《Of Life and Light》Chapter 55 [Ageless]

"Do you know how long it's been since I was allotted the ability to full stretch out my body?" I inquired whilst slowing my pace to a crawl, "Too long, if I had any guess." This was spoken as my wings flapped once, rocketing my person into the dark expanse of the void above. However, I knew I could not fly too far, else that which was within the space would hurl my body back towards a more stationary position.
My wings, themselves, did not have to flap more than once, by the by, as there was something within them, a dust of some sort, which kept my person aloft. All I needed to perform was a mental thought to move in any direction. In this case, I flew high into the air, then swooped down towards the writhing body of the Human who desperately tried to repair the damage I had done to him moments ago.
"Poor little Human," my voice rumbled throughout the space, "You were damaged by an insignificant amount of my strength, and yet you could not hand such a thing? Pitiful. Simply pitiful.
"Well, no matter," I watched for, but a moment longer as the Human cast some sort of restorative spell upon himself as I called upon the energies within my being. No. I did not drain the essences of those I had stolen, but instead drew on my own strength. For I desired to hear the golden pest below scream.
For which he did, but only after I pointed one of my foreclaws down upon his body. There, I intoned, ">," and watched as a bolt of emerald and crimson lightning fell upon the male's body. Whereupon he did scream a delicious of pain as the energies from within such a spell created pockets of empty flesh throughout his entirety. Of which was immediately filled by his own blood, as it spilt out upon the endarkened ground.
"I," he began slowly, stuttering the words whilst coughing out a mouthful of blood upon his person. For at this time, he was semi-curled up upon his left side, then flopped to his back once the spell ran its course. Whereupon I did view much of his body riddled with missing pieces of flesh and a great swath of blood flowing from his person. Or, rather, it was flowing freely until he cast upon himself a regenerative spell.
"I... give up..."

"Hmm?" I hummed slowly, not sure if I heard his words correctly.
"I give up," he shouted, "You win the duel!" To which I laughed in an uproarious manner, as though I had heard an interesting joke told by another. For such was what I heard, a joke.
This was due to one little fact, which was what I spoke of next when my joy was more contained, "Ah, little Human. How frail you must feel under the might of I, the Devil King of Asha'ruun." All around our persons, however, was still an endarkened space which did not hold any form of changing back into the scenery we had been occupying previously. Instead, it remained the same as it always had.
"W-what?" the other's eyes widened as he stammered, "W-what's going on?" Quickly, the Human stood himself up, but was hit by vertigo which brought him to his golden knees, "Why are we still here?" This was demanded as he shouted towards my person, and was met with only more laughter.
"Could it be, little Human," I flew around his head a mere ten metres above and in a slow and lazy fashion, "that you do not know how to use 'Duel of Compulsion' correctly?" Yes. I did spy his features, which were full of confusion. Therefore, I continued with, "You do not deserve my pity if you could not even remember the most basic of descriptions for this spell."
"Speak clearly, Monster!"
"A 'Monster' am I?" my voice was now filled with mirth and cruelty, "No, little Human, it is you who are the Monster." Both of my lesser clawed hands stretched themselves forth in order to create the imagery of gripping the other. Yes. He was gripped, and by an invisible force for which he did struggle against, but it was for naught.
This invisible force also did bring his body within striking distance of my person, but due to him being as he was, he could not lash out. Though, he did wish for such a thing to occur. Instead, his body was squeezed and the armour rent from his body in pieces until he was wearing only his small clothes. Of which was nothing to gawk at, as the wrap present was pressed tight against that which was his groin.
Yes. I was curious, and did remove it. What I found, though, was not what was between a male, but nothing. Not the shaft, nor the sack; there was nothing present. It was as though the Human before my person was nothing more than a doll, but there were no strings attached. None that were perceived, in any case.

