Chapter 9: Finally He Gets it
Seeing that Lu Chen finally remembers what happened, Zhang Jian sighs, “Dude, you had me worrying about you all day long when you didn’t come back to class.”
Lu Chen remembers that he went back to the arcade. He was too embarrassed and humiliated to go back to her class.
“Seriously, why do you even like that vixen?” Zhang Jian is confused in no matter how much time Liu Fei Fei destroys Lu Chen’s dignity and pride, Lu Chen continues to walk back to her like a puppy to its master.
Lu Chen shrugs his shoulders, “ I don't even remember why I even loved her as well.” With all the failed attempts, plus more in counting from his older self, he lost any spark that drives him to love her.
Zhang Jian sighs at how calm Lu Chen was acting as he said earnestly to him, ” Lu Chen. If you consider me as your brother, stop trying to ask Liu Fe Fei out. She's just killing you without batting an eye.”It was too heartbreaking to see his friend’s feelings being ripped apart like that.
Liu Fei Fei doesn’t even see Lu Chen as a human. Can’t you see that? Zhang Jian grits his teeth as he knew that Lu Chen was too overly in love with Liu Fei Fei to even realize, and would refuse-
Alright, I will stop pursuing Liu Fei Fei.” Lu Chen said indifferently.
What did he say? Zhang Jian was about to finish what he heard what Lu Chen said. His eyes turned wide as he couldn’t believe what he was hearing, “Brother Chen, can you please repeat that?”
“I will give up on Liu Fei Fei.” Lu Chen said again.
“Really!” Zhang Jian didn’t think that his best friend would give up this easily and wanted to know why, “Did yesterday really hit you that hard?” The incident was a lot deadlier than any other he received.

But Lu Chen shook his head, “No, it’s not that. I’ve been trying to get Liu Fei Fei’s attention for the past few years now. What has that gotten to? Nothing, It won’t do me any good to keep going on like this.”
While Lu Chen continues to explain, he didn’t realize Zhang Jian was bursting into tears.
Finally, he gets it. Zhang Jian wanted Lu Chen to realize this for so long, he had spent so much time on that vixen, and now he realizes it wasn’t worth it.
“Zhang Jian, why are you crying?” Lu Chen was confused as to why his friend was bawling his eyes out.
Wiping his tears away, Zhang Jian said, “Nothing man, just got dusk in there,” and throws his arms around Lu Chen’s shoulder, “ Well, don’t worry, brother Chen. I’ll definitely introduce you to so many girls better than Liu Fei Fei.”
He had already prepared a list of different girls he thought had a better style and personality for his best friend to pursue.
Zhang Jian was going to show him the list, but Lu Chen rejects his idea, “ I don’t want to date any girls right now.”
Dating right now is too annoying and tedious.
Pursuing Liu Fei Fei for so long already burned any energy he had left in dating other girls. Right now, his main priority was to protect his family.
“But Brother Chen, you can’t just give up just because of one girl. The girls that I chose for you are definitely waifu material. Here take a -” Zhang Jian was about to pull out his phone when the class bell rang again, and the teacher came walking in.

Path of the Ancients
When humans with the ability to control the fundamental particles of the universe with their minds were first discovered, the age of space travel began in earnest. Relativistic travel faster than the speed of light became possible and humanity moved out into the stars. When it was discovered that these Mages could be turned into effective weapons, humanity turned back to its oldest pastime of war. Hundreds of years later as humanity was on the brink of self-destruction, with its taste for war finally beginning to wane, a new organization was created. The Conclave was formed to regulate all Mage’s within the human colonies. While the colonies maintained their independence, the Conclave’s control over access to interstellar travel made them the de facto power amongst humanity. As the old saying goes, ‘Power Corrupts’, and many people were unhappy with the way the Conclave had been leveraging its authority, not the least of which were the Mages they controlled. One unregistered illegal Mage by the name of Tyrial had made it his life's mission to dismantle the Conclave at any cost. After spending decades working towards his goals alone, he realized he would need the aid of willing allies in his crusade. Tyrial would need all the help he could get learning to work with others, dealing with his own dark past, and handling unfamiliar feelings of romantic interest. Content Warning Note: They are there to cover my behind. I honestly hesitated to put them there at all but I figured better safe than sorry. Gore in particular barely applies and the sexual content amounts to light Cinemax style at best. But, at least now you can’t say I didn’t warn you. Witness the dawn of an era. 🧙🧙🧙 This is a story I'd written a few years back, and I figured it's a waste to just let it sit around. Most of it is already written, but I'm going through the chapters and editing the shit out of them. This story is NOT a Lit-RPG, so no blue screens or anything of the sort. It is just fast-paced fiction with slight cultivation elements. Updates are bi-daily (so every 2 days), and chapters are 1500-3000 words. As always, feedback is more than welcome. Why are you still reading the synopsis? You have already decided. Go ahead, give this story a shot. It's worth it.
