Chapter 55: I made it shameful

Seeing that Lu Chen is ignoring them, the group of girls knew they had spoken rashly. They have thought that Lu Chen is angry at them for calling him his nickname. They couldn't allow themselves to be on this prince's ignoring list. They immediately try to appease Lu Chen,

“Student Lu, we didn’t really mean anything by calling you mophead Lu!”

“It was all because of Zhang Jian saying that you were a that we didn’t believe that it was you.”

“Yeah, it was all because of Zhang Jian that we have gotten confused if you were a transfer student or not!”

Like a pack of consorts that have done wrong, each one had given their excuses to the aloof emperor. Yet, the emperor continues to act aloof. Well, there is one person that is objecting to their comments.

Alright, I know that I messed up in tell you guys that Lu Chen was a transfer student. But how the hell is it my fault that you guys didn’t believe his words?! Zhang Jian couldn’t understand how he is being blamed for something that he didn’t even do.

Lu Chen didn't look at them at all. He continues to read his book. But after a few seconds, Lu Chen turns his head at them. The girls thought that Lu Chen would accept their excuses, but Lu Chen said something else to them,

“Do you guys think I’m angry at you for calling me my nickname?”

The girls looked at each other, and then they nod at him. Lu Chen starts to chuckle a bit,

“To be honest, I felt very shameful about having this nickname. It has caused me so many problems throughout my school life: being picked on, degraded by the whole school, and look down on by my peers. The name plus the amount of bullying would make anybody crack. Even I almost crack at some moments.”

The amount of stress that Lu Chen felt with pursuing Liu Fei Fei was immeasurable. With the added amount of bullying because of his nickname, he could still remember crying at night at one point from how stressed out he became.

As Lu Chen said his piece, it was like a perfect picture being ripped to shreds. Everyone in the classroom realizes that they had taken it too far with the bullying and teasing of Lu Chen. Some of them start to look down at the ground, blushing in shame.

Lu Chen continues, “But yet, I realize an epiphany from all of that teasing and bullying. That from all of that shaming, it had made me into the person that I am today.”

In his previous life, Lu Chen had thought about the nickname he had in high school. It was something of a dark past to Lu Chen and continues to haunt him. Yet, Lu Chen realized the nickname he despised the most had shaped him into the person he is today.

“The reason why the name was shameful was that I made it shameful. But from all of that shame, I can still stand up tall with pride. I can withstand any ridicule or disgust coming towards me.”

The reason why Lu Chen had never given up on the crumbling Lu corporation or Liu Fei Fei was due to the stubbornness and unyielding drive he gained. Lu Chen's stubborn drive was formed where he had this thought that: If he had given up on Liu Fei Fei or the Lu Corporation, it would be like agreeing to what all of those people had said to him in school.

Realizing it now, I’m a really simple-minded person, aren’t I? Lu Chen couldn’t help but shake his head at how such child-like teasing had made him into such a simple person. But he still couldn’t help but think that his nickname was a blessing behind a disguise.
