《Of Life and Light》Chapter 49 [Ageless]

Upon draining the Beastmen of their energies in order to restore a portion of my own, word was then sent of my recovery, and would be out soon enough. Of which caused many a Goblin to run over not only themselves, but of the captive Beastfolk and freed Lizardfolk. For although I was in a guise of a race they despised wholly, they could not refute my summons. For the Goblin King Grub and the four Summoners which called them into existence demanded their attention. Therefore, they were helpless and could do nothing beyond watch with a sneer plastered upon their facial features.
Even Melephas made an appearance, and was wearing something akin to a merchant's formal attire. One which seemed rather simple for him to wear, especially with the Goblin next to him that wore a King's crown, jewels and a tattered red cape. Unfortunately for it, Grub believed this one was trying to denounce his person and claim Kingship over all.
Therefore, he did slaughter the other, much to the dismay of the Mage. Who went on to explain how that Goblin was the one he had set up as the Casino's owner, and whine about how difficult it was to have it cooperate. "There will always be another, Melephas," my voice rumbled in a neutral manner, for I did not care for his dealings. That is, so long as they coincided with my own, or was not in my path.
I, on the other hand, stood upon the steps leading up to the main house of the city, for it was as grand as any castle built, and was the only one left standing after the events of conquest unfolded. "Speaking of which, how did you all manage to cage the Beastfolk whilst I slept?" My own eyes glittered with expectation, as I desired to know how everything occurred.
Unfortunately, I was to be denied such a thing. For each of my Undying pointed towards Melephas with grim features, whilst the other shrugged at the attention, nudging the remains of the Goblin he had placed in charge of his project. When he did not speak, Amira appeared behind his person and slapped the back of his head in a sharp manner. To which he did flinch and glare at her person whilst rubbing the area smacked. Whereas the other pointed towards my direction, silently demanding he speak up.

"Fine," he groaned slowly, his appearance becoming one of exasperation. It was as though he were a child being told to speak in front of people whilst not at all desiring to do so, "While they were busy with taking care of you, brother," his right hand waved at my Undying, "I snuck into the city, freed the forty or so Lizardmen slaves, and took over the city."
"And how did you accomplish such a feat?" I inquired, leaning ever so slightly towards his person with the desire to hear more.
To which he did shrug whilst his arms and hands crooked off to the sides, "I just did, and it was a lot easier than attacking the city with just your Undead minions and five hundred Goblins. Besides," he gave a lopsided grin, and I could just imagine his nose stretching farther away from his person as he continued with, "I got a whole lot of EXP and levels for doing this, instead of participating in whatever battle they planned against the city."
"You're speaking in tongues again, Melephas," I sighed slowly, rubbing the temples of my illusory head as I felt an imaginary headache take shape underneath, "but that does not explain why the house I was in, nor much of the city was damaged."
"Well," he snorted softly, "there was some casualties during the conquest of the city, but whatever. You should just be happy the city was taken, and not question as the how." Upon so saying, he then left my presence, sauntering back to wherever he had come from. Thus, leaving my person alone with everyone else.
Whereas I just sighed a slow and low sigh as he did leave, not caring for his absence as I turned towards my servants present. Each of whom held varying emotions upon their features which ranged from general neutrality to outright contempt for the Human. More than likely, they were imagining his demise, but no matter. "And what of the Lizardfolk?"
This inquiry caused Brutus's jaw, which was agape at the gall of the Human, to snap back into place as his gaze was locked with my own. There, he did right himself before speaking, "Ah, yes, my Lord God. Some of them are being treated for this or that, but most just want to go home."

"Were they of the village we had passed through..." My voice had trailed off, as I did not know how long my body and mind had slept after the Goblins' restoration.
Whereupon I did wonder aloud such a query, and was responded by King Grub. Of whom shouted, "Master sleep for big moon."
After hearing him speak, I did cup my face with my right, illusory hand. This was due to my want of completing the task given to us, and not spend a full moon turn asleep whilst this new world burned for its wars. Yes. I did sleep for such a time, or as the Goblin King called it, a "Big Moon". For such a measurement was commonplace in their language, as opposed to a Small Moon, which was a fortnight in their language.
"Since we have yet to be removed from this world, is it best to believe the war still continues?" My eyes glimmered between my fingers, bathing the stone and earthen ground below in a bright yellow. No. This did not go unnoticed by the crowd of Goblins, who each chittered and chattered amongst themselves. Of which went even further, as I allowed two of my great wings to erupt from my back before dissipating into the air. Thus solidifying my person as something more than Human, and frightening those which saw me as nothing more than just that.
"Master," Rojaahn approached with two of his four arms behind his back as his eyes did glance at my own before moving his gaze towards my own eyes, "You need to conserve your strength, and not frighten the masses with a show of that which is not there."
"In other words, my Lord God," Brutus chimed in from the other side of my person, "we need to find some way to restore you back to your full self before you start wasting something which should not be used so soon."
"Perhaps you are right, Brutus, Rojaahn," I sighed as my head bobbed towards Grub. Of whom then dispersed the crowd of Goblins to continue one with whatever they had been performing before the summons. "I have lived for too long in the moment, perhaps I should slow every now and again."
Those who could pull back their lips in a smile did so, whereas those who were forever grinning sighed and shook their heads. For although I was sincere in my words, and held the desire to mean every syllable spoken, I could not and would not follow it. Therefore, I could only try to follow my own words, despite knowing that they were false.
"Have the Lizardfolk left?" I inquired, desiring to change to a topic more befitting of the present than one of my own fallacies.
"No, Lord," Shauu's head shook slowly as she spoke, "We've kept them secluded in their own part of the city, as I believe you would like to speak with them once you awoke."
"Yes," my own illusory head bobbed once as my hands made the gesture for her to lead onward, as I desired to speak with such a race. For their involvement would be crucial in this war. Of course, we did not truly need their persons for conquest, but it would be easier than fighting on all fronts. You see, if the world knew of a Demon Lord's arrival, let alone a Devil King, all would halt in their efforts in order to slay such a being.
However, if such a being, namely my self, were to be allied with those being oppressed by the Beastfolk? Well, then I would only need to worry about all except for one race in particular. Even if such a race was unwilling to commit to the cause, the rumours themselves would be more than enough to keep them under my thumb. For if all were to become aware of such an alliance between people, then those who would be, are, and were being slaughtered would become collateral victims as the world marched to slay the new Demon Lord.
