Adventurer’s POV:

"Oi! "C-Ranked" Craig how did it feel to run from wittle bunnies?", shouted a man, he had two beer mugs swigging in his hands as he laughed rambunctiously. Both beer mugs were filled to the brim with drink.

"Shut it!", Craig yelled back, he was also surrounded by several empty tankards of beer. He usually looked rather scary with a buff body that had huge muscles, but now he was just a drunk mess.

"Oh yes the great and heroic Craig",mocked another drunk individual,"pissing his pants while screaming for his mommy"

Be damned to them all. They don't understand what it feels like to see a huge wave of horned rabbits. No warrior could stop that.

Craig looked bitterly back at his adventurers card. It was a sleek card with a blue edged border. He continued staring at the card looking at the writing on it.

Name:Craig Winchester

Rank: C-

Level: 24

Class: Great Swordsman

Occupation:Adventurer

Age:27

Stats

Strength:43(Inborn Strength)

Agility:16

Wisdom:7(-3 Drunk)

Intelligence:6(-4 Drunk)

“Hahaha I am a poor sob aren’t I?”,Craig laughed as if mocking himself, he took another card from his belt and looked at it.

Monster:Horned Rabbit

Threat Level:F+

Level:8-15

Stats

Strength:9

Agility:12

Wisdom:N/A

Intelligence:3

Defence:6

Stamina:15

The thing in his hands was a monster card sold by the Adventurers Guild. See, the guild thought that by quantifying the stats it could better prepare newbies. 10 in every stat was normal for a normal citizen while adventurers had it better depending on how experienced they were.

“All that work to get to rank C and where does it get me? Nowhere! Absolutely nowhere!”,Craig muttered while chugging down another mug filled with beer almost speaking nonsense at this point. He was quite depressed because of the earlier rabbit horde.

“Just my luck! The first time I head into the Mother’s Tree a monster horde. Even better! I made a complete fool of myself out of fear. I don’t deserve this C rank. Why did I even think I could reach S rank! Haha!”

Craig had worked almost five years to reach this point. Going from collecting herbs in F rank to killing kobolds to get to rank C. He had slowly climbed the ladder of the Guilds from F To D To C.

He was finally more confident in himself, but it all went wrong when the rabbit horde attacked.

“Maybe I should give up? Get settled down before I get to old?”

While Craig was contemplating this he heard a female voice say.

“Don’t ever give up! You still have so much to live for!”

He looked around bewildered, he kept swiveling his head looking for the speaker. There were no other females near him. Only the receptionist, but it couldn’t have been her.

I must have had to much to drink. But then again that voice was right. I shouldn’t give up. I can’t give up only after a single setback. I have to keep at it!

Evan’s POV

Evan continued his running until he finally arrived back at the Mother’s Tree. He then slowed as he walked towards his mother who was sitting with her back leaning against the tree.

“You got rid of the problem dear?”,she asked with a smile on her face.

“Yes, the beast has been dispatched mother”

“Awww, I told you not to call me mother. Call me mommy. You’re acting way to mature”,she cooed with a little pout on her face.

“One of us has to be mature here mother. And I’m not seeing the maturity in you at all.”

Evan sighed then lifted the hood off his head then felt the cloak’s weight slowly vanish from his back. Then he reached into his belt pouch and took the green pearl-like object out. Then tossed the pellet towards his mother. She caught the pellet then promptly threw it into her mouth. After swallowing the pellet like ever other pellet that Evan would being back from monster hordes. She raised her hands in the air and stretched while standing up.

“Thank you so much dear! Come here and give your mommy a hug.”

“No mother. I will not give you a hug. We need to first talk about your “brilliant” idea of me babysitting a dragon.”,Evan said with a displeased look on his childish face.

Evan’s mother looked a bit disappointed, but then sighed while lowering her arms again.

“You remember when you said that you wanted playmate?”,she asked.

“You mean when I asked eighty two years ago? When I was just born?”,Evan said sarcastically.

“Well I had to make do ok!”,She replied almost as if that was a satisfactory answer to Evan’s question. Evan groaned and decided to give up.

Any more and she might cry. Then I have to deal with the gathering of every strong monster at the tree.

“Alright let's just drop this subject”

Evan’s mother didn’t reply as if distracted by something.

“Mother?”

She seemed to snap out of it after a couple more seconds.

“Oh! Sorry dear I was listening to someone who was near the entrance of the dungeon. He seemed depressed from the earlier monster horde so I decided to encourage him.”

Evan’s eye started twitching.

“Mother! I told you to stop trying to talk with the adventurers! Remember the last time you talked extensively with someone. You ended up imitating some book that he brought!”

And you still are imitating it.

“But the hero was such a dear… dear.”

“I don’t care if he was a dear or not, but why did you talk to that one particular adventurer?”,Evan asked since as ditzy as his mother could be she should have had a reason.

“Lets just call it motherly instincts”,she replied with a gentle smile on her face. Something about that man made me want to encourage him.

Scratch whatever I thought earlier. My mother is just a complete and utter ditz.
