《Of Life and Light》Chapter 32 [Sarah]

Azzarath, a world which had a Pantheon named after, was under the direct control of the God King Azazel. Therefore, it reacted to her whims, transforming anything and everything into anything and everything. Of which included a specific range of mountains that housed a group of monstrous creatures which now sat across from Karastak who was in the process of rubbing his eyes with the fingers of his right clawed hand. For he felt another one of his imaginary headaches appearing as one of his veins throbbed with irritation.
The group, which were of himself, Brutus, Sisstra, Amira, the Mage, and the rest of the Undying, were within a ruined village at the base of said mountain range. One that was somewhat destroyed by their newest addition to show he was capable of snuffing out the lives of any and all who stood in the path of those he followed. Of course, he muttered something about this not being how a power leveling session was supposed to occur, and was promptly given a slap upside the head by a giggling Foxwoman. Who then promised more would come if he continued to back talk their Lord.
After the battle, the group noted the contingent of Undying warily trekking towards their position, and brightened considerably when Brutus was sent to collect their persons. Of whom were then bade to sit before their God in the centre of the ruined village. Whereas the other propped himself up against a horrid throne made of the frozen remains of the villagers. The races contained within this, by the by, were of Human and Kin, but were of no concern to the group.
"So allow my person to clarify slowly," his voice rumbled slowly, causing everyone present, aside from the Human, to shiver with varying reactions, "A great quake occurred within the mountains, and effectively destroyed everything and every one of those we had gathered together, yes?"
"Yes, Lord," Sia bowed her head low, and would shed many tears if she could, "Even the children were lost after the first rumble."
Karastak sighed heavily, as he had believed no harm would come to them if he was not present, especially if those under them were to lay low. However, how could they predict the earth around them to grumble, groan, and shift? Even if they were able to predict it, what was said next would hardly make a difference, as Rojaahn's deep voice rose up after Sia's, "The whole range shifted, Master."

"What do you mean?" the other held a perplexed look upon his features. One which promoted great confusion, as though such a thought was impossible.
"It's true, Lord," Annata chimed in, her ears lying flat against her metallic furred head whilst she fondled her tail in nervousness, "When we escaped the rubble, we watched the mountains all around us move like pieces of a Rrina board."
"That is a disturbing thought," grumbled Brutus, then noticed Melephas shrugging slowly, "What?"
The Mage, shrugging once more, turned towards the group, but quickly switched to the illusory Human, "The mountains moved 'cause of an Admin or programmer wanting to change it. If you had the patch notes, you'd know this."
"What are you even talking about?," demanded the Lich, who then turned towards his God, "What is he talking about, my Lord God? 'Patch notes', 'Admin', 'programmer'? What are these? They're too foreign for my ears."
"You don't have any ear," grinned the Mage, who then frowned as Karastak waved his words away.
"Don't antagonise my second-in-command, Melephas, and speak clearly. We do not have such words within our vocabulary."
"Fine," he drawled with closed eyes, and upon opening them continued with, "'Admin' means Administers, and for you guys, that's a God, I guess," his shoulders shrugged once whilst he raised his palms up, then dropped them, "A programmer is someone who directs the changes of an Admin, or whoever else is in charge, and patch notes lets people know what's been changed after an update occurs after everything's been updated."
"He's still speaking strange words, Lord," growled Shauu as the whole of the Undying stood tall, their eyes glowing a feint red at the confusing Human.
"It's fine, Shauu," commented Karastak, who was currently rubbing his temples to stave off the ever growing and imaginary headache within.
"But my Lord-"
"It's fine. The next time an 'Admin' appears, I'll just drain them to understand everything."
"What do you mean by drain them?" It was here that the apathetic Mage's expression became that of disgust, an emotion not seen before, as his expression was normally one of a grin or smugness.
To which the other only gave his person a cursory glance before turning back towards those under him, "For now, though, we need to find another home for everyone. One that won't be attacked by Humans who only want us dead and gone, which will be difficult, as we all want them removed from our sights," soft chuckles echoed throughout the soon to be called Chosen, and even he smiled at the small joke, "Which means you are all going to journey with my person to the Hub, and we shall choose which world to inhabit."

"Why can't we just have our Terra?" This inquiry came from Igris, the youngest of the Undying females, and was shaped as a Raven would, but with feathers of metallic white. Currently, she was being hugged by Iinidra, who was her sponsor once upon a time and the pair soon grew close enough to call one another "Sister", despite being of different races.
"It is unfortunate, but we, I, was removed by the reigning God of our world," Karastak's voice was soft, and yet, only the Mage had to strain his ears to pick it up, "This one grew jealous, or perhaps was envious, of those who acknowledge my rights to be called a God. Regardless, this one had my person removed, and caused the destruction of what we worked so hard to build.
"A world without Humans."
Upon these words, he did smirk as his eyes spied those under him were growing infuriated at such a thing. Even going so far as to let loose the Madness within them, but even that was removed by that which was within all Undead. "Yes," he nodded slowly, "Even I still desire our world of Terra, but do not know where to find it."
"Well," chimed in Melephas, who suddenly found himself at the centre of attention. For the eyes of everyone that was present fell upon him, and none of them were filled with warmth, "Well, where you ended up was probably a Tutorial World."
"A what?" demanded Brutus, who raised his fists towards the Mage, but was quieted down by his Lord.
"A Tutorial World," he continued, "is a world where people go to learn the mechanics of the game, Origin Point Online. More than likely it was a simple scenario of 'Slay the Demon King', or something like that. Those that killed it, would have been given lots of rewards, whereas those who could not were only given the bare minimum."
"Interesting," commented the illusory Human, who then stroked his beard slowly, "However, I was the Demon King of my world, and then was elevated to the rank of Devil King when my people regarded my person as a God."
"Huh, well," the other rubbed the back of his head slowly, "did you have to face off against people who were called 'Heroes'?"
"No," came the quick response, but upon thinking about such a thought for a moment, replied with, "There were a few, but were quickly eliminated by my Undying. They dared to try and challenge my person with iron and wood. Though there were a few with some unknown magicks, but those were swiftly captured so that I may drain them of everything they had.
"Afterwards, such a thing was used upon any of those who still dared to try and take what was rightfully my and mine. This included the surrounding nations full of Humans," there was a pause as his eyes drifted left and right slowly, "and a few others who did not, would not, or could not comply with our demands. Mainly from those who harboured Humans, mind you.
"In any case, they stopped coming after it was realised I had become a Devil king... Why am I speaking of this to a Human like yourself?" Karastak glared at the Human, his illusory teeth grinding as he seethed at the unwarranted words which sprang forth from his mouth.
"Because I'm your brother?" grinned the Mage.
Of whom was promptly sent flying by Brutus's fist as he howled, "Father has no brothers who are Human!"
*****
"Father?" Sarah blinked as she read the line several more times, unsure of how to respond to such a revelation. For such a thing should be impossible, as Brutus's Story dictated that he was born Human upon the world of Terra, then made into a Lich byway of the Ageless's magicks when he was just starting out upon the Tutorial World.
And now? Now she was simply confused at the thought, and wondered if this was simply a misprint copy, or perhaps a translation error within the Library's System. However, as she was about to call a nearby Librarian over, she found her son glaring up at her person.
"Mama," he mewed bitterly, "Story." Of which caused her to sigh, nod a few times, and continue on with what was before her.
