Swish!
As the fireball fell, a faint restriction light suddenly emerged, blocking it.
Seeing that, the gloomy man was not surprised but delighted. He murmured to himself, "It's just a low-level restriction talisman. It seems that this person is in a rather urgent situation. He hurriedly set up the restriction talisman and thought no one had come, so he began to go into a closed-door cultivation to break through the bottleneck. Tsk tsk, I didn't expect that I’d benefit from this."
Excitement flashed across the man's eyes. Knowing that things should not be delayed, he threw the gourd away. After the gourd left his hand, it spun in the air. The front entrance suddenly opened, and a golden light burst out from it, instantly landing on the restriction spell of the hole.
Bang!
A muffled sound was heard. The restriction formed by several restriction talismans flickered and the light on them dimmed instantly.
Seeing that, the gloomy man threw out several spells with an expressionless face. Instantly, the gourd rotated again, and two rays of golden light shot out from within and fell down with a loud bang.
Bang!
The two rays of golden light fell down at the same time. The restriction defended itself against them before it was completely broken. The golden light landed on the ground, creating two deep holes and causing dust to rise.
Joy flashed across the gloomy man's eyes. He reached out and held the gourd in his hand, and then rushed into the cave.
However, right at this moment, a clear sound of footsteps suddenly rang out from the dust-filled stone cave, causing his face to suddenly turn stiff. Within his gaze, a young man dressed in green slowly walked out. His pitch-black, star-like eyes fell on this man. Although he did not speak, the strong aura slowly rising from within his body had already caused the gloomy man's face to turn white and his two legs to tremble.
"Senior... I didn't mean to disturb you. There was some misunderstanding. Please let me explain." A fawning look appeared on the gloomy man's face as he hurriedly cupped his hands together. However, he did not put away the magic weapon. He stared intently at Shiao Chen. If there was any abnormality, he would immediately turn around and flee.

"If you dare to move, I will kill you just by flipping my hand." Shiao Chen sneered slightly, "But if you can answer my questions honestly, I'll let you go."
After he heard that, the gloomy man's face stiffened, and his eyes flashed with panic. He asked in a low voice, "Do you mean what you said? If you eat your words after I do that, there won’t be anything for me to do."
"You don’t have a choice. Answer my questions and you’ll have a chance to survive. But if you don't say anything, you will definitely die!" Shiao Chen's eyes flashed as he sneered.
"Alright, senior, please ask!" The gloomy man gritted his teeth and said in a deep voice.
"Fine." Shiao Chen was expressionless, as if he had already known the answer, "Has something big happened in the Cultivation World of the Beihua State recently?"
"Yes!" A few days ago, all members of the Luoyun Valley suddenly came out, and then rushed back. And it suddenly issued an ultimatum to the Flaming Sect. If they failed to hand its member Shiao Chen over, they would destroy the Flaming Sect at all costs." The gloomy man didn't dare to play any tricks and answered honestly.
Shiao Chen was slightly moved, and he guessed what might have happened. That day, Shiao Lin went to get help and noticed some clues from the fight, so he aimed at the Flaming Sect. Besides, the Soul jade slip he left in the Luoyun Valley was not broken, so Qingyun Taoist and others thought it had fallen into the hands of the Flaming Sect. Thinking that Qingyun Taoist and Alchemy Taoist didn't hesitate to start a war with the Flaming Sect for his safety, Shiao Chen felt grateful in his heart. He hurriedly asked, "How is it going now? Have they started fighting?"
"Not yet. There are still three days left before the deadline." Seeing that Shiao Chen looked anxious, the gloomy man didn't dare to delay. He hurriedly replied, "The Chief Master of the Luoyun Valley Qingyun Taoist proclaimed that if the Flaming Sect doesn't hand Shiao Chen over before noon three days later, both parties will have a fight to the death."

"Three days." Shiao Chen muttered in a low voice, and then grimness appeared on the corner of his mouth, "It should be enough for me to make a big gift for him."
"Do you have anything else to ask? If you don't, I will leave now." Seeing Shiao Chen's expressionless face, the gloomy man couldn't help feeling upset and stealthily retreated several steps.
Hearing that, Shiao Chen waved his hand. The man felt that he was pardoned. With the flash of the light shield on his body, he quickly flew away.
"Cough, cough… " After flying for just dozens of meters, the gloomy man looked at the Bone Palm passing through his chest. Before the joy in his eyes could spread, the life force in his body quickly disappeared.
A red light flashed in the eyes of the Asura Skeleton. It opened its mouth, and a tiny ball of soul light flew out from its body. The ball of light was round and was dim. Fear emerged from it before the ball was swallowed. When the soul entered his body, red threads once again emerged from the skeleton, but in the blink of an eye, it was completely devoured. The red light in the Asura Skeleton's eyes flashed again, becoming even brighter.
Looking at the corpse of the man, Shiao Chen sneered. He stretched out his hand and took down the storage bag on his body. A moment later, he threw a direct disciple identification jade token on the ground, burned the corpse, put the Asura Skeleton away, put down several powerful restrictions at the entrance of the cave and returned to the cave.
With his legs crossed on the stone, Shiao Chen took out several storage bags with his eyes flaming with excitement. He murmured, "As one of the two Gold Core cultivators in the Flaming Sect, the asset of this old fart should not be a disappointment, right?"
Having picked up one of the bags and waved his hand to break its restriction, Shiao Chen's spiritual sense reached into it. He was a little stunned, and then he was ecstatic.
Shiao Chen didn’t know what the old fart had been up to. There were a total of two hundred thousand low-grade spiritual stones and nearly two thousand middle-grade spiritual stones in the storage bag. What he gained from this storage bag alone was far more than what he had possessed. And now, Shiao Chen had four hundred thousand low-grade spiritual stones and more than three thousand middle-grade spiritual stones. With those assets, he could be considered a top practitioner among the Gold Core Cultivators.
After putting away all the spiritual stones, Shiao Chen carefully opened the second storage bag with anticipation.
This storage bag should be specially used for storing magic weapons. There weren't many items, only a dozen and one violet jade box. The Sky Covering Seal and the black net that the old fart had used before were also among the magic weapons. Except for a cone-shaped treasure which Shiao Chen couldn't quite see through, the others were all top-grade spiritual devices. And from their aura, they were probably very powerful. Shiao Chen played with those top-grade spiritual devices one by one, and put away the Sky Covering Seal and the black net after hesitating for a while, leaving the cone-shaped treasure outside.
"From the aura of this object, it is at least at the magic weapon level, but I don't know what level it belongs to. Although I had lost two Dantian Treasures and a protective jade pendant, I had obtained this item to make up for my losses." After carefully inspecting the treasure, Shiao Chen found that there was no restriction on it and there were no signs of it being refined, so he nodded with satisfaction. After hesitating for a moment, he dispelled the idea of refining it immediately and put it aside.

The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).

I can no longer stick to a specific release schedule, so the chapters will be released once the entire arc is done, which implies long hiatus periods between arcs. About the tags: Although there are game elements, there are absolutely not the focus of the story so this isn't exactly a LitRPG.
