《Of Life and Light》Chapter 39 [Ageless]

"So?" wondered aloud the Ageless as he replaced Nox in his high chair. More food had been brought out, which was laid in front of Sarah and the child upon both tables. The chefs in charge then made haste to escape the glare given by the Goddess, as she was in no mood to be interrupted by their persons.

Upon their departures, she turned back towards her family and Brutus, who stared at the Lich King with suspicious eyes. For she remembered the words of him proclaiming her husband as his "father". Of which she would speak with him, but at a later date.

In the meantime, the God King continued with, "How far did you two get, Nox?" To which the other replied with a curious shrill from his throat as his ears perked up, his head cocked towards his right, and the juices of some kind of pork dripped from his muzzle and upon his own table. "How far did your mother read to you in the story?"

"Oh," he drew out the sound before eating more scraps. Then looked up at his father who was still expecting an answer, which led to him thinking for a few moments before replying with a bark of, "Roj."

To which his father's eyes flashed with the endarkened crimson glow of absolute loathing for such a creature's name. However, as such a thing faded, his son continued with a soft hum followed by, "Um... Wendigo ate the Minotaur and Halfling. Uncle Mel-Melef... Muu," he struggled with the name for a time, then settled with, "Uncle Hooman went 'poof'." The child's arms waved upon the final word, rocking his high chair before returning to his food.

"Ah, that portion of my life," nodded the other as he lightly scratched his son's head, much to the child's surprise and pleasure, and rewarded his father with a small purr, "It is the point where I had a purpose once again."

"Weren't you supposed to find a new world to call home?" asked Sarah as she finished the slice of cheese cake which was presented to her person as a peace offering moments ago.

"Yes, my dear, but that became secondary, along with helping Melephas. For we were gladdened to learn Roj and his Tribunal of Fools regenerated every time they were slain, but only after the last of us left such a space. Therefore, we would spend much of our time helping or hindering those worlds which needed our assistances.

"Hmm," he hummed softly, tapping the right side of his muzzle with the foreclaw of his right paw, "Would you care to listen to a few more of our adventures, Nox?"

To which the child replied with widened eyes that dilated, perked ears, and a wiggling hind end. However, such a thing paused as Nox thought of something, "Where did Uncle Hooman go?"

"What do you mean?"

"Muu, Uncle Hooman went 'poof'," once again he waved his arms to exaggerate the word, "when you and Roj were there."

"Ah," sighed the Ageless with a slight grin on his face as his head bobbed several times, "He was there, but had cast a spell called 'Greater Invisibility Versus the Undead'."

"What's that, Papa?" the hybrid ears laid flat against his head, as his eyes widened with great curiosity.

"It's a spell which makes you invisible to lesser Undead creatures like my skeletal Undying, and a few select greaters like Brutus, my soon-to-be Chosen, and Rojaahn."

"But you could see him, right?"

"Of course," nodded the God King, "Nothing can hide from my searching gaze for too long, you know."

"Yay," exclaimed the child, closing his eyes and smiling at his father whilst his tails wiggled in every direction possible.

The story will pick up after we had taken care of Roj and his foolish Tribunal, sad to say.

In any case, after our completion of eradicating and draining the life force and memories of such a group, I came to realise I had grown stronger. For before, I had felt weakened, especially after releasing that which was under the seal of a flaming bird, nut at that time? It was as though I had become the Devil King once more, when I had amassed a following of thousands.

Of which intrigued my person, for it was something that was quite addictive, and I felt the desire for more. However, such a feeling was shrugged away, as I had now realised what had occurred. Or, at least, a part of what had.

For you see, it had been many a moon since I last heard the prayers and wishes of those under my person, as those remaining were only a few voices which were barely a whisper. This led to the thought of my circumstances upon Onul'raan, as it was believed Brutus was, in fact, saving my person from the Humans.

However, such was not to be the case, as I now believed that they were assisting my person in healing my body. This was so, as I recalled many a turn where I felt as though my body did not function correctly, and I held the desire to amass another following quickly so that the feeling would ebb.

No. Such a thing did not lessen, but only grew stronger, as did my weakness. Even with all of the new beings who would follow my person due to the promises made. However, they did not pray to my person, which was the one thing I had long ago desired of them. And now? Now I wanted more of that same feeling which came from prayers, but was then substituted by draining the energies, memories, and abilities of Roj and his fools.

Therefore... "Therefore, we shall complete any and all missions specified within the Hub of Azzarath's worlds." This was spoken to my followers and Melephas the moment we exited the Tribunal's Void space, as they would only regenerate upon our departure and not before.

"Finally," grumbled the Mage as he through his hand up into the air, "We're going on that power level trip you promised me, right? I didn't get a whole lot of E-X-P from the Tribunal, but I did get a whole lot from the Animal Crossing village thing."

"The what?" Brutus asked incredulously, but was halted in his thoughts when I raised up my Human guised hand.

"Pay his odd speech no mind, Brutus, but yes, Melephas, you'll be given what you so desire soon enough." Once spoken, the Human gave an elated cry, but was ignored by the rest of us as we surged towards the nearest terminal. Of which was surprisingly devoid of life.

Well, after the viewings of us decimating the contingent of Red Guard, it was only natural that the weak flee from the strong. Though, there were a few more instances of Human and Guard interrupting our journey at a later date, but such a thing did not bother us. For they were swiftly removed before they became too much of an issue.

In any case, once we came upon the item we so desired, did I instruct the only Human of our group to find us a world in which he can enter. To which he did so with a slight grin, and exclaimed, "Found a war-torn world."

"Oh?" My eyes turned to grace his person with their light, as he nodded several times whilst turning to my person.

"It's Beastmen versus Lizardmen, so no Humans," a few tappings upon the screen brought up an image of the world coloured in two distinct colours of red and blue. Of the two, the blue was the greater, and covered the land mass in a dozen great clusters.

This land, by the by, was made up on forests and mountains with only a few pockets of water here and there. Upon pointing such a thing out, the other continued with, "Yup, and the two are fighting over the rights to claim them. Which means they both need the help of others to complete the task..." His voice trailed off as another image appeared. One which contained many letterings and words which were unknown to us.

"Is something the matter?" asked Amira as she peered over his right shoulder with perked ears.

"Well, it's just that the world turned into an event," muttered the Human.

"Which is?" she poked his left shoulder, demanding to know what the meaning of it all was.

To which he shrugged his shoulders slowly, "Just means that there will be about a thousand others of different races who joined both sides, except there's more on the blue side."

"Which race is the blue one?" My voice drifted between the two, as my illusory body stepped up in order to view what the pair's eyes saw.

"The Beastmen. They've been gaining ground due to the adorable nature of their females and children. Which spurred many women and men to obey their commands in killing the Lizardmen."

"Then, it looks like we'll be siding with the scaled folk this time," came my reply, as I pushed aside he who claimed to be my brother, and tapped the screen in such a way that would allow the whole of us to join the side of those who were Draconic in nature.

"Come along, now," I waved to the rest of my servants, who had taken the opportunity to frighten a group of Red Guards who had come to close to their positions. Of whom were grateful for the respite, but scattered as a harmless ball of flame fell upon their positions.

Whereas Brutus chuckled with great mirth as he turned to follow our persons into the portal room with the name "Asha'ruun" emblazoned in gold above it.