As for the rest of the body? It was wholly male. Hair was in the correct areas, there were bulging muscles upon the arms, chest, and legs. No. The hips were not spaced out as they would be for a female, but more compact like a male's would be.
Quite strange, to be sure, but as I was investigating that which was not there, the Human had been struggling greatly and was able to free his left arm and hand. Of which then held a long knife, slashing down upon my right shoulder with all his might. Unfortunately for himself, the blade broke off close to the hilt and led to my attention being redirected towards himself.
"Hmm?" my voice hummed softly whilst my six eyes blinked in a simultaneous manner, "Did you need something?"
"Fell monster," he-it spat, "I will slay you for your insolence against my person." Whereupon it did swing the broken knife quickly, and only noticed nothing was occurring when I merely watched with some confusion in my eyes.
"You truly are an idiot, aren't you?" The broken blade was swung faster until his entire arm became a blur. Yes. It was entertaining, but tedious. For the creature was quite annoying and overly boring. This was due to the fact that I found it of little interest, save for its lower half. Therefore, "Therefore, little thing," my voice was of a growl which reverberated throughout the space, "you shall now die so that I may continue on conquering Asha'ruun."
Slowly, my clawed hands gripped the upper torso of the Human-like creature, as well as its thighs. Yes. It struggled even more so. For I began to twist and pull apart its body as slowly as possible. This was due to my desire to watch it struggle as it realises its death is nigh, and yes, I did relinquish the hold I had upon it. Which caused the being to struggle harder whilst the body was torn.
"Did you know, little thing," internally, I grinned a Cheshire Cat's grin as I watched the creature swing its fists at my body and head. Nothing was done to my person, but it was fun to watch it struggle nonetheless, "Did you know the 'Duel of Compulsion' requires the one directing the duel to set the rules within?"
A balled fist, already bloody from the blows against my visage, struck my featureless face once more. Of which caused my eyes to close as a reflex, but I could still see what was occurring regardless, "What was set was 'To. The. Death.'" This was spoken as my clawed hands jerked the body in two separate directions. One went away from my person, the other towards my chest. This then caused the body I held to crack, snap, and tear whilst the thing grunted and whimpered from the pain. Whereas the blows against my person, though they did not relent, felt more along the lines of a gentle caress instead of an actual, meaty strike.
"Which means, thing," the body was pulled closer until its eyes were parallel to my upper pair. Whereupon the other did take the opportunity to try and headbutt my visage, but only resulted in causing a headache for itself whilst it bled from a cut upon its forehead. Yes. The liquid was a crimson, and smelt the same as all Humans', a coppery tang.
"Which means," I repeated, slowly pulling the body apart, resulting in the creature's frantic grunts of fear to become more of a sorrowful whine as it knew it's end was now, "you are not needed any longer, but rejoice. For your body will be given to my chief Alchemist, as he will undoubtedly enjoy discovering what it is you truly are."
Upon so saying, the body was torn in twain, resulting in a spattering of blood and gore upon the endarkened earth below. Of which resulted in the world around my person to shimmer, then crack until it shattered. Thus, revealing a decimated army of Beastfolk with many a thousand Goblins stabbing their persons or hunting down those which decided to flee instead of fighting back.
I, on the other hand, hovered a mere ten metres off the ground between where the army was and the city in which we had conquered by way of Melephas. "Okay," my six eyes blinked in a simultaneous manner as I stared about my person with great curiosity, "What has happened whilst I was away?"

It swings between action, drama, and sometimes some darker comedy. Warning: A whole lot of profanity, alcohol, drugs, implied violence, actual violence and mega-violence—the kind that involves knives sliding into eye sockets and brains spilling onto floors—the usual stuff, scenes of intimacy, mercenaries, pirates, lots of moral ambiguity, including a wizard that likes to make tea with the heat sucked from his victim's bodies and a heap of world-ending monsters ready to eat people. _______________ Expectations: Updates every Monday and Thursday. Chapters will be between 2,000 and 5,000 words. I'm Irish and write in "Irish English" which is to say that I don't use much of the letter "z"

Founding of Humanity - Animalist
This is the dawn of the age of mankind. It is time to push back the wilderness and establish the kingdoms and empires that will govern this land. Players, the elect of the gods, are now coming to help humanity fight back. The dark ages are ended, and now is the time to lay the foundation! Now is the time to establish civilization! This is the Founding of Humanity! I am building this world for my own amusement, releases are not on any kind of schedule. I got to thinking "what if a beast tamer was changed by what they tamed" and this game mechanic sprung to mind. I do not know where this story is going. The main character is becoming a skill hoarder, as that is an advantage of the class design. The game system in this story is insipred by Log Horizon and Sword Art Online, where you get a skill and that is the skill, instead of getting a skill and then leveling it through tiers and rankings.
