《Mountain's folly》13. Hair raising.

First we had to attend several meetings. Meeting up with the several senior members of our sect and get a general lay of the land.
The only reason they took us any bit seriously was because of Yurts presence. Due to him they let us take part in actions that would win us a little more prestige. Which was a good start in the short term, rather than just some backward protection racket on the back lines, so getting a chance for actual combat was the perfect first step.
We were set up with some basic combat gear, not something that would be really helpful, but would help take a few strikes from a basic foundation building cultivator, so it would help with the weaker members for Ben Ji, Yurt and I they were basically useless. A hit from us would completely rip through it all of it in seconds. So a fight at our level this level of protection would be basically useless.
Still it added a sense of valor to our appearance. Appearances mattered. That was the important thing.
A proper appearance was one of the vitally important additions to a proper army. Even a small element of the army, even the basic of equipment should be enough to give pause to some of the weaker members of the sect.
Moving out towards our stationed area, the small airships bringing us a little too close together for the comfort of most of the team.
They tried to pull away from Yurt and I which was lucky enough, I didn't want to have to squeeze against people I didn't know. The military ships were very basic and not very comfortable at all, still it got us to the area where the Doom hair sect was most active.
It would take a few hours of planning before we would take any further steps.

"fuck that, we don't need to plan anything, we just have to take the hurt to them, there is no mess there, it is very simple. We go kill them."
Bin ji was not so appreciative of Yurts nonchalance towards the mass slaughter that was about to take place.
"We need to have a proper set up, without it we are just sitting ducks for the demon hair sect to kill of at their own pace, that is not what we came here for. We are all planning on coming back alive"
Yurts glare was all the response Ben ji needed for her grand ideas.
"Byren what is your take towards this all, what would be your play."
Luckily it was refreshingly simple warfare for righteous cultivators compared to some of the tactics I had to pull off as a demonic sect member. We just had to set up a trap for the enemies, even if it was as obvious as all the world, they would still take it for the chance it represented. There rewards systems were a little different and had nothing to do with survival rates of the members, unlike our conditions of victory which unfortunately required all members to arrive for the total reward.
"We don't need any major tactics with these demon hair scum, we make our presences known and they will attack, its as simple as that. We just need to have a proper defensive setup, but with Yurt in the lead I don't think we will have any issues."
That seemed to calm a lot of the newer cultivators, those who had never been in a fight but were just joining in to gain some prestige from Bin Ji.
While Bin ji had seen combat it was clear that this type of warfare was new to hear, allowing me a further opportunity to gain control.

Its far easier to influence a chaotic situation compared to an orderly one after all. There is no triumph and great tales told of my deeds, if there is no conflict.
If I had to make that conflict happen then so be it.
With a nod from Bin ji we began to move towards our outpost, we had been given an area slightly away from the defacto front-lines, but there would still be some weaker cultivators lying about trying to pick out some mortals and weak cultivators for rituals.
So it was a great area to slowly build up experience and a healthy death count with the points and rewards that went with it.
Arriving in the Outpost, that had been unmanned for some time, the arrays and formations the only things keeping from outside interference, even still we couldn't be sure that the whole outpost was clear of rogue elements.
So we were on guard from the get go. At least some of us were.
Ben Ji's sister seemed nonchalant about it all, as well as a few of the weaker cultivators, they had visions of victory on their mind, which really wouldn't mesh well with the true views in war.
Still their naivety was quite while it lasted.
The top floor and landing pad of the outpost was immediately cleared by me and Yurt, it wasn't a large space so it was quick to be done.
The next two floors were a similar pattern the arrays and supplies were untouched for the past month. There was no sign of movement.
That was until I got to the third floor. I knew immediately something was wrong.
Before I could communicate with the rest of the team I had already created a barrier between the floors. Yurt and I on one side, the others safe on the stairs.
That did leave me open to the attack, but it was so weak that I shouldn't have worried.
The foundation level demonic members were weak individually.
As they slowly emerged from their hiding spots that much was clear.
It was the array and the form that they were getting in that got me a little worried.
If completed they would have the strength of a core formation cultivator throught he use of a hair golem that was slowly raising up from the floor, twelve cultivators as batteries for it.
That had to be taken down quickly.

8 389Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.

8 177Dragon Ball, A True Coherent Fan-Fic
Author: So I was writing and erasing every time I had a chapter for my other story, I felt it had something missing. So I decided to practice by doing a Fan Fic after reading some of them. Some of them almost made puke of how much they made me cringe. Now I'll make it justice my doing one. I don't have to create too deep of lore. I can just work around what's already there and fix some things I hated in the original work. Vegito being retcon. Launch being lost in limbo. No love for Tien Shinhan. Synopsis: I died and reincarnated in the Dragon Ball universe. This is how everything went down after was reborn.
