《Spirit Of The Forest (Dropped)》Prologue: A Dungeon Lecture [New Prologue]

"Now then class quiet down", a teacher said while walking to the podium in front of the classroom
The chatter continued their chatter
"I said now then class quiet down", the teacher repeated again this time with more volume.
The talking continued, but this time someone's bird summon flew into a wall, then promptly exploded into feathers.
"Urgh... Why do I have to give a lecture to these brats", muttered the teacher as he picked a couple bird feathers out of his hair.
"Amr As Vacala", he chanted.
Little blue particles gathered around the man's throat and then were expelled when he yelled.
"NOW THEN CLASS FUCKING QUIET DOWN OR YOU'LL BE USED AS TARGET PRACTICE LATER"
The room went completely silent as everyone turned towards the man standing at the front.
"Good, now that you're all quiet I'll introduce myself. My name is Zain Arclight and I will be your teacher for this school term",Zain continued his speech,"We will be recapping on basic dungeon today then we will go into more detail on a dungeon I have chosen."
"Now then, who can tell me what a dungeon is?"
A female student raised her hand and Zain pointed at her indicating that she could speak.
"Well sir, a dungeon is a high concentration of mana that is emitted by a mana core conductor."
"Correct, now then who can explain what a mana core conductor is?"
Another student raised their hand, Zain pointed again.
"A mana core conductor or more commonly known as a dungeon core is a crystal that gains the ability to create monsters and form treasures.",the student said with a smug look on his face as if he had answered the impossible.
"That is correct, but can you tell me how these monsters and treasures are created?",Zain questioned in a irritated fashion. He hated those kind of people that act smart, but only a bit of knowledge to back it up.

"Well, erm.. that.. uh..",the boy stuttered, the smug smile all but gone.
"Thought so",Zain said then started saying.
"A dungeon forms monsters and treasures by condensing a large amount of mana into a object or animal. A rusty forgotten dagger it finds can become a sharp tool used to slay dragons, while monsters are made from surrounding wildlife being stuffed with mana until they form a mana core."
A student raised his hand wanting to ask a question.
"Yes? What is your question"
"Sir, if dungeons can create these things why can't we?"
"Good question, this is however difficult to answer, since our royal mages have tried infusing mana into a animal, but the result was a bloody explosion. As for the objects infusion... while we can infused mana into weapons and it does make the weapon better. Our weapons are much more brittle thus costing much more to produce."
Zain continued on after answering because the question cut into his lecturing time.
"Next is a monster horde, which is a horde of monsters formed by the dungeons. We don't know why dungeons do this, but have suspicions that it has something to do with thinning the herd and separating the weak from the strong. Although the suspicion doesn't have much substance since most people just run if they spot a monster horde."
He then asked the class,"what is the one dungeon that has more monster horde's than others?"
The same female student from the beginning of class answered.
"The Mother's Tree Dungeon?"
Zain smiled because he was guaranteed at least one person would be able to pass the exams.
"That is correct, the Mother's Tree Dungeon is particular in the point that no one has been able to clear it other than the old hero and that monster hordes are a lot more frequent in the dungeon."

Zain then clapped his hands together and said.
"Alright we are almost out of time so I will allow a couple more questions."
Half the class raised their hands. Zain scanned the room and picked a boy who was wearing glasses.
"What is the frequency rate of the Mother's Tree monster hordes compared to other dungeons?"
Zain thought about the question for a moment before replying.
"Well the Mother's Tree dungeon has a frequency rate of two to three monster hordes per month sometimes more. While other dungeons seems to have a monster horde once per year."
The boy started pondering the answer while Zain scanned the classroom again to pick another hand. He decided to pick the girl who he had pegged with passing the exams. She said a very surprising question.
"Are there spirits in the Mother's Tree dungeon? I heard rumors about it"
Zain had to think about this question for a couple seconds before saying.
"If you are talking spirits as in ghouls and lost souls, then no there are no spirits in the Mother's Tree dungeon since the area is mostly just wildlife and trees. But if you are talking about a spirit as in ethereal body that is still in this plane to protect someone then... yes I think there is a possibility. Not a very high possibility, but still a possibil..."
*RINNNNNNNNNNNNG*
The bell shook Zain out of whatever strange thoughts he was having. He waved his hand dismissing the class. As the students started filing out Zain started thinking about that question and a time during his younger days.

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
