《Nameless System V 1.00.008》Chapter 1.9

One thing that I learned; being chased was nothing like the movies. The stars look heroic, sexy and in command of the situation. The reality was far removed from that pretty version of running to save your skin. I had no time to look back or even checked the others.
"Run! Run! Run! Run!" I bolted down the rocky path like an Olympic champion at the start gun.
"What is that thing?!" Said Hudson. Seemed like they could see that thing right now, Detect Poisons wasn't showed anything on the air either.
"Who cares! run for your life!!" Karl's long legs whipped back and forth like a cheetah racing through verdant meadows.
"Gahahahahaha!!!!" I'd seen it on the cartoons when someone moved so fast all they left was a trail of dust with their spinning legs? Well, that was how Herman ran.
We ran like the Scooby gang, though this time there was no reality breaking rules nor tricking the monster away. When we climbed a mount we slowed down if it the slope we had a hard time to keep our balance.
With each step, a jarring pain shot my knee as my heart beat frantically and breath came in small spurts. Behind me, I could hear the rumbling sound of the ground became louder, mud smeared on my sweaty back as sweat dripped from my face.
"S...Split up!" Said Hudson.
What?!! Why are you suggesting that? Does he never watch a horror movie? at least if we stick together we will not die alone you dumbass!!!!
There was a saying 'Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere.' and yes this was true. While I was worrying and protesting inside my mind, the other three already split up, Hudson and Karl went to the left, Herman to the right.

If this was a scooby doo cartoon, then I was Shaggy, out of its four targets it chose me. Why don't you go to the left side?! there are two people on that side! I thought.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." I yelled aloud, throwing myself forward with my lungs and heart were pumping, but the air didn't seem to be enough as I sprinted forward.
"Good job! Keep running kiddo! Don't stop!" A faint shout echoed through the air followed by a thunderous sound that rang out from the far.
"How thick is its skin?!"
"Stop complaining Hudson! c'mon, keep shooting!"
It was only for an instant, but I turned my head when I heard them shouting like and simultaneously saw the thing for clearly this time. Its pale pink tube-shaped segmented body, arrows stuck and small holes produced on its body, moving by waves of contraction and expansion on its muscles that swept the ground; with tentacles squirming out from its mouth.
Hell no!! I've seen enough porn to know where this will be going. I thought while following my tingling sensation, evading each one of its tentacles. "Ice shards!" My target was the ground in front of me while utilizing its slight delay from the creation process, shards of ice rained down in their reversed cone-shaped arc, constructed fragments of ice shortly after I passed through that point.
I imagined that it would be slowing its down but life chose to give me a lemon. Taking a quote from my favorite game 'It's not very effective...' It ignored my improvised caltrops and kept whipping its body closer, to make things worse the tingling sensation was gone from my body.
It was funny that I always thought that the last 5 minutes of class always felt like forever, and this time 5 minutes flew in an instant.

Where will it attack? left? up? aargh, fuck this shit! My legs were hunched, ready to leap. When I leaped I let out a yell "Stag's Leap!" In mid-air sudden acceleration propelled me eleven meters away, barely manage to evade the tentacles. My body crashed down onto the ground squashed Dopinder's camera, mechanical parts scattered around, green liquid leaked out from inside of my bag. Seriously?! this fucking worm.
Raising my body back to the ground, I felt I forgot about something important, I couldn't shake an eerie feeling that been pent up inside my body.
"Hang on kiddo!!" Herman yelled, he took a grenade from his leather bag, pulled its pin and threw it to the front. As it exploded, everyone ducked down but there was no big explosion like the one I saw on the action movie, only black smoke and shrapnel flew onto its body.
"That's it. Eat this shit you fucking worm!!" Shouted Herman while he jumped after the explosion was over. Though I could tell that the damage created wasn't that big, the shrapnel wasn't stuck deep enough to make a fatal wound but it was enough to make the worm change its direction toward him.
......
"Ah!!!!" I looked at Herman and shouted "You are one crazy geezer. Give me your bag!"
"Oh?!" As soon as Herman noticed that the worm switched its target, he threw the bag to me and ran while laughing. "Gahahahaha!!!!"
"Herman! Crap! Hudson back me up!" Yelled Karl.
As the worm aggro was directed to them, I ran and grabbed the leather bag that lay on the ground then I took something out of my bag. "Found it! how can I forget about this thing!" I took off the camera strap and bound it into the pesticide sprayer can; misty fog continuously spraying out from the can mouth.
"Ice shards!!" As eleven shards of ice raining the worm body, even though the damage was insignificant it changed its target once again. Oh, no I ain't planning to run away this time as soon as I was sure the worm was close enough.
"Good! Suck on this!!" I pulled the pin at the first second I threw the pesticide into the grenade bag and tied it back.
"Flying Projectiles!" Two seconds after I pulled the pin I threw it, the target was the worm mouth. It opened its mouth and tentacles squirming out, readied to pierce my body down.
At the third second, the bag was propelled into its mouth.
On the fourth second an explosion followed by dark purple smoke came out from the worm body, its tentacles dropped down. It wildly whipped its body back and forth, "Hah!" I read it once on the news that pesticides could harm the worm, it wasn't too clear at first but after I thought this clearly that thing looked like a big worm. Though I didn't how potent my Pesticides but considering the worm reaction, I guess this was potent enough to kill it.
As the worm stopped whipping, my phone received a text message.

Domain of Man
Isolation is terrible. To feel isolated with your fellow man around you is worse. What if you were dumped in some backwards cave somewhere, completely nude, maybe with your family, or even completely alone? The age of pioneers, heroes, generals, and geniuses is long gone. Humankind has become numb to the world around it because of how paltry everything else is compared to the glory of its history, the sheer volume of their accomplishments, and the sum of its innovations. You can interact with people across the world, travel miles in mere hours, and never prepare your own food or shelter, and it's all accessible to even the normalest of individuals. Artificial intelligence is within arms reach in devices and computers and even houses, and neural interfaces aren't exclusive to the rich and powerful at this point. Someone far in the distance took notice of Earth, saw the multitude of hairless apes swarming its surface. That one went down the checklist to see if humanity had, in fact, beaten the 'game' of Life. Sure enough, they had gone above and beyond the requirements, but nobody had been watching. 'Why might that be?', that one wondered. Protocol was protocol, though, no matter how strange the situation was. They pulled the lever, they flipped the switch. It's time for New Game +. ???
