her chest, her bosom hidden by a thin white loose front dress, her back totally exposed. It was a waist high slit dress, showing her legs and only covering the bare minimum. She has a thin perfect well defined abdomen, strong arms and legs, light red-ish skin and bare feet. She is the perfect definition of sexy right now, at least for me, I'm well aware that sexy depends on the viewer, but she is sexy nonetheless, trust me.
I got myself so immersed in admiring Adel that I forgot we needed to go meet the rest of the children, lucky me I'm not the one controlling Drei, otherwise I would probably be dead by staring too much. Anyways, Drei was already on the first floor when I came to myself, there I found Einer, Vier and Zwei, not long after Funf and Adel came down, once she saw that everyone was here she greeted us, like… in a super normal way.
"Good morning" that's all… super normal right? I'm not sure how to react to that… and neither are the children, since everyone was just there looking at her waiting for… something, a question to be answered, or a command…anything at all more… brutal maybe?
"You return a 'good morning' greeting with 'good morning'... lets try again… Good morning"
"Good morning" They answered in a not so unison way, but I'm sure it is ok given the unexpected situation, probably.
"Let's sit down, I'll explain the first most important thing for us to do in the morning in order to sustain this life of ours"
"??" No one really got the meaning of what she said, but they obeyed anyway and now we are all sitting down like a big happy family that we are not.
"There are all kinds of existences in this world of ours, each may nourish themselves in different and unique ways, some unlucky beasts need to actively ingest food for example. We are far superior to those brutes, needing only to purify ourselves and absorb pure mana from Mother periodically, preferably daily, we also need to provide for Mother so she can grant us pure untainted mana, but that's not for you to worry for now. Efalem are pure superior beings that survive on mana exclusively. Because you are still undeveloped you need very low mana to maintain your body, but it will gradually increase as you grow." Isn't that too complicated for newborn dear Adel? Well, you did say that you were terrible at explaining things…
"Basically you need to replenish your mana daily otherwise you die, I'll teach you how to do that now" You should have started with that, so much easier…
"You see this blue stone in front of you?"
"Yes!"
"This is a very special stone, we call it Seontto, this one was made to be part of the table, semi-automatic and have several restrictions, all to allow beginners like you to learn how to use mana faster, but do not be mistaken, even if it restricted and only beginners material, it is still part of Mother, we can connect directly to her using Seontto and exchange mana thus we need to show maximum respect when using ok?"
"Yes!"
"Ok, put both of your hands in the Seontto in front of you." They quietly moved their hands and copied Adel
"Now, you will close your eyes and focus on yourselves only, I'll activate your Seontto for you, and you will start to sense your mana being pulled and pushed from you, focus only on this feeling, this is mana and eventually you will be able to control it." She did something and all Seonttos started to glow at once, even the ones that had no one touching it.
Once the stones started to glow the "mana exchange" started to happen. It is a very unique feeling, the closest thing to this feeling is breathing. I can feel something going in and out of Drei, it is a pleasant feeling, incredibly so, I can easily get addicted to this. As time passes the interval between each 'breath' increases, but I can feel more mana in each interaction."
After an unknown amount of time… I also got immersed in the feeling and forgot to pay attention to anything else ok? But the important thing is that Drei's body feels a bit lighter and stronger than before, and I also feel refreshed, like drinking a very cold limonate after a run in the park on a hot summer.
Also important, the mana breath is stopping, and I'm starting to feel like I'm drowning. Drei struggles to keep 'breathing' but she's failing. I look at Adel and the others, and I notice that every child is struggling the same way as Drei, but Adel looks relaxed and… she is smiling? She is making a villain face right now… not cool Adel.
Just as I thought that, she removes her hands from the table and all Seonttos 'turns off', stops glowing and the children open their eyes in absolute panic, a minute later they all faint face first on the table.

She must determine how she got there and how to get back to where she came from. This world is much bigger than my other two novels and I'm not giving up on it, but simply having to put her on ice.
