Tana’s POV

The moment Tana reached the palace again she completely ignored her fatigue and ran towards her father’s office.

“Father!”,she yelled while forcibly breaking the door open. Tana’s father was behind a large desk stacked with paper work. Or was stacked with paperwork. The papers all went flying along with pieces of the door.

“Oops”

Tana’s father sighed and asked while picking up the papers.

“What is it Tana? Why are you back so soon?”

Tana immediately went from embarrassed to serious.

“I was almost killed in the dungeon?”

“What!? But that shouldn’t have happened! What happened to the guards I sent with you?”

“We were overrun by a monster horde! That information you gave me was almost as useful as a toothpick against a dragon!”

Tana usually wouldn’t have such a large outburst, but just the thought of almost dying is enough to make anyone mad.

“Calm down!”,her father said in a commanding voice, a wave of cold was felt as Tana was being pressured by the presence that her father exposed. Tana took a deep breath and felt herself calm down from the chill.

“Ok”,the king said,”now what was this about a monster horde and bring almost killed?”

“Well, we reached the middle layer of the dungeon and then were rushed by a horde of mushrooms. If I wasn’t able to use fire then we might have gone down, but the kicker to all of this is that we met a deer that was mutated. We were forced to split out focus between the remaining mushrooms while I was dealing with the deer. And then I was shot at by someone we can only assume is an assassin.”

The king looked rather surprised at this.

“A assassin? In the middle layer of the forest? I wonder who would be able to train such a man.”

“It wasn’t a man who attacked me father”

“Oh so was it a woman? They seem to be more dangerous to compensate for their inborn strength weakness.”

“It wasn’t a woman either.”

“Oh? Then what was it? Don’t tell me it was a child”,the king said with wrinkles forming on his face. He detested the use of children in unsavory business’. He would have even abolished slavery if it wasn’t for slavery being an integral part of the kingdom. Tana gave a nod of confirmation.

“Damn!”,he yelled while slamming his fist on the table, cracking it slightly while sending the papers he had just placed back on his desk to go flying again.

“I’ll speed up my plans then. I’ll cause change in this kingdom!”,he said angrily.

“Plans? What plans?”,Tana asked thoroughly confused.

“Tana. I haven’t told you this yet. But. I’m going to use the summoning circle to bring forth a hero that can change this kingdom. No. This world!”,the king said with determination in his eyes.

“Hero?!”,Tana exclaimed,”But wasn’t the last one we summoned a century ago? The circle shouldn’t be able to operate for another thousand years.”

“Yes”,the king confirmed,”it was suppose to take another century to be useable, but I researched it extensively with some royal mages in my younger days. We discovered that the circle’s composition was made from several rare ingredients that were actually obtainable in this world. So I started recharging the circle with these ingredients. We almost cleaned out the entire royal treasury of its rare materials. If you had managed to capture the Mother’s Tree dungeon we could have used the sap from the mother tree to speed up the process even more. But, the time is close at hand so even a few days to weeks in difference isn’t to much”

“So we are summoning the hero in a few days?”,Tana asked excitedly because ever since she was a child the stories of the hero always fascinated her.

“Yes, my child, we shall summon the hero to cleanse our kingdom.”

“But, what of the demons? Won’t they try to get rid of the hero once they caught wind?”

“No”,the king said while shaking his head,”Both sides human and demon have called a truce. During the Battle of Retaliation where we managed to come back from a losing battle something sinister was released. Both sides have bigger problems to deal with then a old feud from our ancestors.”

“Feud?”,Tana asked, she hadn’t known anything about a feud between the demons and humans. She had always thought that it was because of territorial disputes.

“Yes, feud, our kingdoms a few thousand years ago were once actually good friends. Then something even I don’t know caused both sides to become hated enemies. The reason was lost in history, but scraps of history we managed to gather has been passed from king to king. Since you will succeed the throne, you my daughter, are eligible to know of this.”

“Thank you for trusting in me father”,Tana said while bowing her head slightly.

“This is your right. Now then I believe I have to redo a large amount of paperwork and then get ready for the hero. You may go now Tana”

“Yes”

As Tana walked out of the room stepping over the smashed remains of the door. She started thinking about the thing she didn’t tell her father. That the child after failing to assassinate her returned her to the point where she was teleported from. That the child may have not been an assassin.

Future Hero’s POV

Den Marcs a sixteen year old boy, with wavy black hair and black eyes, was whistling as he walked down to the Virtual Reality Store. He was here to buy a new VR headset along with a game to play. Virtual reality or VR for short was a concept that had been on Earth for over eighty years before the technology was finally perfected. By the time the realism reached 80% almost every household had at least one headset.

Now then back to Den. He was here for the newest version of the VR headset which promoted 100% realism with a brand new experience. He had reserved the headset months before and was excited to get it. Cost him a pretty penny, but to him the headset was going to be worth every penny.

As he walked into the store he noticed a line that would probably take a bit of waiting. Good natured as he was along with his excitement for getting the new headset, he waited in line patiently. After about ten minutes of waiting it was finally his turn. He walked to the cashier and said.

“I’m here for the VR-Full Dive. My name is Den Marcs”

The cashier smiled and replied.

“Let me check the reservation list.”

She pulled up a screen and started scrolling through a couple lists.

“VR-Full Dive… VR-Full Dive… here it is! Let's see, yes, there is a Den Marcs on here. May I see some identification?”,the cashier asked while pulling out a sensor.

“Of course”,Den replied and flashed the watch on his hand across the sensor. The sensor beeped then lit up green.

“Thank you, Mr.Marcs let me get your reservation.”

The cashier walked behind a curtain before returning with a box in her hands. Den grabbed it eagerly and almost hugged the cashier.

“Thank you so much!”

“It is no problem sir. Also this is the game that came with the reservation.”

She handed Den a usb with the words written on its side, Fantasia Online. He took the usb and thanked the cashier again. Then walked outside whistling a even more cheerful tune. Once he reached home he greeted his mother and sister before going to the second floor where his room was located.

He then opened the block to reveal a sleek black looking helmet that looked like a motorcycle helmet. He connected the usb into the slot on the helmet then yelled downstairs that he would be trying out a new game. After getting ready he lied down on bed before slipping the helmet over his head.

The link was activated and he was floating in chamber with a rainbow of colors flashing. Then a screen came up.

Welcome to Fantasi…. Error! Error! Error!

Den was surprised by the errors that popped up.

What?! A game going along with 100% realism is bugged on the character creation screen?

Then another box popped up.

Host has been detected: Host is being summoned to another world via hero summoning...

Standby…

Summoning Successful…

Good Luck Hero! Do good things in this world.

Huh. Is this the game? Seems like a rather cliche storyline. Well might as well play it.

Den felt his body slowly lifting as a white light enveloped his vision and then suddenly jerk downwards as gravity took effect.

“Owww”, he yelped while rubbing his head.

What are the pain sensors set to anyway.

Den looked around after the pain subsided. He was in a rather well maintained room made of stone bricks with a white chalk stone circle around him. Standing in front of him was a teenage girl with red hair who said.

“Welcome Hero to Fantasia!”
